I just finished researching options. I decided on android "carplay ai box" because I wanted a standalone device in my vehicle. An ai box will be cheaper and easier especially if you don't need the camera inputs and hdmi input. Its basically an android 9.0 interface on your touch screen. Some ai boxes feature hdmi i/o as well as other i/o. Your vehicle must have wired carplay for it to work. Boxes range from $150-350 depending on features and your source.
