  1. There was a time when a 12 volt Panasonic could still outperform the box store pro-sumer 18 volts. Still have my original 12 volt drill/driver Panasonic from the late 90's. Been dropped from a ladder at least a dozen times. It never broke. Originally, believe Hilti's were re-badged Panasonics. Won't find either in big box stores.
  2. I would say "No," because there are too many variables; and, anecdotal evidence that some of these AFM engines have reached close to 300,000 miles without any other issue, than old age. Since my cam lobes & pistons still looked good, I chose to only install the updated lifters, oil pan gasket, valve cover, oil pump pick-up tube o-ring, & VLOM. Had already turned off the AFM, with my Diablo tuner. Use Mobile 1, and change oil at around 5K. If another failed lifter occurs, I will install a complete AFM delete kit, assuming the engine is still salvageable. Never liked the idea of having a mix of longer & shorter lobes & lifters in my engine. Also, will purchase the finest components that can be found. Since I'm married to the Avalanche for the foreseeable future, it's good to have a plan. All engines have some sort of hot-button issue. For me, the AFM concern has become manageable.
  3. Am going to hold onto the Avalanche till the wheels fall off. If my recent lifter repair doesn't last, are there any long block replacements you would recommend.?Assuming Goodwrench wouldn't be one of them.
  4. There's no relay on your truck, in the traditional sense. The process is BCM controlled; but, the circuitry buried in the under-hood fuse panel has more to do with turn signal function than you might think. If everything else checks out, you may want to look for signs of rodents nesting within the panel, or wires chewed underneath the panel. Also, shorts have been known to occur after rodents urinate inside there. In this case, the panel would have to be replaced.
  5. Have the same thing on my '08. Ordered the Brake Light Switch, because it's the most likely cause (and, the cheapest.) Noticed the switch on steering whel is seldom mentioned. Are they "that" reliable?
  6. Just an opinion, but........ When it comes engine metering, I would stick with stock components that were labeled Delco, Delphi, or GM - only. Some of us had to learn the hard way.
