The dots mark the high spot in the tire and the stem is the thin part in the rim. Imagine each is shaped like an egg. Matching them "rounds" the assembly. Like I told the dealer when they said big deal; you can balance a square but it'll ride like crap.

Folks, my saga began in Sept of '14. I loved my new Silverado 1500 WT until I hit the interstate. Vibration at 65 mph. My dealer balanced and then changed tires and rims, no difference. In December my truck was sent to a second dealer who rebalanced the tires and said they were way off, they checked the rear end and axels and finally replaced the drive shaft because it was out of round on the inside. When I drove it i didn't know if the 65 mph shake was gone because from 15 mph up it felt like "Magic Fingers". Both dealers and the GM rep pronounced it good and I screamed lawsuit. I finally noticed the red dots on the Bridgestones were all over the place. After a heated discussion with the GM rep about them refusing to correct obvious improper installation I convinced them to remount the tires with the red dot at the valve stem as Bridgestone requires. This was done Jan. 28, 2015. I am now the owner of a fine-functioning new truck. It took 2200 miles and 45 days in the shop and I had to lead them by the nose but it worked. I'm just sad that I didn't get to enjoy that new truck smell.

I've had my 2014 standard cab 4x4 long bed trailer packaged 3.42 ratio WT 1500 back from the shop for a week after driveshaft was replaced. The service dept. at Bob Hook declared the problem fixed. Now after a 20 minute drive ANYWHERE I tingle like I had spent the night in an old "Magic fingers" bed. Anybody want to start a mobile hook shop?

It has been 6 weeks in the shop and the dealer has run the list of parts. I filed another BBB claim 3 days ago and today I began negotiating a trade. If you get any BS from the dealer go on-line to the BBB. GM has responded within 2 days and both dealers involved have JUMPED on the issue. My local dealer is now saying they won't trade outside their own network, another call from GM should fix that.

Has anyone had the steering module checked. It's called a SMOOTH ROAD VIBRATION compensator .

My new 2014 k1500 wt was in the shop for a week with 2 attempts to fix the 65 mph shake. I've had it back 1 week waiting for the dealer to find his EVA (vibration analyzer) because they are stumped. 23 more days and 2 attempts to go before it turns yellow.

My new 1500 Silverado 4x4 w/less than 400 miles has the shake. On the interstate at 60 to 70 it will fade in on a curve. If it shakes at the head of a long straight it lasts until you make another curve and vice versa. This has to be 2 things going in and out of sync. My dealer road load balanced the 17' Bridgestone duelers and the shake is still there. He's keeping it for another try, but what's next? Front axles? GM has got to put a shaker on the dynamo and LOOK at it.
