  1. I hope that pic helps. It's the one on my 2022 Custom model 2500HD gasser.
  2. Sounds about right. A little nose heavy (compared to mine) probably because of your dual batteries. Your rear axle weight is kind of light with a long bed as compared to my short bed. And I have the tri-fold heavy tonneau cover. Interesting...But still right in the area of being quite close to the same. Edit: perhaps the long bed puts a little more weight on the front axle due to it's extended length. Hmmmm, food for thought....and thank you for replying....this is all very interesting to me....
  3. The reason I posted that is because I haven't seen anyone else's CAT scales numbers. I was just surprised at how heavy they really are with 2 people, full tank of gas, and bit of gear in it. My door decal says 7178, so going from that to 7780 just shocked me a bit is all. My wife and I can makeup 350 of the extra weight plus the tonneau cover plus the 6" wide steps and a bit of gear, perhaps 100lbs or less. Weird how the weight can add up quickly.
  4. Just drop the shifter into manual and it will show what gear it's in bottom right of your speedometer screen. Our camper is only 8klbs but yes, the tow/haul mode does lock out 6th gear. And with tow/haul mode on your rpms at 64 should be around 2100 not 1500. 1500rpm is 6th gear. And from the picture you posted I see you are a Grand Design owner too. We have a 2023 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH. LOVE IT!!!
  5. If you use tow/haul mode 6th should be locked out already. Are you using that mode? If not, towing a 5th wheel that I'm guessing weighs quite a bit could be all of your problem. Try tow/haul mode. Hopefully problem solved.
  6. I have that 225 buck option on my custom model. Priceless in my opinion....And yes, that should have been standard on all models...
  7. Yup, just a plain jane 2500HD custom gasser. She's a porker, but I love every ounce of her.....the beast as we call it. Well I call it the big chicken, makes my wife laugh....lol... I just saw on your profile that you live in Beverly MA. I lived in Chelmsford back in the mid 80's going to aircraft school in Boston. Very cool. I was a mall cop at the Burlington mall back in 86.....LOL....... I was best known as the guy who could open up any car door with a slim jim....lol....People would lock themselves out of their car, call mall security. And it was me opening up their doors......great memories....and no I was never a thief or stole cars. I had the gift of opening them up is all...lol.....We get up that way often for friends in Salem, NH.
  8. For those of you that tow with these huge beasts, our camper weighed in at exactly 8klbs. We towed it 255 miles today, got 8.6mpg on back roads and highway 280 heading towards Goodwater, AL. Not bad at all in my opinion. Never a problem with power, never a problem at all. That thing will tow 8klbs. without even breaking a sweat. I LOVE our beast!!!! Best truck ever!!!
  9. 2022 Custom Model, Crewcab short bed 4x4. It has the tri fold tonneau cover and the 6" steps. Full tank of gas with my wife and I in it. Maybe 100lbs in the back seat area with the seats folded up weighed on Thursday. See the attached CAT scale ticket. Second weigh in and pic was today, full tank of gas, wife and I, and our 2023 Grand Design 2800BH with a full fresh water tank (52 gallons, approx 420lbs) that is located directly in front of the campers axles. It was an interesting test for me. We never go dry camping, but might in the future. Anyhow I was shocked at how much it weighed with a full tank of gas with just my wife and I in it. We total 350 on a bad day...lol....So damn, the beast needs to go on a diet.....LOL!!!
  10. This is kind of a confusing topic for me. With our 2022 custom model crew cab gasser picked up our new 8k lb. camper in mid September in Jacksonville, FL. I towed it 255 miles to Byron, GA in 95' heat running at 65mph. Trans never went above 182. Today I towed our camper from Byron, GA to Goodwater, AL. Trans never went above 170. It was 45' out, super cold for us but I've never seen it above 182 in very high heat and lots of hills...Is it safe to assume this was an earlier model problem?
  11. Perhaps, he's right. But the bypass gasses are intermingled in any engine. They aren't totally separate in any case.
  12. I only have one, never heard of 2 being needed for any engine. I always use JL catch cans. They run about 150 on Amazon and are super easy to install.
  13. It's a little late right now but tomorrow I'll take a pic of what's in mine. I think I have about 2k miles on it since I had the first oil change at 2500 miles. I installed mine at 300 miles and at 2500 miles there was maybe an ounce in it. I haven't looked at it since but will certainly look at it tomorrow and post a pic for you. You've got me curious as well. Well the suspense was killing me. So I took a pic of what is in my catch can and I can honestly say I wasn't expecting that much oil in it. I'm just shy of 2k miles since it was last emptied at the 2500 mile oil change. There is a little over an ounce, 1.2 to be exact in the catch can. Most of my driving is city and some highway. I would say probably 80% city, 20% highway. No towing since I had the oil change. I'm actually quite surprised how much it was. I'm glad I looked. Thanks for the idea!!! It appears to me that a catch can is probably a really good idea on these engines.

  15. What I'm wondering is due to the upgraded infotainment system and the new 10 speed being used on the gassers is how much of a premium is GM going to want for those (basically huge upgrades) in my opinion? I would love the upgraded infotainment system but can do without the 10 speed auto on the gas. I love my 6 speed. I don't think this will be a small increase in price, but I could be wrong.
  16. I'll see what GM can come up with first and go from there. Thank you very much for taking the time out of your day to respond to me. I really appreciate that and I will let everyone know when and what the fix is for other owners.
  17. Interesting....Thank you so much....I love doing research and will do that ASAP. I really appreciate you helping me with this sir! Also would you mind expanding a bit on where you bought your steering shaft from? I have tools from hell from being an aircraft mechanic all these years so I've probably got the tools to do the job...
  18. I've never been off road with it so I'm not sure there. I was thinking steering shaft as well but haven't found a dealer yet that I trust around the Atlanta area. I may have to take it to a country dealership and have them take care of it. Thanks for the response. I appreciate it.
  19. That is a great point you make. I installed the JLT, well now JL catch can on my 2022 2500 custom when I first bought it and I think you are absolutely right. I'm just making sure it is perfect for the next owner. LOL.....You win.....lol....
  20. I only tried 93 octane once and didn't notice any difference in mpg nor power. I was hoping the ECM would advance timing and make it worth the extra money for the 93 in power and mpg. Nope...nothing....didn't notice any difference at all. I had high hopes though....87 for me.
  21. I have this weird issue that is not overly concerning but I still think it might be a problem. Anyhow 2022 2500 custom model gasser to begin with. I've noticed this anomaly from day one but now 4k miles later it's starting to get to me. When I'm in a corner at pretty much any speed and tap the brakes, the steering wheel will momentarily have this bump to center itself. Doesn't matter if it's left or right. I still get this little bump to center when I apply the brakes. It becomes more pronounced the higher the speeds are in a corner. It's not like it tries to rip itself out of my hand, it's just a bump to try and center itself. Has anyone else experienced this? And sometimes when I hit a pothole I can feel just a slight metallic bump from the steering wheel.....Any ideas?
