  1. Well mine has come loose again. Way worse than the first time. A 1/4 turn of slop now. This time it was instant. I was on the interstate running 75mph and steering just went loose. Scared the hell outta me. Had to drive 40mph so i could keep it in my lane all the way home. Needless to say, but I am beyond pissed that the dealership wont touch it. Even though they are supposed to cover the steering box with an amended warranty. This crap needs to be a recall. I got under the truck and took a look, the lash adjuster has backed out about 3/16 of an inch. Fluid is pouring out everywhere. I am sick and tired of this.
  2. Most likely not very many miles, but in all reality I believe it was an issue with production assembly torque. However, with the re-tightening that they are doing will not repair any damage caused by the improper lash. As long as the steering doesn't lock up on me coming out of a turn, I'll be fine. Just don't like bandaids, that may be masking damage.
  3. Im back to normal again. All seems good. Only time will tell though.
  4. well, ready for round 2. Just heard its fixed again.
  5. Yes, they followed the latest TSB, the steering did feel better in the short 1 mile round trip that I accumulated before the "service stabilitrac warning light" came on the dash. So im unsure if they left something unplugged or damaged. Would have been nice if they would have test drove it, instead of forcing me to waste another 3 hours of a work day to come do that for them. However I'm taking it in stride, and will give them due opportunity to make it right. just frustrating. My past 4 vehicles have been toyota tacomas and i guess i got spoiled in the fact they just needed spark plugs an fan belts and tires for the 5 years i owned each of them. Not saying I dont love the duramax, but damn....... My father has a '06 3500 duramax and it drives like a dream as well. Wish there was a way to delete the crappy steering box with variable power assist and put the steering box that was on the 2015 and put it on the 2016 and 2017 and call it a day.
  6. well, they said my truck was ready. I went to pick it up, and didnt get a mile down the road from the dealership and the stabilitrac service light comes on. So i turn right back around and take it to the dealer again. He swore they test drove it, but thats a lie because it only has 3 more miles than when i dropped it off. The tech drove it before the repair so thats where the 3 miles comes from. I am beyond PISSED OFF! I have already wasted an entire 8 hours of my work week dealing with this.
  7. Well add my 2016 silverado 2500hd duramax to the list. Just took it to the dealer for excessive play in the steering yesterday 8/21/2017. Mine went from 0 play to 1970 dodge motorhome steering wheel slop at the 15,000 mile mark. Service writer knew about the TSB which ends in F now. So, he told me they were going to do the required re-torque. Supposed to hear back from them this morning when they test drive it. I've got to say I am not at all happy about this. I am like many of you, I worked my ass off to be able to purchase one of these $65k trucks, and come to find out they have a serious problem with one of the two most important components that make up a vehicle (steering and brakes). I don't like the feeling of being lied to and reassured that there is not a problem with the steering box. I made sure I notified my attorney, so at least if something were to happen, somebody knows.
