  1. Funny first side steps i have ver found to actually be useful. I have been stepping over every other design for years. The OEM w/ AT are much better than most as I used them 70% of the time before going with the AMP. Now I use the step every time even with giant snow boost on.
  2. You can connect the handle w/o removing the door panel. All you need is a Torx 20 screwdriver and some 10lb or stronger fishing line. You can double up lighter line if it's all you have. Let me know if interested I can explain more or find the post that taught me.
  3. Mine do this after a washing and it is cold outside. After a night in the heated garage it goes away.
  4. I took mine off, 8 bolts attach to the vehicle on each side. They are incredibly solid and are made from stainless. I am referring to the ones that come with the AT package. If I didn't need additional clearance I would have left them on. They are way more solid than any tube designs that only mount front and back.... I compared side by side on 2014 trucks at a local customizer. Everyone there agreed. Attached is a picture of mine when I removed them. You can see the U mount slots on the bracket. They also have another that directly up into the rocker from the bottom.
  5. They are just as advertised... perfect! I used the every time I get in and out. I can't say that about any previous step. Im only 6 ft tall but I have found myself with all previous truck and step combination skipping the step sometimes. This is truly convenient for me! The other thing that is unique is that they drop far enough that you can easily use them with winter boots. The big bulky kind you wear in -15F boots. I am so happy that I have almost forgotten about how expensive they are... even after getting an amazing deal!
  6. Here is one of just the step lowered.
  7. I took a couple pictures today. Way to cold to be out fishing today.
  8. Took off the valance and put on some Amp Research side steps.
  9. Got them installed, I couldn't be happier with the work. They are perfectly level across the truck. I am surprised how quiet they are too. All panels are secure and you'd never know the carnage they just went through! I am also happy to report that these actually sit nestled against the truck and are very protected. The install took a certified professional (whom was as anal as me) 5 1/2 hours of dedicated install time. He said the last years models took 3 hours for reference and he's done 2014's regular cab in 3 1/2 hours. It would be very unlikely to hit these when off roading with how they are tucked up. It is really hard to get pictures. It is -15 out so I had to take them in the garage. I'll take some better ones tomorrow at the station if we don't go fishing. For now these two will have to do.
  10. I'd like to manually drop them for washing and drying etc.... If you use the manual override where you force it down while closing the door they cycle every time a door is open or closed. Its annoying and they get dirty and wet every cycle so you need them down for a while. I always wash my door jams and tend to open and close the door a bunch during a detail.
  11. I took my OEM's off today. That was easy enough... I think I'll install these myself. I'm so picky I'll end up redoing it if i don't. I just can't decide if i'm going to install a up down switch. I am considering putting a three stop switch that will allow me to set them down, normal, or off. What a great deal! Thank you KRC!!!
  12. +1 AMP Research. I thought I should throw this out there. The factory 6 inch provide a ton of protection against debris from your front tires. That is why they are full of snow and other road mess. I'll be watching this thread closely. I am going to sell my factory chrome steps because I want all black ones. I am worried about losing the protection from them so I am not positive I'll do the AMP yet.
  13. Thanks! I'll take some of mine today too to compare.
  14. That is great news! Maybe I just have a bad unit. Thanks for doing that... are you colors way off too or is that also just an indicator mine sucks. I was going to show the resolution in the adverts and demand it be just like the picture but that brought up shivering history of another rethread . Hopefully I can just see.
  15. this is my biggest issue with my 2014. The camera compared to last years truck or any other vehicle I have seen is horrible! I love the overlay feature but the video resolution is sooooo bad! I can't barley see what I am doing back there.
  16. I thought i should add an update. I posted earlier about my experience. I am locking in on HD within 5 seconds or so. The sounds is great when locked in. While this is the case in the metro I have experienced what you guys are seeing now too. A neighbor has a fm signal with xmas lights timed to the music. You can pull up and tune in to the station and watch the lights do the dance to the music. Every car watching had crystal clear audio and mine was all static with a little music in the background. Something is obviously wrong with the design or implementation. I sure hope it's software related so we can all get an easy fix at some point.
  17. My first 50 miles gave me an average of 8mph and that was babying the pedal. I hope after a few tanks she learns my habits and improves.
  18. Ace - Where are you located? I am in the Twin Cities. My reception seems very good. It gets HD on the 3 stations i frequent within a couple of seconds. How long have you had your truck? I read about others with similar concerns... not sure why I am not experiencing any issues.
  19. Snow day tomorrow... Hmmmmm

  20. If you look on you tube there are examples of how to tape it off. Looks like that is the way to go. You won't have to worry about any removal damage. You only need to really worry about the window side being precise since you don't want plastdip on the felt.
  21. Apparently after this stuff has cured in the sun for a few days it will withstand a decent amount of abrasion. On youTube I saw a few videos where guys plastidipped their entire vehicles went off roading and pressure washed the whole thing. It actually held up. It is nota major effort to have it redone or touched up either.
  22. If I was a brand new truck that is weeks behind expected delivery... where could I be?

  23. Cool truck. I am also going to eliminate all chrome on my truck. I originally was going to order all black replacement parts or paint the existing. Now I am leaning towards PlastiDipping the chrome parts. It seems pretty good for this application and you can always just peel it off and go back to chrome. Go to you tube and type in plastdip. I am even doing my AT wheels just out of curiosity. If you are like me that should costs you about 5 hours of your life. My truck is still not delivered but I have a shop lined up to plastidip straight away. Let me know what you decide to do and please post pictures. Murderer!
  24. Can someone with a silverado attempt to take a picture? Ill submit a Sierra version tomorrow after i pick mine up. The 2014 is the first year they are mounted in the tailgate handle, correct? I have been a man time over Yukon owner and I can tell you the image is awesome like you can see pebbles on the ground.
