  1. So I noticed my ambient temp this morning was 32 degrees and I got the ice message warning. I noticed it came all until the afternoon when it was 50 degrees out. I disconnected the battery and purchased an oem one. Installed it and took it for a ride. I noticed the temp when up to 65 degrees but I was a high of 55 outside. I drove it home and it stayed at 61 on the screen. I let the truck sit for about a few hours and took it for a ride. It dropped from 61 to 51 after driving for about an 15 minutes but went up to 55 degrees before parking. At that time it 47 degrees outside. I just checked it after 2 hours and it’s still reading 55. Can this be just a bad sensor? It sealed in a new packaged when I purchased it. Or can a weak battery cause this? Just trying to figure this out.
  2. I purchased oem lower ball joints for my 2016 Silverado and I’m having a tough time finding the Kent Moore ball joint tool to install and crimp the ball joints onto the aluminum control arms. Does anyone know if there’s another tool or method to crimp down the ball joints after install? Oem does not have a clamp method.
  3. I have a 2016 Z71 Silverado with Aluminum upper and lower control arms. I need to replace the lower ball joints and wondering to just replace upper as well but can't find replacement oem ball joints anywhere. Does anyone know of a gm part number? My local dealer gave me a part number of 22855747 for the lower ones to be used on aluminum control arms but had no idea for the option on uppers.
  4. Smh, to get to it I would have to remove the upper pan, differential, water pump and some other stuff. Wouldn’t even make sense to do unless I’m a do a DOD/ AFM delete. GM engineers are from another planet lol.
  5. I noticed a small leak around the sensor next to the cam phaser magnet. Can anyone explain of the timing cover has to come out to replace this? If facing the engine its left of the cam phaser magnet. No oil pressure issues or check engine light. I just noticed it because I recently changed the O ring in the phaser and wanted to keep an eye on it.
  6. Ok I have to head to the dealer after work to pick up the new pan. I was sold the ac-Delco stuff part #88864346
  7. Yup I did all that. I didn’t add oil at all. It’s been sitting since Friday without oil. The oil that’s keeps coming down is small amounts. I put the rtv then waited an hour to torque and the plan was to fill after 24 hours. I attached a pic of the leak. The surface was bone dry when we installed it. From some off reason it doesn’t want to behave.
  8. That’s the thing I didn’t add oil yet. The oil that’s I guess up in the valve train is what keeps running down after a few days.
  9. So my mechanic installed my lower oil pan today on my 2016 Silverado 5.3 and we waited 1hour to torque the bolts down. I also let the truck drain for 4 days prior to install because I broke a bolt that I guess was torqued too many times. The install went well new pan from GM but oil just running after a few hours. When we installed it it was bone dry but after 3 hours I saw a small wet spot near a corner mating surface. I use permetex ultra black will this eventually dry after 24 hours air do I have to do this again? We also didn’t scuff up the pan because the dealer techs said not to.
  10. I have a 2016 Silverado z71 5.3 and I’m going to swap out the lower oil pan because it has a small leak. I purchased the pan from the Chevrolet dealer but they didn’t have the torque specs or tight pattern. I’m sure they did have it but I guess too busy to look it up lol. My truck doesn’t come with the gasket so I also picked up the AC Delco rtv. But I’m having a hard time finding the procedure to install this and allowing it to cure correctly. Can someone help with this? Thx
  11. My 2016 Silverado has a very small leak near where the lower oil pan meets I guess the block. I have been tightening the bolts for two months now but decided to drop the pan and service the leak. My question is can the pan be reused or best to replace? And I believe mine has the rtv which looks like crap from the dealer smh. Is there a process and tight pattern to the rtv? Also should I wait to torque down?
  12. I have noticed the last three times when fueling up my service StabiliTrak warning comes up when starting the truck and instantly goes away. It happened once before but now three fill-ups in a row. Any help on this? Thx.
  13. I hope so but this might be the last straw. Great truck but always fixing quality control issues. I’m usually on the highway with y family on baseball tournament trips. Thx god they were home when it happened and I wasn’t on a major highway I actually just got off it. I checked the dash ground and it looked like it was already done by the dealer. No insulation near the ground.
  14. I've had this truck since practically new and never happened. Should not happen to any vehicle. I was told to check the grounds on the body and front drivers dash speaker. So far I just cleaned the chassis one and it was covered in junk. No contact to the body.
  15. Driving this morning and power just instantly went out. Ac was running and that's what made me notice it when it shut off and I looked at my gauges and nothing was on. The truck was coasting so I was able to turn and pull it into a parking spot. Steering wheel didn't even lock up. I had finish getting fuel 10 minutes prior. Truck started back up and pump is on. Anyone ever have this problem? No warnings or engines lights on or pending.
  16. Removed manifold to replace gasket and ports are dry as well bolt holes. Mechanic mentioned valve over was wet on edges so that was replaced as well. Hoping it’s that. Will keep an eye on it.
  17. Yeah it’s not drying up and to answer the coolant question it’s still running Dex-cool.
  18. Definitely oil and coming from the last bolt on drivers side. Is that bolt going into an oil gallery? Seem worse last night that usual so definitely getting worse.
  19. Definitely oil. But not sure if its the valve cover. Crossing my fingers.
  20. So I was able to get under the truck this morning and noticed that it is Oil. The level is normal and its not smoking. Hoping its the valve cover gasket.
  21. So my exhaust manifold on my drivers side has been wet around the rear bolt and gasket area. I’m not sure if it’s oil or condensation? The reason I say that is it doesn’t burn or smell like oil but looks like it or a rust stain color. It only happens when running and dries up quick. The truck drives fine. Also no smoking at the exhaust pipe. What could this be? I purchased a new manifold, arp bolts, gaskets and valve cover gasket just to replace it but doesn’t look bad. Truck has 101k on it.
  22. So I was doing my spring/summer oil change and noticed this stain on the drivers side head/block. I don’t think it’s oil but I’m also not sure why it is. I sprayed it down with brake cleaner and it left like a water line stain. I also noticed it coming from the rear location of the exhaust manifold on the driver's side. I also see some burnt spots in the middle of the manifold. The rear manifold bolt looks wet when the truck is running but not oil cause it doesn't smell.
  23. So I'm looking into doing a trans flush using AMSOIL trans fluid on my 2016 Silverado 5.3 with the 6l80. So I noticed they have two types of fluid and I’m not sure what’s best for my application. I have 100k on the truck currently. I don’t trailer anything in it just use it more for every day driving to and from work and weekend baseball trips with my kid. So lots of driving in the city. I recently upgraded the thermal bypass and it has been serviced by the dealer using AC Delco around 60k. I use AMSOIL for everything else but the trans so that’s my reason for switching. Also, it makes a sound when the fluid starts to get hot kinda like a sizzling sound. Truck shifts great no problems but I believe the sound is the cheap Ac Delco fluid when it gets too hot. My brother Denali did that as well until he switched to AMSOIL. I just want to make sure I get the correct one. The truck is also completely stocked. I paste the two types AMSOIL carries.
