  1. Thanks for the detail information and reply. My Brand new truck experienced lifter failure before my first oil change. This is my 2nd L87 vehicle and my third gm v8 that has had this issue. I've been a die hard GM fan but my patience is wearing thin. GM customer service has been sub par so far. I will look into those links. Thanks again.
  2. The newer trucks/suvs have the latest GM Global B architecture. No one has a solution yet to deactivate DFM. For a period of time during Covid situation GM shipped vehicles with DFM deactivated from the factory. I had one. My question is to anyone of the GM techs or Professional Tuners on the forum or anyone with expertise on this matter. Can the DFM be deactivated at the dealership with their computer/software. I know the computers give them full control of the ECM parameters, and I know they won't do it, but I'm curious as to if the ability is there.
  3. @Shiva My 2024 6.2 v8 just went in for the exact same sound. I mean you could put our videos side by side and be a perfect match. They replaced all the lifters on the passenger side. I've had 2 previous vehicles do the exact same thing and I had the lifters replaced by the dealer. My truck also when warmed, the noise would lessen some , but go away completely. I had to leave my truck overnight and gave them specific instructions to leave it in the shop overnight and not outside so that when they started it in the morning it would be inside the shop and the noise could be better isolated. Hope this helps.
  4. With a lot of the on going issues with current production V8 engines, What would you like to see GM produce? Build your ideal V8, But something realistic that would be mass produced. 1. A 5.3 or resurrect the 5.7 in some form,6.0 or 6.2 2. Pushrod or OHC is fine. No turbo for me. 3. Dual injectors. Multiport and direct Inj. Thereby eliminating gummed up intake valves 4. Absolutely NO DFM of any sort. 5. 385 to 420 Hp is fine / Torque Min. 400ft/lb 6. A well built 6 or 8 sp transmission is all I need.
  5. So add another L87 6.2 v8 with lifter failure to the list. Approximately 2100 miles. Started with intermittent lifter tick for 2 to 5 minutes on cold start every morning. Took it to the dealer and verified the lifters were failing. My 3rd Brand new GM vehicle with lifter failure before the 1st oil change. 2022 SS Camaro, 2021 GMC Sierra 5.3 and now my 2024 6.2 Silverado. Previous vehicles they changed all lifters when failure was before 8000 miles now they say just the lifters on that bank. Anyone know when that changed? I opened a case and told them I EXPECT and extend components coverage letter for a serious length of period. If not I will never buy another GM product. GM get rid of these Garbage ass lifters. You are not saving fuel with this bullshit or auto start stop.
  6. Look on the back of the engine. There should be this date of manufacturing tag on the rear of the engine on the right or left cylinder head. You will probably have to get on the ground to get a good picture like I did. First 2 numbers under the L87 is 24. The year it was produced, and I believe the next 3 or 4 numbers are the number of days in that year
  7. Did you ever find out what your issue was? I took mine to the dealer this morning and the consensus is it's the lifters after looking at my video, Plus they know me due to my previous 2 vehicles having lifter failures before the first oil change. I will know tomorrow for sure. I already have opened a case with GM AGAIN.

  10. My 2022 GMC Sierra with a 5.3 did this occassionaly, But eventually I took it to the dealer and they decided to change the lifters. Unfortunately they dropped my vehicle off of the lift and I got a new truck. That truck made the same sound but it came from the factory without DFM activated. I put 20k miles on it before I traded it.MY 2022 SS camaro made that sound and guess what?. Got new lifters. My current 2024 Silverado RST Z71 L87 6.2 v8 does the same thing occassionally on cold start ups. IT is frustrating. Some dealers will say its normal and others are tired of GM bullshit and will put new lifters in it. My dealers have been awesome.
  11. Ongoing. Current class action lawsuit is filed against GM. I Personally have had lifters go out on a 2022 Camaro SS and currently having issues with a 2021 Sierra. I personally hope gm gets severely hammered. It would be nice also to have the engineer who designed this crap to get from behind his/her computer and turn wrenches on these vehicles when they break.
  12. I Currently have 2000 miles on my truck, it started tapping/ticking around 1700 miles. It's a a 2021 Sierra 4x4 X31 Without DFM. 5.3 w'8speed. Build date 10/21. Engine build date 9/21. Lifters making tapping sound intermittently,no codes. Have an appt. to bring in next week. Funny thing is it doesn't make the tapping/ticking noise all the time. My 2022 Camaro SS did the same thing at only 800 miles. Got the ALL the the lifters changed and traded it in for this truck. Maybe I should buy a lotto ticket. Lol
