  1. I'm considering removing mine on my RST. I've watched several videos on the Tubes of You and all have said there is absolutely no change in MPG. Never really thought of anything hitting the skid plate, and using this as a "feeler"....but I think the skid plate is tough enough to take whatever would hit the valence. Not worried there. I just think it looks so much better!!! That's all that matters, right???
  2. Well I purchased the on from Ebay before reading this, so we'll see how it fits. I did get this from GM......they say its 4.5" high and 12.25" wide, which isn't what I get when I measure. So everyone's measurements are slightly close.......I guess I will see if it fits when I get it and ill report back!!!
  3. So are you saying the 11.22 x 3.84 is the one I need and it should work? Or specifically 12 x 4 is what I need?
  4. OK, so I'm seeing conflicting info out there about bow ties fitting different years. There are apparently two sizes....2016 to 2018 and 2016 to 2019. It appears 2019 bow ties have two different sizes. I measured mine and I get 12" accross by 4" exactly. I found one on Ebay and they say the measurements are 11.22" x 3.84" high. Another ebay seller advised theirs were 9.85" x 3.56" I'm so confused now.
  5. Got the z71's and the RST badging today!! The RST will be somewhat glossy to match the black silverado lettering on the other side. The z71's are matte. They go on Tuesday!!!
  6. That helps, I've seen 2019 bow ties in all black...just didn't know about fit! I will probably order one of those rather than using pastidip. Thanks!!!
  7. I really appreciated your feedback on my RST. I'm going to leave the grille and bumpers the same color (satin steel metallic). But all the badging is going black and I'm putting the rally stripes on hood and tailgate. With that in mind I want to get rid of the chrome on the bow tie. As a last resort I will plasti dip the bow tie on my 20, don't worry, I plan on using a trim removal tool....put painters tape on the grille under where im prying and pop it off. Should come off without a hitch. BUT..... 1. Anyone know if Chevy makes an all black bow tie for the 2020 grille like this one??? (No chrome) 2. Does a bow tie from a 2019 fit a 2020? I know there were some front trim changes. Its either this or my last resort....plasti-dip.
  8. Its surprising easy.....use a blow dryer to heat it up.....use dental floss to "saw" it off, the goo gone to clean it up. Apply the new logo. There's this one too. Both are oem and on ebay, 34 bucks a pair.
  9. Thanks! What really started all this is my truck comes with a black label package. The dealership blacked the Chevrolet lettering, and the Silverado and RST badging will be black....they are waiting for the letters to come in this week. So with all that blacked out, I thought I would black out the z71 logos. They'll put them all on. I guess I thought thats why either the stripes or the blacked out grille would look sweet. But now you make a point with the red tow hooks.
  10. I was really hoping I could get input on this.....but my post may be too much info and pics. Here is really what I wanna know......my RST is satin steel metallic, pictured above ..... 1. Would the grill piece look good blacked out? 2. Should I also black out the bumpers??
  11. These are the mods I had to do to my Du-Ha. It wouldn't fit around the front of the jack because of the full mats. There was a ridge on the mat that came up in front of the jack. It was either cut the Du-Ha or the mat. So I trimmed it out, got crooked in the center but oh well, its packed with stuff and no one will ever see it.
  12. Awesome info!!! Did you splice into the wires or did you just cut the two needed wires from the plug and use them? I'm assuming since the plug is "dead" you really don't need it? Or are the wires completing some type of circuit? I'm only mounting a map light, but I do plan on using an in-line fuse.
  13. I just got this 2020 RST in July. I love this truck, the looks, feel, smaller wheel, tighter steering, and the engine rocks!!! I got the black out package...they put assist steps on it and are waiting on the black lettering to come in. The tailgate letters will be black filled in and the Silverado and RST lettering will be black. Then there's the colored z71 fender logo...it won't go with the black lettering elsewhere. I added the red recovery hooks, love the look!!! What I want advice on are some extra things I want to do to it. 1. Black out the grille with wrap. 2. Put the dual rally stripes on the hood and tailgate. (This may be too much) 3. Black out the door handles. 4. Black out the Z71 logos What are your thoughts so far?? Would it make the truck seamless?? But my big question is should I leave the bumpers the satin steel metallic, or black them with wrap as well? I don't want to make it look like a fake trail boss, but I like the look. Also, has anyone seen these 4x4 decals??? They are GM, but aren't used on the Silverado trucks, but the 4x4 logos in color won't look good with the black accessories. Leave them off? Or go with them? My dealer told me that if there are Z71 fender logos they don't put 4x4 decals on the box. Any input please!!!
  14. Good read, I'm installing my bypass this week. Yes it takes a second to hit the switch, but why should I have to on a feature I hate anyway. If I forget and it shuts off it chugs back to start and I feel like I'm driving an old jalopy!!! Its a stupid feel good feature that in the end will do very little to save emissions and gas. I bought a V8.....I want it to act like it!!!
  15. Which color wire of the hidden harness was the 12v? I want to hook up a map light to it. I do not have the power mirror like you do, so I could tap into that.
  16. I know my lack of storage rant is mostly what sparked this post. Its a simple rant. I knew what I was buying and what I got. But the trucks around my area are scarce. Its hard to find one with all the right options I wanted. Not like in years past. On average there are 10 trucks on my dealers lot whereas before there were 75 to 100 to choose from. I even test drove the Dodge Ram. Other than the storage, I love this truck. It's very much more comfortable to ride and drive than my 2018. This is my 5th Silverado in a row. I lease all mine. I have a great dealer I work with that usually gets me anything I want in a truck with 0 down. Every two to three years I throw back the keys and get a new one. Depends on what promo they run or how many trucks they need to sell. This one is the Rally Sport Z71, and aside from a few gripes I love it and wouldn't have bought anything else. The engine, IMO, has more get up, its tighter, the steering and braking are better. Don't take my gripe for lack of great greatfulness of what I have.
  17. I am removing my overhead console and attaching a copilot map light to it. Its really a perfect spot. I have the basic model, just onstar, and the dome lights. Is there a power wire in this space i can splice into wire the map light to and then body ground the wire to? Can I just splice into one of the LED dome light wires?
  18. Well this is my first post here, I've been lurking and reading since I got my 2020 RST in July. I love this truck, the looks, feel, smaller wheel, tighter steering, and the engine rocks!!! My first negative observation of this year's model is the complete lack of storage. This one Chevy got wrong. Ill start my rant at the drivers door and go around. 1. There is only space in the bottom of the door, they deleted the cubby under the arm rest. 2. They deleted the small "ash tray" like compartment under the dash by the steering wheel. 3. No sunglass compartment. 4. Added a completely USELESS tray on the dash. Good luck reaching into that. And whatever you do put in it reflects on the windshield. 5. The middle console just sucks. Only 2 cup holders and the little compartments around it are worthless, other than to place your keys/fob. 6. Inside the top center storage console is much smaller the previous model. Not as deep. The bottom storage is even smaller because of the vent that has to run under there to feed air to the back seat. 7. The top glove box is shallow, less deep. 8. No where to mount my flashlight. 9. The LED interior lighting sucks, its too dim, and pointed at the doors, not where you need it. Now all these things may not seem like much but I'm a first responder/LEO and I used every bit of the spaces that were there. My only saving grace is I went out and bought a Du-Ha under seat storage tray. This has been a life saver so far. But everything is still either out of reach or people have to move. I also had to trim it because of the full mats. So.....there is a point here.....what are you guys doing to store things up front? In particular I miss my full center console. Is there anything that can go in that very tight space on the floor at about the same height? Where are you putting your cell phones, sanitizers, etc.? I have a ton of stuff clipped to my visors, that helps. I got large rubber bands to hold stuff. Problem is ....I'm a neat freak about my trucks.
