  1. Gm is prioritizing the trucks over car .. but with the chip plant burning in Japan, it’s going to get worse... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I do my own, unless under lease maintenance. Too many people rushing and not doing a diligent job. Well said by many others. Bottomline, sloppy maintenance might lead to a failure that’s your problem, sludge, or overfilling... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Did you get a service engine light as well? The Saturns would shift hard up and down when they went into fault mode to protect the transmission. It was all gears, not just 4th. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Agree with you Adam. Park sensors should not be failing under 40k. Maybe at 400k, but the engineer should be embarrassed to have to replace the whole shifter at $600. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I think I saw it do that 2 or 3 times over 3 years... so hopefully it was an update. Best to you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I heard they pushed a big update. Maybe you just need to give it satellite time(not in a covered structure... so it could. I had my screen black out a year or two ago and it came back. I think it’s update related. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If you put the truck in neutral, shut it off and tried to remove the key it would not go. I should warn you, my wife drove it to work gave up trying to get it out.. so just left it I. The lot, key in. Took the key fob and locked the doors. 4 hours later Onstar gave me a low battery warning and suggested starting the truck. Remote start would not work as the computer thinks it’s no in park. If you have onstar try it. I’d imagine the key fob won’t work either. My son drove to her work and started it, and the key came out for him after he moved it a little. Give the dealer a hard time if you take it to them. Find the service bulletin if you can. 8. I had this problem. 2017 Canyon about 39,000 miles. The park sensor is not signaling park. Hence the key is stuck. There is a service bulletin on it. I would start the truck, move it and inch and re-park it. I wondered if the leather around the shifter was the issue, mine worked it’s way down. I’ve heard clean your key...etc Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Have a friend with the 3.0l duramax... says the same thing... insane milage! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I did not get hit for 700, but wife has a retired friend who the dealer robbed. I’m at 39,000 and the dealership recently flipped hands. Since then, I haven’t been impressed. Been with them 20 years and was really happy until 6 months ago. Not sure what I will do when this one comes off lease in 3 months. I like the GMC’s. Probably will have to have a heart to heart with the dealership manager/new owner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Just pulled I. To moms place in Detroit metro area. Hit 36.5 mph on way down, but traffic lights afound town started dragging it back to earth. My ave milage over the 39,****** miles is 27.0. It’s starting to slide down as my work location is in the city now vs out of town 20 min. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. There is an interlock between the ignition switch and the “Park” Sensor. If you leave the truck in accessory mode.. in 4-6 hours you will get a low battery warning via onstar. Remote start does not work if the truck is not in park. For me.. I have avoided going to the dealer because, the will spend a lot of money working on the key...and the issue is the park sensor placement. My never fail routine (so far). Foot on brake stopped, push forward and right to park... hold the park shifter forward and right. Foot off brake, let truck settle, release hold on park, remove key. Replacing the ignition switch..not the problem... $700... I don’t know cost on the park switch. I imagine as they get more of these to fix, they will get smarter... The is a 2017 Canyon diesel. Diesel is awesome, Canyon has been really a great truck...my first problem... 37,000 miles. Ave fuel economy over 37,000 is 27.0 mpg, best is 38.4 over 50 miles... I 75 through Kentucky with heavy fast traffic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. My daily is only 6 miles. Haven’t had any DEF issues. Seems to regen when I’m on the highway. Haven’t noticed regen in town. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I’ve got the 2017 with the 2.8l duramax diesel. I’ve loaded it with 4 men and a full load off fishing gear for a week in Canada. Pulled 38.5mpg when in the 55-60mph range. 33 at 70-75mph. It took at 8% grade to make it drop out of overdrive. Nearly 400ft# of torque. I have a 4000# boat on a 1000# trailer. It pulls it comfortably. The boat is 9’ tall on the trailer and 8.5’ wide on the trailer. I did get the 6.5’ box and crew cab and 4x4. It’s hauled a lot of fish game and gear. The 4wheel drive is solid. Never stuck on a two track or 4 wheeling.. Range on a tank of diesel on the highway is 600+ miles. I like the Canyon. Haven’t decided to get that or the full size diesel next time. I went on a two week hunting trip in the bush. It was hard to get all that gear in.. might go up to full size. I do love the diesel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I’d agree. I Went from a 5.3l to 2.8l Dura-max. I pull a 20ft fiberglass IO that sleeps 2, between trailer and boat it’s 4500#. Pulls no problem. Milage is great. I did want to add that the Specs on the 2017 Dura-Max that HP and Torque compare to the heavy duty full size trucks that ran the 5.7l turbo diesel (1995 vintage) very comparable. 16. My dealer’s service rep tells me, you can get a light on if you don’t let the DEF get below 20%....evidently it does like being topped off every oil change. I have for had trouble with my DEF fluid. Great Truck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Sounds like great advice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. No problems with Def yet. I get close to an oil change between needing to add DEF. My dealer will throw in DEF with the oil change,so asked about when I got a new service writer. He made an interesting comment. If you keep DEF full, eventually the computer will think the sensor is broke and it will throw Codes about DEF not working. He wasn’t specific, so this time I’m running it Dow to 20%. I’m currently at 27% and it will take a couple weeks of driving to get there. Anyone know how that DEF sensor really works? Sounded like BS to me as I’m in analytics and IOT. Never heard of a program that would assume a sensor is broke if it doesn’t get low on some period. If it gave the same value all the time... yes. Been loving the Canyon. Looking forward to the lease running out and considering the DM 3.0 I did forget to mention. Father in law has a 1500 from 95, and the 5.7l turbo diesel put out marginally more power that the 2.8DM 188HP vs 195HP 396ft# vs 400 ft #. He’s considering getting a 2.8l DM now. Told him to wait til he can see the 3l /1500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. You might end up pretty happy. I’ve had a couple Silverado 5.3l 1500 that I I used for commuting and boat trailering. I now have a 2017 Canyon with the 2.8l Duramax. My boat is 3000# fiberglass, 9’ tall, 8’ 9” wide on a 1200 # trailer. Canyon pulls it no problem. Can run 70+ mph easily. My commuting experience has been great. I drive 20 miles each way. 70 mph. Mostly highway or rural roads (55). It loves the heat and speed. Gas mileage overall with 21,000 is 26.3mpg. Best 50 mile ave was 38.5 mpg on the road between white river ontario and Hornepayne. Has done it repeatedly. Love 55mph no stopping, it is hilly, and 100km between the towns. Does that mileage in both directions. City driving, it will drop to 18/19 in the winter with warm ups and 4wd. The big negative is cargo box capacity. My 1500 was 1000#. Canyon is 700 or 750. Mine does have the extended box (a little short of 6.5’) I hear the 2019 Silverado 1500 will have a 3.0l duramax available Pictures were taken Saturday evening driving home from Detroit at a rest stop along I-75.
