    I think the trailer connector ground is faulty or one of the trailer turn signals is missing ground.

    I have a 2001 2500hd with 8.1 (496) and allison transmission 4.10 rear that gets 11 mpg and gets 10 mpg towing. I love the power and would not trade it for a new truck.
