  1. Just wanted to give you guys a little PSA. If you do choose to buy used parts for this retrofit please get your seller to guarantee they are in working condition. Been seeing a few dead units and export units being sold online which all require map updates. Just a word of caution.
  2. Another option - buy something like THIS: http://www.ebay.com/itm/233628394318 Ditch the trash mirror display and wire the camera end into the trailer tailgate with the transmitter and wire the receiver end into your stock system with a simple switch. Depending on the strength of the transmitter you may be able to do the switch/receiver wiring within the vehicle as to avoid water damage. The stock camera's in our K2's are just simple composite so any aftermarket composite camera should work no problem. I've hooked a satellite box into my camera line as a proof of concept to test it working. If this is something some of you might be interested in I'd be happy to test it out as a proof of concept. I know myself or @pgamboa would easily be able to make a camera/switch adapter harness which would almost make something like this plug n play for around $100 all said and done.
  3. Also - this just matters for the radio module. The HMI and USB will always need to be upgraded and only a select few vehicles will be able to have their existing radios updated.
  4. Nope - you usually have to pull the module. Some had part number 23402909 (Made in 2015 but upgrade-able to 2016 FW). There's no RPO that determines which part # you ended up with.
  5. P.S. - we include radio/dash trim removal tools with every kit purchase from coastal flash [emoji108][emoji123] Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  6. Some 2015.5's radios can be upgraded to the new firmware but anything below requires an HMI, radio module and USB for proper functionality. If you want voice commands you'll want a cluster flash or upgrade as well. We provide a kit including all 3 modules for the carplay/Android auto retrofit. Plug n play. 7. Chris is right. It all comes down to personal preference. I'm not the biggest fan of the factory maps and am fine using Google maps. Even in areas of no cell service you can pre-download that map area and the GPS in your phone will still navigate you. If you wanna keep your IO6 an IO6 go that route. If you live mainly in an urban areas and want to just use carplay/AA go for IO5 and save a few bucks. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  8. No stress. Just figured I'd point it out that if it's a 2016 you don't need the radio done. Just the HMI.
  9. Might want to do a bit more research. Not saying you're wrong but I've done plenty of swaps for people who have the 2016's and only the HMI is needed to be programmed. The radio does not need to be touched. If @Goinovr has any more questions he can also reach out to us at Coastal Flash and we'd be happy to assist.
  10. You bet. Visit coastalflash.com and look at the rear camera in motion kit. It will allow you to view the camera for 25 seconds but you'll need a harness and some programming (part of the kit).
  11. Re seat the square connector on the back of the screen. Unplug it and plug it back in. Ensure all wires are firmly pressed into their connector and see if the issue persists. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  12. Do the volume knobs work? There are 2 Lin bus connections on the square connector on the back of the screen. One is responsible for the audio volume knobs and button controls and one is responsible for the touch screen. If the volume and buttons are working then there's an issue with the touch screen Lin connection. Try reseating that connector and seeing if the touch screen starts functioning again. The fact that it was working for a few weeks tells me it could be not seated properly. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  13. Hey man. I would absolutely check your LVDS connections (blue USB on HMI, black USB on screen) as well as the black connector on the back of the 8 inch screen as that is what's responsible for the LIN bus communication for touching the screen.
  14. Feel free to PM me your VIN and I can help you out. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  15. Just wanted to show off a mod we recently did for someone in Germany who imported a Sierra overseas! We were able to enable DAB radio, European radio frequencies and enabled all languages. We have done a few mods for people with GM vehicles overseas - pretty cool to be able to see these different options available for vehicles from different regions.
  16. Yeah I believe Phil Gamboa may sell the camera harness. You can get the tailgate camera from eBay for a decent price. I can also help you out with programming should you need it. Good luck! Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  17. Yep you absolutely can sell them on eBay. I always recommend my customers do it if they want to make the cost of the upgrade to Carplay/AA even more affordable
  18. Hey Scott - We supply both of these kits. Please check out https://coastalflash.com for all of our pricing
  19. I can vouch for Frankie. He has quality parts offered at a great price for forum members here. Have dealt with him many times and he has always been prompt, professional and takes great care in packaging his parts.
  20. Yes. We can program ANY 2.5 HMI. Regardless of donor vehicle or part number. If it's a 2.5 we do it!
  21. Just because something has been retrofitted doesn't mean it doesn't require a lot of aftermarket work. We are currently attempting to come up with the best solution to retain as many factory features as possible. Having a fancy new HMI3 in your K series truck doesn't mean much if there are missing features. We are doing our best to create the best retrofit we can. I know a lot of you have been asking about this - we are working on it. We will post an update very soon.
  22. Just wanted to post a little informative set of photos that might help a few of you out. I know a few people have struggled with the removal and installation of the upgraded USB ports - this should help everyone out. The best way I've personally found for removal is by constructing a very simple/cheap tool to perform the task. The gist of it is you'll want to get yourself a pair of cheap electronics tweezers. (Facial hair tweezers are often too thick for this application) Simply bend the tips of a pair of flat tweezers 90 degrees and widen the tweezers so they can clear the module. Once you have your bends, place the tips of the tweezers into the USB module notch and pull upwards. This will allow you to easily remove your USB module for replacement without forcefully prying on it like a lot of people do. See the photos below for a visual guide on how easy the removal procedure can be done. If you have any questions regarding the upgrade or would like a kit please see our website https://coastalflash.com for upgrade options ? Happy modding, friends.
  23. Other than the cluster being an AWESOME upgrade you'll retain full steering wheel controls in Android auto and carplay. In terms of parts you'll need a radio, HMI and USB. Our site is https://coastalflash.com Send me a PM or call our toll free number on the website and we'll get you sorted. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  24. We do a 2.5 kit for $550 shipped (io5) or programming for $100 if you supply parts [emoji2935] Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
