  1. So far so good for me after I fixed my leaky back glass. Evidently water was leaking on to electrical connections back behind the rear seats. The dealership was clueless.
  2. Add this to the list of things that can cause this. Mine had no problems for awhile and now one trip to the car wash and it happened. Went away quickly though. Maddening.
  3. After this happened to me, this seems to be a somewhat common problem relatively speaking. I had this issue initially where it wouldn't recognize any fob and was stuck in the program loop. I could start with app, but couldn't drive. It ended up working after a couple of hours while a tow truck was on the way. It turned in to a truck battery issue. Some have replaced their truck battery and all was well. Some have a battery drain by itself, or in conjunction the key fob issue. There is a service bulletin about unexplained key fob issues with no apparent root cause found. It discusses replacing the drivers window switch/control, the door latch assembly, or both. Some have replaced the window switch alone and it has gone away. I replaced the window switch since it's cheap and easy to do. On the door switch, the theory is that a bad switch send the key lock/unlock signal over and over and puts it in program mode. Some also attribute this to the battery drain since the system turns on over and over. Some have said that holding the start button for 15 seconds will take it out of the mode and let you start. When it happened to me a few times, I just disconnected the negative battery post and all was well until it happened again. I carried around a 10mm socket. Also if you have something in the OBD2 port, like retractable steps, start stop disable, etc., there are reports of this causing issues. Lastly, which I think was cause of my issue, is the rear glass leaking. There is a technical service bulletin about that too. I had noticed that the battery drain happened when it rained. I started digging around and my headliner was wet. I found the leak and there are numerous electrical connections below that could have gotten moisture or wet and cause drain, which in turn could cause the key fob issues. The frame for the rear glass is plastic and cracks. There are two ways to fix, fill full of silicone or body sealant, or replace the back glass. This is a known problem. I'm hoping this fixed my issue and my battery was drained to like 5v several times, so I think my new battery may be toast. It was low again the other day, but haven't had the key fob issue again. By the way, the dealer had it for 5 days, couldn't find an issue, and several days later of course the battery drained.
  4. Mine started out this way..came back to truck from hardware store visit. Key fob not detected. Went in, replaced the battery in key fob. Same thing. It would start with phone app, but couldn't drive. Called a tow truck. Came back later waiting on tow truck and everything works. Thought it was a one off. Then started having truck battery drain. Got new battery, all seemed fixed for a week. The back to random key fob not recognized, dead battery. Took to dealer, of course it's fine the whole week they had it. Then one day...dead battery. It was raining. Then put 2 and 2 together. I had washed truck the day of first hardware store visit. Week after being fine, rain. I started looking for leaks. First removed drivers door panel as some have reported water intrusion there. Check all the electrical connections...no water, no corrosion. Start looking around right after another rain....feel damp carpet by drivers rear door. Thought the door was leaking. No leak. Keep looking...bingo. Headliner all the way back on passenger side very wet as is rear carpet, but hard to find unless you are looking. Rear glass leaking. Do a search on it. Plastic mounting bracket cracks and leaks. Known problem. Removed rear spoiler above cab, sealed glass channel and stopped the leak. My only thought is that the water was shorting out some electrical connection. I also replaced drivers window switch as some had that fix the battery drain and key fob issue...which I think is related for some. I would check your truck battery voltage if you are having these keyfob issues.
  5. Update Went out day before yesterday battery was dead as a doornail. Heavy, heavy rain. I investigated more thoroughly and found damp carpet by rear door. Kept looking and it was wet further towards the back of the cab. Look up and the headliner was wet and even more wet on the passenger side all the way at the back. See water dripping from back glass. Evidently water was shorting an electrical connection somewhere. Once it dries, it goes back to normal. The problem is the rear glass frame is plastic and cracks, known problem for several years of Chevy and GMC trucks. There a TSB for it but no recall and help getting fixed from GM is random. I fixed it myself and this video outlines how to fix, as does the TSB. The only other option is the get the whole back glass replaced for $1,000 or more.
  6. I'm in the exact same boat as almost everyone here. 37K miles and truck has never had an issue. It did it once, dead battery, replaced battery, seemed to fix it for a week. One day dead battery out of the blue. Charged on charger until full capacity on the new battery. Came out literally after 1 hour....stuck in program mode. Undid the negative cable, it reset and it was fine. Came out 30 min later....stuck in program mode. My negative cable post assembly was a little loose...grasping for straws here, so I replaced. All was well for 10 days. Came out one morning, stuck in program mode. I finally take it to the dealership. They keep it for a week and do drawdown test, nothing drawing the battery down, can't replicate the issue, so they aren't doing anything. I told them to read the service bulletin about the door latch assembly and window switch. They literally are disregarding it unless they can replicate it, even though the bulletin says it can't be replicated. I may just change the window switch and see what happens, or just go ahead and replace both the door latch and window switch. So frustrating.
  7. So I have two issues. The first might seem simple, but it's maddening. After about 15 minutes of the air conditioning being on, I have two vents that loosen and fall down closing the vent. Warm truck fine, as their AC cools the plastic the vent falls. The dealer is ordering new vents...just wondering if anybody else has the same problem. Also I've had the software update that supposedly fixes the gear shifting issues. I have no issues other than when I'm first taking off, and especially shifting from reverse in to drive. It's very sporadic, but it will slam in to gear and I've had times where people turned around and thought I hit something. Other than this the transmission shifts very smooth and drives like a dream. Of course they've checked it out and didn't find any issues. Anybody else have this problem and has it been fixed and what was done?
  8. I have the same thing. It has popped out twice, and it doesn't fall open when using the Key FOB or button inside. Of course the check it today and find no problem even when clearly didn't fall open when I showed it to the advisor...frustrating.
