  1. I disable AFM on all my GM trucks and SUVs because its not as seamless as GM claims it is, it annoys me to no end, it has been known to cause excessive oil consumption in past years models, the truck runs better and smoother without it and I have seen a slight increase in fuel economy after disabling it on every vehicle so it obviously is not doing a good job at what GM originally designed it for. I really don't care so much about the fuel economy but its a nice side effect. I didn't buy a 5600 lb 4x4 V8 for fuel economy anyway.
  2. He did not dyno tune it. They have a DynoJet Dyno but Kelly said they prefer to tune these trucks on the road for customers looking for better driveability. He drove around for about 45 minutes with his laptop hooked up to it and made adjustments on the fly so it's not a canned tune, it is specific to your vehicle and your needs.
  3. After reading several positive reviews about PCM of NC and the great work that Alvin does with these trucks I decided to have them tune my 2014 Sierra. CorvetteOJ has also used them and had good things to say about his experience. Their shop is in Mooresville, NC about 20 minutes north of Charlotte so it is about a 2 hour drive for me but well worth it. I had them disable the AFM, recalibrate the speedo for my 1 inch larger diameter tires as well as provide a tune that would increase the overall driveability of the truck. It only took him about an hour to do using the HP Tuners software and what a difference it has made! I have 5100 miles on the truck and had been averaging around 16-16.5 mpg on the freeway since I put on the new tires and the leveling kit. On the 120 mile trip home on the interstate at mostly 70 mph I averaged 17.2 mpg. The truck shifts so much nicer and has a much better throttle response when both taking off from a dead stop and when getting on it on the highway. The transmission also doesn't seem to hunt for gears as much either. Now that the AFM is turned off I am going to have the exhaust flapper valve cut out and it may be time to put on a 22" Magnaflow muffler so that it sounds more like a V8. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience and if anyone is looking for a good tuner for these trucks you should look them up and give Kelly a call to schedule an appointment. For $250 you can't beat it. StormH2Oguy
  4. I'm running P275/60r20 Open Country AT2s with a 1" level. I have about 1500 miles on them and they are awesome. The tires rub the front driver side wheel well liner in reverse at full lock. Even with a 2.5" level kit you may still rub but it won't be bad. My speedo is off 2 mph at 70 mph. If those 275/65r20s are LT tires you are going to notice a significant decrease in acceleration and MPG but they will look great.
  5. The leveling kit is one of the aluminum lower strut mount spacers off of EBay. They come with 2 half inch spacers and 4 quarter inch spacers. The 1/2 inch thick spacer actually provides 1" of lift. You can combine them to make a 1/2", 1", 1 1/2" or 2" leveling kit. I have used this same kit on a 2012 Sierra and on my wife's 2011 Yukon and they are very high quality kits and only cost about $65.
  6. I have had my truck almost two weeks now and I had my dealer send the truck out to have an Ameraguard bed liner sprayed in it prior to me picking it up. It looks great and seems identical to Line-x liners I've had in the past. Last weekend I had a 1" leveling spacer installed and my P275/60r20 Toyo AT2s went on yesterday. I only drove about 8 miles with them but they look awesome, are quieter than the Wrangler SRAs and don't rub at all. Attached is a pic I took when I got home. I also plugged the Range Technology AFM disabling device in yesterday and it is working great. I wish there was a way to lock out 6th gear at speeds below 55 but I guess I can run in M5. So far I'm really enjoying this truck but wish the radio reception was better. That's my only real gripe so I consider myself lucky after reading some of these posts.
  7. Patmc81, I will be picking up my new truck in a few weeks and, like DRS 95 Silverado, I had to order the SLT value plus package to get the wheels that I wanted and the 6" chrome boards are part of that package. I plan to take mine off and would sell them to you for cheap if interested. I'm going to have the dealership remove them before I take delivery and put the hardware in a bag so it doesn't get lost. Just tossing this out as a suggestion for you. PM me if interested. StormH2Oguy
