  1. does it also make any type of humming noise?
  2. do you notice any type of sound? is it constant or in a rhythm?
  3. Ahh gottcha. I've been having a problem that no one can figure out. At highway speeds mostly 64-68mph but also anything above that speed will trigger a low rumble and slight vibration. The rumble is always there but in a pattern... whoom......quiet.....whoom....quiet.....whoom with about a second in between the whoom and quiet. when I switch to stock wheels and tires it makes a big difference.. but it still does it. when i'm going 80mph and punch the gas it sounds like i'm hitting the rumble strip on the freeway. I HATE THIS TRUCK. Hope you get yours figured out.
  4. Does it make any noise? like a hummm...quiet.....hummm... quiet....hummmm?
  5. is this a constant sound? or does it rumble...stop...rumble...stop like every other second.
  6. Sweet man, let me know what you find out. I have aftermarket wheels and aggressive tires on my truck.. swapped them out for the stock ones and it seemed to help out quite a bit. still not sure what the exact problem is... I'm probably going to get rid of it at the end of the year and be upside down a little bit.
  7. Mine does this exact thing. do you have stock wheels and tires?
  8. Sweet, best of luck! I just swapped out my wheels and tires for stock and its improved big time. I think I have a bad wheel... it has so many weights on it.
  9. Thanks for the advice, i'm really not sure what to do... it seems like i'm spinning my wheels and wasting money on trying to find a fix.. If I wasn't going to be upside down I would get rid of it in a heart beat. Hopefully its just annoying and not causing any real problems, besides driving myself crazy.
  10. That's true it could be worth a shot, I purchased it used with 74k miles on it.. I've taken it back to the dealer I got it from they blamed the tires... I took it to another dealer they couldn't figure it out kinda blamed the tires as well.. Transmission shop told me it was probably the driveshaft... had that pulled out and balanced as well. The few shops I've taken it to strongly disagree on it being my tires... only the dealer is pushing that idea. I know what a tire sounds like as well and its nothing like the noise my truck is making.
  11. I took it to a transmission shop he didn't think it had anything to do with the torque converter shudder... i'll have to see if a recording will pick up the audio of that noise. If it does i'll make sure to post it. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the info, i'm guessing my problem is not the chevy shake than... mine doesn't really shake it just has a slight vibration in the floor/gas pedal with that rhythmic humming noise...
  13. Is this just a shake? The problem i'm having is a rhythmic humming noise when driving at highway speeds (55mph+) Humming lasts for 1 sec and then 1 sec of silence, 1 sec of humming, 1 sec silence and so on. Doesn't matter on or off the power, or in v4 or v8 mode. So it's speed related not rpm related.
  14. Hello, I recently posted about an issue I was having regarding a vibration/rumble noise in the thread below. I took the truck to a driveshaft shop and they said it was all out of whack... balanced it and it seems to be about 90% better but it's still vibrating and making the noise but now at around 55-63mph, before it was any speed from about 60mphs on up. Took a trip up North this past weekend as well and it also seemed to do it while accelerating or going up hill. I can feel the vibration in the floor/pedal. Since the balance did seem to really help the problem but not fix it 100% what would you suggest I do next?
  15. Update! I would have to say this is about 95% better, the sound and vibration is hardly ever there now.
  16. The driveshaft shop said it was out of balance and it rides smooth now but the harmonic sound is still there... No idea what to do...
  17. Took it to another transmission shop and he is 100% sure it has nothing to do with the transmission or tires. he said that its the driveshaft... going to take it to a driveshaft shop and have them work on that and go from there.
  18. I'm at 75k miles.. it won't do it at 45... the lowest speed its done it at is like 55... I found 70 is a sweet spot and won't do it. but 60-68 is the worst!
  19. I don't feel like mine has a sputter or shutter feeling. It's just a deep base kind of sound and slight vibration... Took it to another shop on Saturday he disagreed on the one shop telling me it may be the torque converter... he suggest I got the tires balanced again and lower my PSI from 45 to 35. He suggested not to get the balance done at discount tires like I did before. He also said my drive shaft did have a little play in it. No one really has an exact answer for me it seems like a guessing game. I'm thinking of swapping wheels/tires with a friend and seeing what that does to at least narrow that situation out.
  20. when it happens, if you set cruise at the speed its happening at will it just keep doing it or go away? i can set my cruise at 66 and it will do it the entire time but still in the phase of whoom...quiet...whoom...quiet...
  21. Do you hear the problem more than feel it? I hear mine more so than feel it... really really bugging me.
