  1. it honestly smells like unburnt fuel. pig rich. I assume it's just the start up process, but again, it happens ever when the truck is warm (went out, came home, parked for 5 min, leaving again...) In this case, the catalysts should be warm and functioning. my gas mileage is nothing to brag about but i don't think it's an issue. i'm getting 13-17 around my hilly town.
  2. yes, the door is open. i'm not a complete moron. I never experienced this with my old truck, a tacoma, nor my wife's car. Understandably, backing up through the exhaust can produce some smell in the car, but it's as if i have the windows down and a fan aimed into the cab. I usually end up rolling down the windows for a bit after getting going. It's really bad. I have to say, after 20 years of not driving american vehicles, I've quickly been reminded as to why I stopped in the first place.
  3. $100 bucks might be worth it. Taking apart the dash to get to it might not be. Thanks for the info. will stew on it for a bit. whish there was a obd port hack or something else...
  4. I hate it. It's beyond annoying. I get it, cleaner environment, etc etc but i end up turning it off every time i drive because it's a stupid, shakes the whole truck when it shuts off and starts up, and i'm sure all the useless starting after being off for 5 seconds costs more than just running it. I don't want or need it for the 2k miles a year i drive this truck. Is there a pattern/etc to disable it by default at start up? I know some cars have a pattern like key on tap brake twice press fog light press button x and it turns a feature off. anything like that?
  5. Backing out of the garage, i smell the exhaust every single time. cold, warm, hot... anyone else? I don't think i have an exhaust leak (nothing audible). could it be bad seals? doors? rear sliding window?
  6. Looking at the carfax on mine (before i got it) it was replaced on my truck as well around 29k miles. Seems to be a common problem. Thanks for posting the TSB. those are super helpful when speaking to idiot service advisors who don't know ****** about ******. Very helpful for us owners!
  7. i can't hear anything over his yapping in the video. What exact second do you hear it? I have something coming in too. def not a belt or from the front of the truck. seems to be behind me (rear drivers side). high-pitched wine-like sound, but it's not rpm fluctuating. it's either making it or it's not and it seems to be TPS controlled/activated. i can only reproduce it when i'm driving slow (eg, with my wife and kids in the truck). when i'm romping around solo, i never hear it because i'm in the throttle a lot heavier. It's really 5% throttle, in the 20-50 mph range (observed) same pitch regardless of speed or rpm (which tells me it might not be gear or diff wine at all). When i park the truck i hear a similar high pitched noise for 20 seconds after turning it off. I assume this is the fuel pump primer or something still running, but it's not the same sound.
  8. ok thanks for that info. I don't have the carbon liner then, as it just says GMC on it. I ended up finding the window sticker folded up in a manual in the glove box and it also is not listed so i think it's confirmed. Yes, water proof is a must. I was looking at the roll up with drains the RetraxPro XR. I assume i can use one of the pre-existing drains in the bed liner floor? I won't want to cut/drill.
  9. I just purchased my 19 1500 Denali used, so I don't 100% know what I have. How can I tell what bed liner i have? I know it's the short bed, but i don't know if t's the carbon one or not. It doesn't look like it's CF, but i can't be sure. What are you all using for Tonneau covers? I'm looking for one that will lock with the tail gate (so i can travel with suitcases/etc and not worry about things at truck stops/restaurants) Must be waterproof. must be 'easy' to get into and re-latch for in and out access. I'm debating a slide-up vs a tri-fold and there's 20 brands of each. What do you all have?
  10. Prices are crazy. They lure you in with 'starting at $39,000' and by the time you have a truck configured that you want to drive, it's 80+k. Some of the Tundra's i spec'ed hit 90s! it's insane. I ended up HAVING to buy a used truck off-lease to be able to afford it. Not sure we'll have many 'new' trucks coming off inventory to buy a few years old. Even leases i looked at were like 7k down, 1400 a month for 3 years. insanity.
  11. I have heard it too. Super part throttle, like 5% with no 'load' on it. To me, it sounds like the read end, not the trans, but i can't be sure.
