  1. I am one of the ones that went from Diesel back to Gas... First diesel was a 2004.5 Silverado with the LLY Duramax. Had no issues with that just wished at that time it had the 6spd Allison instead of the 5spd. 2018 I sold it and bought a new 2018 L5P Duramax SLT/Z71 CC. Had a ton of issues with it but it towed great and over the life of it at 84K miles averaged 16.7 mpg. Straight freeway driving was 18-20, to work and back was 16-19, around town about 14. That truck got lemon lawed and when all said and done, I ordered a 2024 GMC 2500 AT4 with the 6.6 Gas. I was tired of the emissions crap, the cost of diesel, the fuel filters, DEF and just all the electronics required to run the new Diesels. I have 5,000 miles on my new truck, and I love it. It tows just as well as my diesel, but I do miss one thing...the Exhaust brake. I just did 965-mile round trip towing my Can Am in my 16' box trailer to Utah and back and I averaged 9 mpg, but my buddy's I was following all wanted to do 85-90 mph! UGH! Had I stayed where I like to tow....65, I would have been in the 10's for sure. That trip in my Duramax probably would have been 12-13. So far in the gasser, freeway driving can see 19 mpg, but it is usually around 17-18 at 65-70 mph. To work and back 15-18, around town about 12-14. I simplified my life going with the gas version, but I do miss the diesel just a little bit...only for knowing I could tow whatever I wanted pretty much. Now having said that, I won't ever get a trailer that is that heavy...so for me going gas just made sense and I love it. ~Dale
  2. Nice to hear you love the 6.6 gasser. I have a 2018 LTZ, CC SB 2500 Z71, Duramax and love it and it's paid for, but it might be going bye bye as I have had multiple things go wrong with it and I'm really thinking of getting a new 2022 GMC AT4 with the 6.6 Gas motor. My trailer loaded is about 5K, maybe 5500 lbs and I'm getting between 12-14 when towing. Straight freeway is 19-20's. In fact I did a run from home in Orange County, CA to Goodyear Arizona and back on 1 tank...just to see if I could. went 675 miles and could have made it to work and would have put just over 700 for a tank, but at fill up I got 19.85294 MPG for the trip. Probably won't see that with the 6.6 gas motor. But I'm hearing of issues with that 10spd trans for the new trucks, the diesel fuels are changing, (DO NOT RUN BIO_DIESEL) That is straight from a GM Tech, then there is the Def fluid, Fuel filter changes every other oil change, etc... I have owned diesel since 2005 and absolutely love the torque and power but I know it is overkill for what I am towing. 16' box trailer that had a 2008 rhino in it, sold that...just picked up my 2022 CAN AM X-RS Turbo RR 2 seater. So I'm not towing a lot, in fact I could get away with a 1500...but No way I could step down after owning the 2500 series for so long. I think I'm gonna go test drive one on the way home from work. Who knows...I'm on the fence...maybe end up with another diesel????
  3. the gold portion is held in by plastic tabs that are press fit from the back to hold them in place. All you do it get a Super thin paint scraper, heat up the gold portion, and slide the paint scraper between the gold and chrome and cut the tabs.
  4. I just redid all my emblems. I pulled them off and painted them myself. Looks totally factory! For all wondering, on the 2017-2018 2500 HD's, you can fit your hand down through the top with the hood latch is to get to the emblem. You DO NOT have to take off the radiator shroud. You can feel the tabs from the backside and pop out the emblem. Also, the gold portion is held in by plastic tabs that are press fit from the back to hold them in place. All you do it get a Super thin paint scraper, heat up the gold portion, and slide the paint scraper between the gold and chrome and cut the tabs. Sand smooth and re apply with 3m double faced tape. Painted with Caliper paint... Cost was about $20...
  5. 2018 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax/Allison Z71 Ice Metallic Silver... Just changed the emblems...Can't stand Gold. Did Vinyl! I may buy another set of front and rear emblems and paint them. I can't find anyone that sells red. Everyone has black or silver.
