On my 2006 Avalanche I've been noticing the plastic wire loom has been breaking off exposing the trucks wiring. Found most of this in the engine bay but a few other places underneath the truck as well and in the cab. This actually caused me to lose my gas pedal position sensor.
Might want to start taking a look at the wiring in your truck too. My truck is garage kept in the south but age gets everything.
Had the exact same thing happen with my 2012. Heater went out causing the slow limitations of death. Part was covered under the extended warranty but was on national back order. Traded the Duramax in for a GMC 1500. Would love to get back into a Duramax but don't really want to deal with the emission systems again.
I almost feel as if this is normal operation thanks to their harness.
They use a relay setup I think so it would make sense the headlights would only come on with the ignition on.
Rather than use capacitors to make up for the pulse width management they used relays.
Personally if you have an SLT truck the harness they sell is over priced and over kill for what you need. You only need two small harnesses with built in resistors and capacitors along with the correct plugs to make the new headlights plug and play while retaining all normal OEM functions for your 2014. Zmnypit is the creator of the harness I am talking about.
I tried to take a look at my lights this weekend for this DRL function but I have a basic switchback controller that won't do what we want it to do.
The DRL are on full blast during the day and cut off when a turn signal is applied. Then at night the DRL come on at half power and don't cut off with a turn signal. With what I have I couldn't mimic this so something custom would probably have to be made.
Unfortunately I don't have faith in the lube techs. I run a dash cam so I see how they act and treat my truck. Just another number to them. Anything out of the ordinary and they pull the brakes. This isn't the case everywhere just mine.
Oh well this is why I will remove it for my last free oil change because after that I will do the changes while I am still young.
Honestly I just don't even want to begin to deal with it.
I'll take the whole 10 minutes to remove it and another 10 to put it back.
Now I thought UPR had created something to make it easier to fill the engine oil with the CSS installed but never saw anything.
Honestly I am going to remove the entire system.
My dealer just gets confused and asks lots of questions when they see something different. Already had a ball when they saw my SLT Sierra with a Denali gauge cluster.. boy that was fun. Nothing came of that but it sure was a waste of my time.
Well I have a 5.3 and I just checked mine this morning with no flicker. Little after 8 and about 70 degree out. Was the first start after about 5 days of sitting.
