  1. There are a lot of articles and forum topics on this subject, so I am not getting into that here. Just check out a professional audio shop. Look at their installs on youtube, instagram, etc.... 95% install tweeters in the dash and/or a-pillars for perfect balance. Anything installed will sound better than the stock Bose speakers by far.
  2. Awesome! I understand. Maybe in the next year Mechman will come out with an alternator bigger than a 250 to fit our trucks. I will be upgrading soon. Have you done any research on the Antigravity lithium batteries. They make a Group 94R battery. It's expensive! The auto start/stop feature must be bypassed, but I was trying to figure out if this battery would work. I understand we have an 80ah stock AGM battery, but they make a 60ah lithium battery which is approximately like a 110ah AGM. Just curious to see your thoughts on this?
  3. The voltage at the sub amp sits at 13.8-13.9 volts at full tilt. Checking it with volt meter. I am pushing a little over 2000 watts with stock alternator right now with zero trouble. But want to upgrade to a bigger amp and subs.
  4. I have the same 6x9 to 6.5" adapters. I like those tweeter adapters. I do a lot of sheetmetal work so I built mine out of 0.063" aluminum.
  5. Thanks for the write-up. Very informative. At full tilt, what is the voltage?
  6. I am pretty certain that anyone that purchased a set of components removed the dash speakers, built an adapter, and replaced it with the tweeter that comes with the components.
  7. Any updates on the high amperage alternator install? I called Mechman 6-8 weeks ago, and as of now they have not resolved the smart charging issue on these trucks. There has to be a way to install a big alternator. Said they are working on it. As of right now I am running Focal components in the front and Focal coaxials in the rear with two Focal flax 12's. One Audio Control D4.800 and LC800.1. Mids/highs amp is only using around 400 watts and the sub amp is putting out a little more than 800 watts. So a little over 1200 watts at full tilt and voltage never moves from 13.9 at both amps. I have an oldschool Cadence A7HC that makes really good power for a 20 year old amp. I built an enclosure for two Sundown ZV5s for a guy recently, and tested it in briefly in my AT4. Voltage was 13.8-13.9 at full tilt. I did not clamp to see how much power it was putting out but I installed it in the other truck on a Salt4K, the Salt amp was definitely louder, but my old amp really surprised me. This being said, I feel like we have pretty good stock electrical in these trucks. If the 220 amp alternator would interchange, I think it could handle 3000 watts if a powerful AGM or Lithium was added. I'm not saying the stock will handle the Salt6K by any means. 370-390 amp will definitely be needed for all of that gear.
  8. My NavTV update. Working on 3 months with the "upgraded" unit. About once every 4 weeks I get a staticky signal noise that goes in and out. To fix this....turn the key off for 2 minutes and it is back to normal for another 4 weeks. I do not understand why they cannot fix this issue. I personally had great luck with their customer service, but I am disappointed in the unit. When it is working (which is 95% of the time now) it sounds amazing. But anything that cost this much that has been released to the public for sale should not have "quirks." I understand everyone has different wants, needs, and budgets. But for those saying the Bose system sounds great, you guys need to hear a system with just low to mid priced components, amp, and dsp. You will be blown away by the difference. Usually, but not always, the more you spend the better sound quality you will have. A dsp is a must for optimal tuning though. When you remove the Bose speakers from the doors you will understand how we all got ripped off for that upgrade.
  9. In 2 weeks it has only happened once, but you are correct, it should not happen at all. But mine resets when I turn the ignition off and then back on. We are out $600. I have not confirmed this, just an assumption; when PAC comes out with an Amp Pro interface for these trucks I will be buying it immediately.
  10. Yes it is still going good. No sound drops or bad signal. Sounds great and really clear. If you want the best sound possible, a DSP is a must. There is no comparison in sound. The EQ in the stock head unit is not adequate to get a perfectly tuned system. But I feel like NAV-TV has addressed the issues and I can recommend it now. Editing this the one day after I posted I said it was perfect for two weeks. Funny how things work. Today I started my truck and the door chimes sounded like a CD skipping with a scratchy signal (very brief- split second). Played music through my phone, SiriusXm, and the same. It plays clear for a few minutes then for a split second it has this strange sound then back to normal. I am speechless now. Like I said in another post, I cannot give up bc I have reconfigured the entire sound system, so I’m stuck.
  11. I received my NAV-TV unit back from them in 8 days. I reinstalled it, and so far it is working perfect. The loud volume issue has been resolved as well as the sound dropping and creating a staticky signal. I am hoping it will continue to work with no issues. NAV-TV is very friendly and helpful on the phone. Their customer service is top notch. I will keep everyone updated if it keeps working or if a problem occurs.
  12. NAV-TV has my unit right now. Instead of buying a new one I shipped mine to them to repair. And now I’m reading you guys with the “updated” version are having basically the same issues as before. Paying $600 for this is ridiculous. They obviously have no solution yet. I know we will never get a refund. I am stuck now. I replaced the front and rear door speakers as well as the highs in the dash with components, ran new speaker wire (kept the stock intact though), and built an amp rack and subwoofer enclosure and can’t even listen to it. I have a ton of hours invested and no return. I designed this system around the NAV-TV unit for the cleanest signal possible instead of using the inputs on the Audio Control amp. They need to get this resolved for us.
  13. I’m glad to hear they resolved your issues. I bought mine in December so I’m assuming it needs to be replaced. After a few weeks it has only dropped the volume and then staticky twice but like others have said for $600 it should work perfect. Another issue I’m having is the volume knob. Just one click from mute or all the way down is way too loud. One click has the loudness you need when driving on a rough or loud road. My door chimes are perfect. I have an audio control amp with a dsp and the gains are tuned perfect. Not too high. Not sure if it’s the NAV-TV unit causing this.
  14. I guess I talked to soon about mine working perfect. Been working perfect for over a week. Hours of run time and this afternoon the volume dropped pretty low and it had a staticky signal. It was in and out on the 15 min drive. Hope they will replace mine also.
