  1. *update* I replaced the battery ground cable, got the part from the dealer. Truck runs good now if I have any further issues I will update this thread. Thanks to everyone who provided input!
  2. Am I replacing the battery (-) to frame cable or just adding an additional battery (-) to ground
  3. I have the original battery. Truck started up fine this morning everything was working fine until all this started happening. Are you referring to the ground coming off the harness on the frame in that area? I will start by adding a ground from the battery to the ground location by the brake booster. Any recommendations on what gauge wire to use?
  4. I’m having a major electrical issue somewhere in my truck. I will be driving, come to a stop, then go to take off and the truck will shut off completely but then start up a minute later. I was pulling a trailer today and I took off from a stop and the interior lights started flashing, wipers kept kicking on, and I got a stabilitrak error message every 5 seconds. This has happened about 5 times since owning the truck the last 15000 miles. Truck currently has 66,000 miles. It also tells me to put my driver window down then back up and I will attach a picture of it. Please help I’m stuck in the parking lot with a trailer attached to a truck they won’t do anything.
  5. I looked around the internet and found this aftermarket thermostat and I was wondering if anyone had experience with it? It’s supposed to lower trans temp by 20% https://globaltransmissionparts.com/6l80-6l90-sure-cool-cooler-flow-system-stl010/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwj7v0BRDOARIsAGh37irlrDHDRLCnhLDiGIY1k7wchfDl9rTeJxpjDxzUBhuOUouu0MD4K5IaAgUHEALw_wcB I’m open to other thermostats y’all have experience with as well, thanks!
  6. My friend has a 2011 1500 and his 6L80 runs around 150-160 which seems MUCH more normal. What do I say to the dealers about me wanting all that done? I assume I have to pay for all of that as well? And what is the benefit of replacing the converter after all of that is done?
  7. Hey everyone, I’m new to the forum. To start out, I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 5.3 with 65k miles. I’m on 33x12.50 tires and factory gearing(which I believe is 3.42 or 3.24, something like that). I’ve noticed my transmission temp gets hot all the time without towing or driving like an idiot. I’m running around 194-199 driving 80 on the flat interstate with ambient temperature around 60-65°. The trans is also starting to develop a small flare between 2-3 and 3-4. My local shop said the trans is starting to fail and it didn’t have any codes. I wanted a second opinion so I took it to a reputable transmission shop in town. He told me it was the torque converter starting to fail and that I should replace it and be good to go. He said he has seen this problem before on the 6L80’s and it will fix it. I just figured I’d ask y’all before I pay $1000 to have the converter replaced. Thanks!
