New bulletin/Campaign 6.2 L87
White LTZ replied to tbarn's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Had the pico test performed this past Friday and it passed. Oil change with 0W-40 done. I was a little over 37,500 miles. Just going to drive it and not worry about it at this point. I was a little frustrated that it took the dealer all day. I had a 9:30am appointment and they got me a Lyft home. I was prepared to wait on it, but they said the process takes several hours. They called to say it was ready at 5pm. And supposedly they have one Tech dedicated to these recalls. -
New bulletin/Campaign 6.2 L87

So far, I've only received one notice in the mail saying my truck was affected by the recall and that I would be notified what to do when parts are available. It also shows up in my GMC app. I've called my dealer a couple of times to ask about it and the answer is the same, "remedy not yet available". I'm at about 35,500 miles and no issues yet. I'll be due for an oil change soon and I can see me spending the money only for GM to be ready to perform my recall oil change the next week. -
Rearview Camera Mirror Problem
White LTZ replied to White LTZ's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Yes, it works fine when not in camera mode. I'm still under warranty. I'm going to bring it in. -
I searched for this topic before posting so hopefully I'm not reposting. Had my truck since end of August 2023. Rearview camera mirror has worked perfectly until this issue started about a month ago. Still works great during the day but horrible at night. The less light the worse it gets. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

new radio update recall N242435631
White LTZ replied to kickass audio's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Since getting the update I've noticed some improvements. The A/C fan is no longer turning down on its own after startup. Also, the short audio dropouts after startup have gone away. All of my XM presets were erased after the update but I'm able to reprogram them and this was an issue before. My update was not supposed to be for the radio, but it sure seemed to fix those things. -

I went this morning for the update. I was there for a little less than two hours. According to my paperwork I received the update ending in -05. As mentioned here this apparently does not include the radio update as I still have Android 10 and versions that are over two years old. -

I hope this update fixes several issues. I had my oil changed last Friday but they didn't have time to perform the update. The next available appointment is a couple of weeks from now and I will go back then. This tells me they are flooded with these updates. I've had the A/C fan issue and audio cutouts at startup since day one and I've gotten used to them, but I'd love to see those go away. Also, I've had other issues that seem to have gotten worse in the last month. My phone has occasionally not connected to my truck at startup but it was rare. It now doesn't connect about half the time. The station/track select buttons on the left side of the steering wheel have been intermittent. When I have the main screen on radio, none of the preset buttons at the bottom work. When you press one a message says "favorite unavailable". Therefore I can't change them or rearrange them. Also, I don't know if it is related but my rear view camera screen has become grainy at night. It used to be perfect. -
Water from A/C dripping on exhaust?
White LTZ replied to White LTZ's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
OK. Thanks to both of you for the replies. I guess I just never noticed the sizzling sound before. And my first thought if that was the normal shape of the exhaust pipe is that would seem to be restrictive. I'm sure the engineers know better than me. -
I've had my 2023 AT4 with the 6.2 since late August. I love the no truck and no issues so far except the occasional annoying slow software startup or the a/c fan turning itself down a couple of minutes after starting the truck. Today after an uneventful drive home from work I park in my garage as usual. After exiting the truck and walking toward the house I start hearing an unusual noise. It is a sizzling sound every few seconds. I start looking under the truck and see water dripping down the driver's side of the transmission pan onto the exhaust line that passes under the pan. I've never heard or seen that before. Is it possible my drain from the evaporator is plugged? I'm guessing it is water from the A/C. No rain in a few days here and no puddles. Also, I saw no water dripping in the usual spot passenger side just forward of the cab. I've attached a picture that shows water collecting on the exhaust line after it cooled down enough to stop cooking it off. It is hard to see in the picture but appeared to be collecting and dripping onto the exhaust just forward of the pan bolt in the picture. Has anyone else noticed this? Also, this is the first time I've climbed under the truck. That exhaust pipe is rather flat top and bottom. Is that normal? I have not hit anything while driving or been off road. There are no marks on any of the other skid plates, framework, or lower front fascia.

I was able to find the "older" version of the sub/amp on FB marketplace. It was used but in really great condition. I did the install last week using the original Kicker/GM instructions by tapping into the yellow and yellow/black in the passenger door jamb. Put all the dip switches up and added the Kicker bass control knob as mentioned in this thread. It sounds really good and makes a huge difference. I had planned to try the alternate Bose sub wiring but I'm happy as-is. Just letting everyone know there are some of the older models for sale out there. Also noticed the amp is two channel and there are four wires going to the sub so it must be dual voice coil. The amp is very similar in size and appearance the Kicker KEY series amps and is probably based off of these. I think one of the KEY series amps could be used to drive the sub with some wiring changes and adjustments. Picture of amp attached with the dip switch settings in the original positions.

What to do with stock tires?

What to do with stock tires?
White LTZ replied to SPASierra's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
My truck came with the Wrangler Territory MT tires. Looked great on the truck but noisy and I don't need mud tires. I replaced them with Trail Runner AT tires at 620 miles. Discount Tire for $917 out the door. Much quieter and a 55K mile warranty. I sold the original tires on FB marketplace for $800. If you list them someone will buy them. Also, I'm not sure about your state but in Louisiana you have to pay the disposal fee even if you are keeping the takeoffs. -
Same issue here with the annoying notification and the fan speed. I hope GM has a fix for this in the very near future. I've had the truck for 11 days and it did get an update right after I got it home. I'm not sure if this problem was present before the update but it sounds like the update may have caused this.

Buy 2023 1500 LT, or wait for 2024?
White LTZ replied to Baker17's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I bought a '23 AT4 this past Friday. Was able to get $8,100 off and got 4.9% for 72 months. Not as good as five figure discounts and 1.9% or 2.9% for 72 that was being offered a few years ago but much better than the dealers asking MSRP and well above for vehicles in the last two years. I called around to several dealers throughout the south and some are still talking MSRP or offering only a couple of thousand below. I really think the market has to get back to somewhat normal considering the over inflated prices of vehicles, especially trucks. -
A few more questions and/or observations: It appears there is no HD radio for FM stations. A couple of other threads seemed to verify this. I also found a couple of threads about the A/C fan turning itself down just after startup. Some of the comments mentioned this happened while running the system in Auto but mine is not in Auto and it still happens. Not a huge deal as I just turn it back up but is there no fix for this? On my old truck I was able to browse through XM radio and see what songs, games, etc. were actually playing on the channels. In the new truck I can only browse the channel numbers and names. Is this correct or is there a setting or fix for this? I've read the owners manual and it mentions "Sport Mode" "Snow/Ice Mode" and "Terrain Mode". All I see when I turn the dial is "Off Road" and "Normal". Are these modes just for the upper models (Denali, AT4X)? Once again not a big deal if I don't have those modes. I'm used to pushing the talk button and saying to call a contact in my phone. Google tells me to turn off Apple Car play to do this. Maybe Google and Apple don't play nice with each other? Or am I missing a setting? Also, it seems a lot of Google features will probably not work once my 3 years of connected services ends. I understand this is the model now, to keep subscription service fees rolling in.

When looking online I also ran across Rivard in Tampa, FL. They are also advertising $6-7K discounts on trucks. I’m willing to take a trip for the vehicle I want at the right price and I’ve done it before. It just worked out great I only had to make a 30 minute drive for this one.
-
I bought at Ross Downing in Gonzales, LA. They also have a dealership in Hammond, LA. They have similar discounts on SLT and other trims. Yes I was offered great financing through GM and they were willing to combine them. I did 72 months at 4.9. That’s a great rate right now.
-
Thanks for the congrats. Yes, I think that much off is great. They were advertising $6K off. I looked online throughout the southeast and Texas and saw around 5 dealers that were advertising that much off. I contacted many that weren't showing a price and most were wanting sticker price or at most offering a couple thousand off. I'm hoping things get back to somewhat normal with lots of inventory and dealers willing to deal.

Picked up a new AT4 this afternoon. 2023 with 6.2. Premium package, Technology package, Sunroof, All weather mats. Dealer took $8,100 off and gave me a decent offer on my '14 Chevy. -
I went with it and am a proud owner of a new AT4. Premium package, Technology package, Sunroof, All weather mats, engine block heater(I’m in south Louisiana, it’s 100+ degrees but whatever), 6.2, Summit white. Sticker was $75,250. They took $8,100 off. And yes the Wrangler MT tires are a bit noisy and I don’t need them. All terrain tires in the very near future.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m at the dealership now. Hopefully it works out.
