  1. I agree, moving forward the concern is why the nuts are loosening. I should also clarify, the discussions between me and the shop have been very civil. We're just trying to work out the issue. This includes asking the kit manufacturer what's happening. They're good guys and they do great work. I just wanted to get some feedback on whether or not expecting them to cover the tires was unreasonable.
  2. I've taken it back to the shop every time I've noticed the popping noise. This photo was taken 9/25/21. Only 1 month prior to my previous pics. No beavers in my area.
  3. What should I have done, take it back to the shop? I did. They torqued the nuts at install, retorqued at 1k. I took it back to the shop at 6k because there was a problem and they retorqued again. Now at 16k the nuts are loose again? BDS claims, if the install was done correctly, the UCA nuts would not have backed off repeatedly. I have to agree.

  6. Hey guys, I'm needing a sanity check on an issue. In February 2021, a local, authorized BDS dealer installed a BDS 2.5" lift with BDS upper control arms and Fox coilovers (with DSC) on my 2020 Trail Boss. With this lift, they also put on Moto Metal Kraken 20x9 +0 with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT 35x12.50 R20. Eight months later (16k miles on lift) my front tires are shot. I'm very religious about tire rotation (every 5k-6k miles with dealer receipts as proof). The odd part is, there was no abnormal tire wear at first. It was only the last 3k-5k miles that my truck began feeling "different". I was hearing a random "pop" in the front end and upon closer inspection noticed an obvious positive camber. This is when I saw the tire wear. The installer's inspection revealed that both UCAs had loose nuts (one was actually missing)! They have fixed the suspension, but are insisting that I'm responsible for the cost of new tires. Below is the timeline for this project: Feb 2021 (< 10k miles on the truck) Installation of lift, tires, wheels, intake, exhaust, etc. Over $11k invested March 2021 (1k miles after install) installer retorqued everything. May 2021 (5k miles after initial retorque) another retorque and re-alignment. My steering wheel was off-center and the front end was "popping". October 2021 (10k miles after last retorque, total of 16k miles on lift and tires) front end popping, positive camber and tire wear. I'm intentionally not naming the shop until I get some feedback. But, they are insisting that they aren't at fault, saying "these things just happen". It seems obvious to me, but am I missing something? Shouldn't they be responsible for the cost of new front tires? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
  7. 2020 Trail Boss LT. 35x12.50/20 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss on 20x9 Moto Metal Kraken - 0 offset. BDS 2.5" lift (on top of stock 2" lift) with Fox DSC coil overs. Very slight rub inside front fender well under compression at full lock. Pulled fender brace forward with zip ties about 3/4". Absolutely no rubbing now. Rides like a dream.
  8. I actually had to make fewer modifications. The bumper does not have to be modified, only the bumper mounts on the truck. The only real difference was, I needed to notch the frame (where the e-brake cable passes through) more than the instructions state.

  10. Yeah, the pass through for the E-brake cable needed to be cut out a little more than the instructions say, but it wasn't a big deal.

  13. It appears the steps are in the same relative location on most brands. I think the issue with step location is really personal preference. If you look at the RC steps in relation to the seat, it is ideal for climbing in. When getting out, it would be easier if the step were farther back. If the step were indeed farther back, it would be less useful when transitioning from step to seat upon entry. I personally think the step location is ideal for both. I place my left foot on the step when getting in the truck. I place my right heel on the step when getting out. Then again, I'm 6' 2" so I really didn't have a hard time without the steps. My wife is 5' 2", so the steps were mainly for her and my daughter. I also didn't like seeing exposed frame and body mounts after my body lift, so the steps concealed that.

  18. Thanks. No trimming needed with this set-up. My only complaint has been the drop in mileage due to the weight of the tires. I still get 16/18 mpg and I would definitely do it again. Here's a pic with the added body lift. A close up of the Wheel/Tire combo
  19. The body lift is to get a little extra height without affecting suspension angles or ride quality. The exhaust pipe now exits 1.5" lower (notice the gap between it and the body). It bugs me, so I'll have my muffler shop change the angle so that it sits close to the body again.
  20. Yes, installed it myself. It took me two days. Mainly because I had no help. I also had 70 degree weather and a case of IPA.
  21. The hitch stays put. It isn't noticeable due to the design (I'll try to snap you a pic). I have a muffler shop that can adjust the pipe. No added noise or noticeable effect on mpg.
  22. Roughly $180. Yes, the cab and bed move up 1.5". The bumpers are also relocated to match. The Zone kit is very well thought out and includes everything needed. The instructions are good and there are YouTube videos as well.
  23. Rides no different. Actually it seems to ride better. This is either in my head, or the body lift blocks take out some of the vibration felt in the seat of my pants. Either way, for a truck that sits up higher than stock, it rides like factory.
  24. Progression of my 2016 Z71. Hopefully this helps some members decide on how far to go. Stock 2" RC Level with stock wheels/tires 2" RC Level with Gear Alloy 20x9 and Toyo ATII 295/55/20 (Very smoky that day due to wildfires in our area). Cleaned up 2" RC level with Zone 1.5" Body Lift. RC steps added for the wife. Having exhaust pipe raised next week.
