  3. I put the airbags in... They work pretty nice after I smoothed out the custom control system I put in.
  4. Oh ok that makes sense, I was just hoping to over complicate it and have a double throw switch set up in the cab
  5. How do you have the Firestone's set up? I've been looking for a solenoid or something so I can adjust them from the cab but so far I've had no luck.
  6. Oh ok, I think I'm going with the Ride-Rite's then, after I figure out a convenient way of hooking them up to the air horn tank
  7. Thats my plan, though I was jw I mean with a WD hitch, in theory, it should keep the whole thing level, which would stress the hitch if its subject to a bed, IE the truck leveling out when the trailer is still pointed uphill...
  8. I thought as much, better question though... Won't a WD hitch stop me from taking hills? We keep the boat in an old warehouse and the driveways pretty steep onto the road, then its a steep downhill. Won't the WD hitch stop it from being able to bend at an angle?
  9. We'll see what happens... For a WD hitch do I need a special hitch? Is it better to go WD or air bags?
  10. What's a rear mount setup? I don't think it'll hurt it's towing abilities, at least I hope not since I'd never need to go full throttle towing. I'd baby it still if I had a load on the back.
  11. Ya but if I do something I'm going all out, turbo's and a built up 6 speed ect
  12. I'm thinking about what to do, I thought about air bags, but it loos like if I do the WD hitch it might help with the suspension being soft, I already have electric fans, I have the 3.73 gears which it looks like are pretty good, and I'll beef up the tranny when it goes, and then I might look into doin a 6.2 swap with some sort of charger, havent figured that out yet. Though that's just a pipe dream and I doubt it'll ever happen.
  13. Wow you towed that with a 4.8? Man I've underestimated my truck... I'll fix the few leaks it has and give it another shot I suppose.
  14. Oh cool, good to know; thanks!
  15. In other terms it won't necessarily kill my truck?
  16. oh whoops my bad, that's my step moms boat, last time I towed it the truck smelt like death and I don't know about you but i don't like going up a hill at 4k RPM to try and keep at about 50 MPH, so she said if it breaks while I'm towing her boat she's covering the damages...
  17. oh ok cool, worst case I guess something fails while towing it, she pays to replace it, and I do what you did with the 6L swap
  18. No idea, bare boat is 4500, with rigging and trailer i'd say somewhere between 6-7k, plus it was apparently full or water, so that day I'd say 7k+... Thanks to a few posts in here I'm looking into a weight distribution hitch since I have a class 4 receiver on my truck that I had installed to replace the stock hitch. It's got shock brakes on it. Just out of curiosity, my truck empty weighs 5400 LBS apparently and has a GVWR of 7k, so with me and my tools its probably at 5800 LBS, can it really tow this without hurting it?
  19. Not sure I'll ever be towing this again... Not sure I want to buy a new transmission anytime soon, but here's my shot
