Hello fellow truck lovers, 2014 silverado 5.3, 0 oil pressure stop engine immediately, sound familiar? Truck has 124,000 miles, never had any oil pressure codes or low oil pressure, all oil changes and services done at dealer since purchased new, including new tires and even windshield wipers, last oil change was 800 miles ago. Changed pressure sensor and pulled screen under it screen was clean as a whistle still no oil pressure pulled filter started momentarily, nothing there. Removed small oil pan cover from bottom of pan, sump screen is clean but fine, what looks to be aluminum more like dust than shavings in pan. Being that the oil pumps first to the filter then to the motor and the filter should catch anything that might damage the engine top side and there was nothing in the screen below the pressure sensor would I be safe to think there was no damage to engine. I probably haven't ran engine 15 seconds with no oil pressure. Is there any chance that GM will assist with any costs being that it is out of warranty. I can replace the pump myself but if GM will cover anything why wouldn't I let them. The only problem is that they have to do an evaluation before they will commit to any out of warranty assistance and I need to comit to $2000 before a wrench is turned, I was told that it depends alot on customer loyalty. If I do decide to do it myself would it be a good idea to pull a couple of rod caps and see what I see as long as I have them exposed? What are your thoughts on flushing the engine? I did notice a slight belt whine the morning I lost oil pressure so I thought about pulling the vac pump and see what it looks like before I go any further. Any thoughts or recommendations greatly appreciated.
