Yesterday I received my little video screen microscope about 2 days late. I think this is going to help my eyes a lot.

In the shop today: Forget eye crispies, my eyes were crusted over when I woke up from the pain at 4am this morning and would you believe my 2 first cluster calls were for the same problem 03-04 cluster not shutting down with key out of ignition and killing battery. Told them I may not be able to do them today. I'm in serious need of visine.

In the shop today I finally got that cluster to shut down after ignition power removed, spent at least 4 hours under microscope and finally found a crack in the solder. Re-flowed and it hasn't failed in 100 attempts. Then repaired the dead PRND321 display, I replaced the stepper motors and bulbs with cool white. This is a GFX special edition and looks particularly nice in cool white with the silver backing. Don't think I made minimum wage on this one, but the guy will be happy to see it work again. That's all that counts for me. My eyes burn and I will probably have plenty of eye crispies in the morning but I'll survive.

No luck so far, though one.

Just pulled a cluster out of a 2005 Sierra that isn't shutting itself off and kills the battery inside 3 days. It has a few other problems like dim displays and oil and fuel gauges are sketchy. But I have to find the supply problem first or I'll have to junk it. Just spent 2 hours on it and still haven't found the problem. I've exhausted all of the usual causes so now I have to look for a new cause, I'll go back at it later because I need to give my old eyes a break before I get a headache.

Nice truck, I saw one last week a silver one and it looked like it had never been driven.

Just need to clean those headlight lens now and you'll be good to go...

Today in the shop I repaired a 2003 Top Kick cluster and 2008 Dodge Caravan FOB.

Repaired 2 Honda Accord keyFOBs asked for $15 but the guy only had $5, the 2 batteries alone cost me $11.48 taxes in, he said he'd come back with the rest, not holding my breath. Also repaired a 2005 Silverado cluster.

Today in the shop I LEDed a light dimmer switch, a lot tougher than I'd hoped. Worked and looks good. Then decided to throw an LED behind the thumbwheel. There's no stock lighting there but thought it'd be a good idea.

This morning in the shop I repaired and sold FOBs for a 2005 Silverado. Then I sold a cluster for a 2004 Silverado because the owner had brought his to a guy to get the mileage backed up and this guy fried the odometer eeprom chip and other stuff and I couldn't fix it. Then I repaired an other 2004 Silverado cluster for a manual truck, don't see many of these. I'm actually tired now, didn't get to sleep a lot last night!!! Kept waking up from bad dreams. Notice no PRND321 display...

Why bother with a new clip, it should have been done with zip ties to begin with.

Just write on declaration "Return for warranty repair" and it zips right through. He sent it via USPS and I received it 3 days later, repaired and shipped it out that same morning and he received 4 days later.

I can't remember how long it took when I did SG Lou's But not much more than a week before he had it back.

Today I did nothing in the shop but answer phone calls. Next few days are very promising both in clusters and FOBs. HVAC haven't been in demand quite yet, maybe I'm asking too much. What do you guys think is a fair price to redo the background bulbs to LED in one of these? Is 40USd (50$ Cdn ) too much? There's $12 USd ( 15$Cdn ) in LEDs. It takes me well into 2 hours to do one unit. As I get used to it it may take less time but for now that's where I'm at.

Only advice I have is; Consolidate all your cards with a personal loan or get a credit line if you can then cut-up 3 credit cards and don't use the other one unless it's an emergency until the personal loan has been paid off. It's going to be tough for a few months put you'll pull through.

Repaired a 2000 Corvette FOB, well actually I just flipped the battery right side up and cleaned the contacts. This was done at a battery shop too.

Did a 2010 Colorado cluster and a 2003 Sierra cluster. Oh and a 2000 Corvette FOB and a 2005 Impala FOB. Cadillac guy thought $40 was too much for a FOB programmed to his car lol lol lol. Told him to go to the dealer. He'll be back !!!

If you get spark knock from 83 your timing is probably off.

Just redid a YouTuber cluster. It looks so easy on YouTube. This one wasn't so bad, he stopped after destroying the Speedometer stepper motor islands.
