  1. I've found that most dealers provide a copy of their Order Workbench printout that has all the info that most people are looking for...yes it says for "dealer use only", but why wouldn't they do everything in their means to make sure an order is correct? Oh, we'll just order white instead...unreal. This is from a 22 Tahoe ordered.
  2. salesman probably didn't want to approach the sales manager and ask for something he didn't fully understand
  3. the key aspect in your situation is that you mention it's a small town dealer. they've probably ordered more vehicles in the past 3 yrs than they have in the past 20 combined (then again maybe they really churn them out). I contacted a dealer in a 100k+ population city we've bought several vehicles from and texted the salesman the exact truck we're interested in ordering - it was four options. He left two off when they gave me a quote. To answer your question, yes, a build sheet with an order number is available very soon if not within 15 mins after they place the order. Sounds like you did everything you could and possibly know more about ordering than the salesman. The only thing I'd have done is go by the dealership and talk to the person that actually placed the order. Small town dealers the sales manager probably wear 10 hats - doesn't mean they can't be knowledgeable about everything they deal with...but fifteen minutes on a forum and I knew more about GM's ordering steps/allocations/constraints/order numbers than almost every salesman I spoke with there used to be users online that could take the order number you received on 12/20 and then give you your build sheet. guess dealers started pitching a fit because buyers now knew when something was screwed up before the vehicle arrived. GM put a stop to the online assistance from other dealers that weren't the selling dealer - think employees can still do it, but GM must have some harsh penalties if they get caught because it pretty much stopped all of a sudden a year or so ago Hope they are giving you a heckuva deal. There's a point when it's easier to go elsewhere (understand small town politics may play a part though)
  4. agree to a point for sure. i like the look of the custom trim better than a LT and outside of the different dash, don't see much other benefit of spending $5k more for something that is probably considered a basic safety item on a truck that isn't my first choice. won't 100% deter me from going with the Custom trim level though
  5. Odd that it's not a simple plug and play - i understand if I was trying to get a heated steering wheel. On the Ram HD boards swapping steering wheels are pretty straight forward. guess more surprised that the call pickup function isn't standard across the board.
  6. Bumping this back up...Looking at a 2024 2500 Custom trim level and I noticed over the weekend while on a test drive that the steering wheel didn't have a button to answer the phone through the truck. I understand not having the steering wheel audio controls (even though they were an option a few years ago on the customs) but not having the call pickup button on the steering wheel is odd. Has anyone successfully swapped out a custom steering wheel?
  7. dealers around here are beating the bushes for sure trying to find good used vehicles...family member bought a new Camry at the first of the year and the dealer called them up mid summer and got them to trade the one they just bought in on one that was identical to what they had...guess it worked out and yes, horses are a great way to teach responsibility, figure we’ll spend it on something so might as well
  8. Have thought about a half ton, but leaning towards a little more heft especially if she ever has to pull something or just in general have a bigger vehicle than the majority of everyone else, off the cuff she may put 1200-1500 miles on it in a month…so 13mpg vs 18mpg is about $50 difference… trying to stay away from whatever we get from being “too nice”…bares bones is fine for a first vehicle as long as its safe…downside is if you want any of the safety features, those usually aren’t available on the lower end models. And yes – probably looking for something right around the 100k mile mark ewbldavis (Eddy) - how much salt do they use on the roads up there? dealership down here in the south has a few lease returns that were all serviced out of Ohio on the carfax (16/17s)...i havent climbed under one yet, just saw them on their website
  9. Have driven diesels (all three) since the mid 90’s and looking to possibly buy a ¾ ton gasser for our teenage daughter, budget is approx. $20-25k, of course would like to spend less, but looking for something that I don’t have to wrench on every weekend that may have a few of the driver safety features of today. Would be used mainly for daily driving (school is 25 miles one way) and also pulling gooseneck horse trailer occasionally…she could take our dually when I’m not there but this would always be another option Leaning towards either Ram 2500 (5.7 or 6.4) or GM 2500 (6.0)…is there anything about either of these that have issues with specific model years? Any issues out of lease turn ins? I’ve found tradesman Rams and both WT and low end LT GMs in our budget with <125k
