  1. Yep another good clip of it. I'll try to make a video of mine just to have. But yeah I agree. If one of you guys has good luck at your dealerships I will just call a different one than I went to yesterday and be more forceful in wanting the line replaced
  2. yes, that's the same as the other video, exactly what i have. the other video is just a little clearer
  3. yes, that is EXACTLY it My phone must not pick it up as well cause i have made a few videos but not as clear as this
  4. i can assure you that's exactly what I have. I was entirely convinced it was exhaust related until reading about this line. This is different than the typical direct injection sounds described in other posts
  5. Makes me want to call the dealership back, but looksstock mentioned that it didn't fix the problem
  6. what I'm not understanding about this service bulletin is if there isn't an updated part # on the fuel line, how would replacing it with the same one change anything?
  7. I did find the TSB online though. It's for cars but the last part is relevant "Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger CompartmentVehicle Technical Service Bulletins Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger CompartmentTICKING RATTLE OR BUZZ NOISE HEARD THE BEST IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT#PIP5395D: Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger Compartment - (Feb 8, 2018)Subject: Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger Compartment imagSupersession StatementThis PI was superseded to update Model Years. Please discard PIP5395B.The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.Condition/ConcernA customer concern of rattle or ticking noise that is louder inside the vehicle than outside. The noise may be picked up at the back of the left valve cover. The noise may also sound like a lifter tick. This may also be called a fuel line buzz or ringing noise.Recommendation/InstructionsListen to the fuel line connection at the left side of the engine. If the noise is heard best at the fuel line (this sound will be real loud with a stethoscope). The fuel feed line between the high pressure fuel pump and chassis fuel line could be the cause allowing high pressure pulsation back to the low side of the fuel system. There is not a good way to test the check valve, the line will need to be replaced. On pickups and SUVs, a vibration in the fuel line at the fuel tank may also be observed. There are two different fuel line types that contain this check valve and vary by model."
  8. Was able to replicate the sound with a tech that came for a ride with me. Offered to let him drive to see if he could hear it better from the driver's seat but he said its just the noisy high pressure fuel system. I'll learn to live with it unless a more common fix comes out. They didn't see interested in looking up any service bulletins, so there was no mention of PIP5395D
  9. I decided to finally call a dealership yesterday to make an appointment, one that I've had good luck with service before even though its a different one than where I bought the truck. I'm just hoping that the tick will be audible that day, and I'm still debating on whether I want to mention the TSB or just let them go through their own process without my input
  10. Yeah and also partially because I'm a little reluctant to get into it with the dealership. first try to explain it and hopefully replicate it for them during a drive, then also going through the procedures of them wanting to replace/check other things like the valvetrain or exhaust even though people have confirmed that it wasn't the issue. I was going to wait until there was a clear cut "fix it" answer that I could bring up with them, so maybe this TSB is it
  11. thanks for the info, I think I'm going to head to the dealership soon. I've been convincing myself some days that its fine and other days it bugs the hell out of me
  12. Hey Parker, any updates on if the tick is gone?
  13. do you have a copy of the TSB document? i just tried looking it up and can't find anything useful online
  14. I drove to work this morning with the climate system off and i heard it on the highway, same as always :/
  15. I was trying to figure out if this transmission theory is correct, because i think it makes sense. Yesterday I was driving and had the tick as clear as its ever been so i pulled over and put the truck in neutral. I revved it lightly from idle and the same sound was coming from the same spot. I would think that means its not transmission related, if anyone else can try this out? and of course i couldn't get it to tick on the way to work this morning to try it again
  16. welcome to the club.. I noticed mine early on like you about 500 miles on my first highway road trip over the summer. Towed my snowmobile trailer this winter (about 400 mile highway trips) a few times with about 5k on the truck and it still made the same "exhaust leak" like sound from the drivers footwell. It seemed a little more intermittent in the winter but was definitely still the same sound.
  17. Aren't we talking about the cabin "ticking" here? the one from light load when driving, mostly on the highway once the truck is warmed up? I can hear the DI sounds at idle, like most, but I'm not sure how we are supposed to pinpoint this sound when it only happens while driving. Like others it is coming from the front driver side floorpan and sounds exactly like an exhaust leak. I've read so many different threads on this so I am sorry if I'm getting this messed up with another discussion I've had before but I was pretty sure here we were talking about something other than the apparent DI ticking you can hear at idle and under the hood
  18. Hi all, joined because I'm having this issue. 2017 5.3 Silverado LT Z71, Truck has 1800 miles I've had this ticking since day one. It is when I'm on the highway and starts when I accelerate in low RPMs, can hear it get faster with higher RPMs. Sound is coming from down low on the firewall on the driver side. Sounds exactly like an exhaust leak, I was confident that's what it was until I started reading more. I'm looking for some insight on what to say to the dealership, this is extremely annoying the truck is brand new and I've only had it for two months. I've read it could be a vacuum pump, the high pressure fuel pump, an actual exhaust leak, or maybe this pulsation sound? If anyone has had this solved I'd love to be able to tell the tech's so that I don't have to do this in multiple trips. Thanks in advance
