  1. So I installed the MBRP kit, but it is way too loud. never thought i'd say that. need to tone it down a bit. the MBRP is a 20x6 inch round straight pipe resonator basically. looking to swap out for another muffler. everyone keeps saying on here they used a 14 inch magnaflow. assuming that will be quieter than MBRP that has no packing or insulation? Do i want the 4x9 oval 14" magnaflow MF series, or do I want the 6 inch round 14" magnaflow MF series? it doesn't list on the magnaflow website that there is any difference in sound between the 14 inch oval and the 14in/6 round. thanks for your help.
  2. Do you think the super 10 would fit with just clamps and the MBRP pipes, or was weld the only option? which is better for V4 hellicpoter and drone now that you have heard both MBRP and Super 10 on your truck?
  3. i just ordered the mbrp cat back single side exit, but was thinking of swapping to the super 10 and use the MBRP pipes. Was it a direct swap with clamps or did you have to fabricate and have is welded to the piping from the MRBP cat back kit? Do you have size/config/model number of the super 10 you used? the loss in mpg is probably from a liberal application of the gas pedal
  4. put the flapper back on or get the Range AFM disabler
  5. What is the latest version of the Range firmware?
  6. So that exhaust was for a 2017 regular cab 8 ft box. Flapper is infront of muffler.
  7. I just saw a picture of a 2017 1500 factory exhaust on Craigslist and it looked the the flapper valve was before the main muffler instead of after the muffler like my 2016. Was there some sort of redesign to improve performance or v4 drone? Was looking for a donor exhaust to chop up for my 16. The 17 should still fit a 16 right?
  8. Definitely plastidip your rims black. Keeps the finish great on ride so if you live in rust belt.
  9. Thanks for the confirmation on that.
  10. I had my exhaust replaced by the dealer, and now it's quiet and the squeak is gone. I had to print out the tsb and show it to them as the first trip in was told it's normal noise.
  11. Does anyone know if you can remove the stock exhaust system in your driveway (i have a 2016 crew cab short bed) without cutting it if you don't have a lift? I am considering a cat back system, but i want to keep the factory exhaust in one piece in-case I ever want to put it back on. Perhaps some combination of removing the spare tire and jacking up one side of the truck? I was able to do it on my 05 silverado, but that was a long time ago.
  12. So that was when the 14s first came out. I wonder if they will say that fix only applies before a certain build date?
  13. What do you mean "pi" for the problem? Do you have some sort of GM document about it?
  14. I had issues with mine and they said there was a software update for the error code it logged. Fine since then
  15. I like when it's full of water then I start driving and you see the wind fighting to hold the water up without rolling off the hood. Kind of neat. It will be a frozen block of ice for 3 months where I live
  16. Looking at how the flapper is designed I don't see where just replacing it would make it quieter. It's a valve and a spring. Not much to it. Unless the replacement is an improved design of some sort.
  17. Mine makes a chirp from the flapper valve after the muffler everytime it goes from v4 to v8. It is especially noticeable with the rear slider open
  18. If the only issue you have is a little engine whine, I'll trade you for my 16
  19. It is probably the flapper valve after the muffler. There are a bunch of posts about it. Mine makes the same noise. Clamp it open with a hose Clamp and see if the noise goes away. You will hear drone and chopper in v4 with it clamped open though. It is probably the flapper valve after the muffler. There are a bunch of posts about it. Mine makes the same noise. 20. Right behind the muffler. Look for a square knob
  21. I have had mine clamped open for a week. My computer MPG avg is 2 MPG less than what I have been getting. Not sure if it's related to the flapper valve being clamped open
  22. I used a hose clamp. About 2 inch diameter or so. Just turn it and clamp it tight. Don't turn it the wrong direction.
  23. I tried figuring how to clamp it so it would stay 25% open but still open 100% when u get in throttle. It won't work. It's 2 rotating squares so if you pin it partially open, when it rotates it will keep it from opening all the way.
  24. clamp it half way open, then you get the best of both worlds.
  25. did you try clamping the flapper open? what was the "lubrication fix"? hadn't heard about that yet. Thankfully I can only hear the squeak with the windows open, so the 7 months a year it snows here, it wont be an issue.
