Best leveling coilovers/UCA with stock rims
Sierra706 replied to TEXAG14Denali's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Experienced members on another chevy site who I trust recommend leaving the perches in place. I cut mine prior to speaking with them. Haven't had anything bad happen, apart from losing alignment recently. Couldn't tell you if it was related or not, but I have stock struts with a spacer installed at the moment while my fox coilovers are being repaired due to manufacturing defect. You'd have to custom fab straps. No one makes them for 1500s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I bought a pump off Amazon that screws onto the gear oil bottles. You might be better off going to Starbucks or Dunkin and buying one of their syrup pumps and sticking a hose on the end. Basically identical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

You won't notice much of a difference on the road. Big off-road hits are where you'll notice the most difference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

In theory you can jack the truck up and use a autozone/auto parts store rental type spring compressor to take tension off. In practice it starts getting scary when you start cranking those little things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

This is normal. Need to compress the spring to take tension off the ring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

They won't help if you decide to do that^^ but they will extend the life of your shock/coilover if you repeatedly go airborne/full droop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

You should be fine if you don't plan on going airborne frequently. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Cognito will tell you to cut it and the fox or king coilover will be the limiting factor in travel. Fox will tell you their shocks aren't designed to be the primary travel limiting factor and advise you to install limit straps. When you mention this to cognito they will say they do not make a limit strap for a 1500 and "this is the first time we're hearing about this" and brush you off via email. Believe it or not most states in the us will have some sort of law on lifts, offset, headlights, tints etc. Enforcement is usually lax. If your not being an **** and don't give the police a reason then you won't be bothered most of the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Magna ride have black shocks with wires coming out. They can't be removed without throwing a million codes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Loud, bumpy, less treadlife, more sensitive to proper rotation, worse wet weather on-pavement performance and less fuel efficient. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Don't get full blown MTs. Get a hybrid like a ridge grappler or open country RT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Between the weight, tread and load range you will notice a decrease in mileage, responsiveness to throttle and braking, and ride quality. Wasn't too bad for me going from stock 22s but you'll notice more of a difference from stock 18s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I like them. I've never owned or even driven a true mud tire so all I have to compare them with are KO2s on my fathers and buddies fords. I also went from 22s with duelers to 17 with grapplers so I can't tell you about differences on my own truck. Dry wet and off-road traction are great, haven't had them in the snow yet. I might try toyo RTs next time just to have a comparison, but I'd buy the grapplers again for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I try to avoid measuring, sometimes it's just better to believe it's bigger than it really is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Pros are increased wheel travel and a more comfortable ride over rough terrain. Cons are overtraveling at full droop which can damage coilovers and shocks which aren't designed to suffer that abuse regularly, and potentially popping a cv joint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I have ridge grapplers in 285/70/17. Some days they look awesome to me, some they look small. But some days my truck looks massive, sometimes I think it's no bigger than a Tacoma. Depends where it's parked. I had originally ordered the 295/70/17 but it was way too close to the cab mount on my 0 offset wheel. The 285s rubbed my fender liners pre ziptie, but they are fine now and I've thrashed it off-road with no problems. And my speedometer is dead on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Do you put a jack stand or block of wood just in case? I wouldn't trust a jack if I were you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
