I had removed the bolt trying to see if the sound changed in the heat shield, but it still made it after prying it away from the manifold. Picture is taken before I put it all the way back on. I thought about replacing my catalytic converter because I kind of feel it where the donut gasket is that meets the manifold.

Hopefully these will help. I can feel the clang/clack sound when touching where the heat shield meets the first driver's side manifold head/chamber. I'm not real savvy, but I know that can't be normal. Seems to be louder the longer it sits turned off. Does it slower and slower and finally stops an hour after running engine.

I can provide video. 73000 miles and recently started making a pop noise every 30 seconds to 1 minute no matter whether engine is off or not.

Kylek....I had my dealer replace my front differential. 2014 sierra crew cab slt. With help from a factory rep. Noise is gone after replacement.

@majicgoats...I contacted the GM executive office will a confident confirmed noise that dealers are not cooperating with me on fixing. Stressed the disappointment of money spent and malfunction I was experiencing. They had a factory rep come to dealer and drive my truck. Noise confirmed, a little slap to the dealer, and presto! New differential got rid of my noise. Hoping the relief lasts. They mentioned the bearing rubbing on the housing. More oval than round. this fix will keep me sane for now.

I've had the recent update and I still get distortion. More so on certain stations. Stations are fine on my other vehicles so idk what the distinction is about the hd radio. Dash speakers sound too high pitched with feedback, static. Even with treble low.

I have the reception and blank screen issues as well. Can the update be done diy or does dealer have to do it?

Michael. Mitchell.1029, I have a 2014 crew cab slt with 20" wheels. I get a pronounced hum/vibration between those speeds as well. Dealer is baffled. Been fighting it since the first week over a year ago. Test drove other trucks and noise isn't in all of them. I'm thinking differential, but who knows.

55-70 mph. Whaap.......whaap..... whaap.....only in 2wd. Driver's side. Not tires. Goes away in auto. If some one has a 4x4 crew cab 20" wheels please tell me if you hear this noise. With radio and vents off. Cruising at the above speeds.

Welcome, glassmasterB. Mine does this in/out hum thing between 58-70 mph. It is prominently on the driver's side front end from what i can interpret. Have had my exhaust replaced already to the converter, tires rotated and balanced with no change. It goes away while cruising in that speed range instantly when i put it into AUTO or 4WD. Then when i switch back to 2WD it gradually comes back. One tech thought it could be in the front dif, but of course gm wont touch it until sonebody dies or theres an explosion. . Forgive me, i have been fighting this anomaly for over a year. Oh, and how about those static ridden dash speakers in hd?! Mine sound like they're blown already. 19,000 miles. Dealer said normal sound. Ha! Ya, if youre drunk.

Shotgunz71....if you don't mind me asking, what is the led around the knows issue? The red light around my hvac controls are blacked out in spots. Not a full border.

Why do other gmc dealers tell me to go to selling dealer when I thought I could go to any gmc dealer? The dealer I prefer to do the work is closer to home and more familiar. Yet they seem to be shy to work on my issue. Warranty should be the same at any gmc dealer, ya? I'll be patient a little longer. Been fighting it for 14 months so far...

Gm guy? Would you mind if I contacted the dealer where you got yours done to see if the could give me a lead on what to tell mine?

Where are the dealresins located for the ones on here that have gotten their dif replaced or rebuilt? I've found 2 guys now in the gm forums that this replacement worked for them. If I knew the dealer I could call them and have them tell my dealer and give them a bulletin number or something. I'm getting desperate at this point. Dealerships
