UCA recommendations and advice.
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
I do plan to have an alignment shop look at it and align it. I have read so many horror stories about the UCA'S and ball joints going out so I was just looking for a recommendation on an upgraded replacement if mine are worn. If they need to be replaced, I will not replace them with factory parts, they should not need to be replaced in 20,000 miles. As far as I am concerned the X31 package is a joke. If we treated these trucks like you see in some of the latest TV commercials from Chevy, the front suspension would collapse. So now can someone recommend a good replacement that will last? -
Looking for advice on UCA replacements for my 2019 Sierra SLE with X31. It is all stock as built including tires and @ 21,000 miles it started wandering slightly and when I had the oil changed the dealer said the camber is off on both front wheels. Before spending the money on an alignment, I would like to replace the Upper Control Arms with something better and hopefully greaseable. I do not want to go back to stock, what is recommended. I will be keeping it all stock, no lift kits or oversize tires or wheels. Thanks

Low RPM shake/ vibration?. stutter?
Tom Hoshock replied to Dersch's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
I had issues with the transmission shudder back in February of this year at 19175 miles. The dealer did the recommended flush and the issue seemed to go away until a couple of days ago. At first, I thought it was the road I was on because it was a rough road. The other day I went out of town and noticed it under light acceleration, and it started to do it at steady speeds. Also, if I accelerate hard and let up the rpm's do not drop back right away, and it takes some time before it upshifts. Looks like it is going back to the dealer again. I am starting to wish I had my old 2008 2500HD with 217500 miles back. I only did normal maintenance and repairs on it, and it was running and driving fine when I traded it in. The only reason I got a newer truck was because of rust from the road salt Ohio uses. -
Thanks I will check out AllData and repairprocedures.com.

Wondering if there is a place where we can view all the TSB'S for our trucks? Is there a link on this site that I missed? It would be really nice if you had a copy of the tsb before talking to the dealer about issues. Thanks

Shift to park message, cannot move shifter.
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
An update. I had previously installed a Denali dash cluster, and it was not allowing the BCM to accept the mileage. I had the dealer switch my instrument cluster back to my stock one and then he was able to program the mileage into the BCM. He then reinstalled the Denali cluster and it also accepted the programming so all is well. I am really glad I bought the extended warranty on this truck. All I had to pay was the deductible. -

Shift to park message, cannot move shifter.
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Just a quick update to my shift to park message. I contacted the dealer and they had to have it towed. They finally got it in the shop and determined that the BCM was defective and ordered a new one. The truck was supposed to be finished today but for some reason they cannot get the BCM to accept the programming for the mileage from the old module. Hopefully, I will get it back on Monday. They opened a trouble ticket with GM tech. They said the truck starts, runs, shifts and drives but they must get the mileage programmed before they can release it. Also, since I mentioned that I was experiencing the transmission shudder that they will flush and service the transmission under warranty. Got my fingers crossed. -
Friday, I went to move my truck out of the garage and after I started it, I could not move the shifter lever. I tried adjusting the steering column and wiggling it around and no go. I then shut the engine off and got a message shift to park. I still could not move the shifter and when I opened the door, the system would not shut down. I had to unhook the battery. I let it sit with the battery unhooked for an hour and tried again, still no go. Right now, it is at the dealer, and he cannot look at it for a few days. Anyone else had this happen? I did a google search and it seems like this has been a GM problem for quite some time with various causes. Truck is a 2019 Sierra 1500 with only 19,000 miles.

IntelliHaul 2.0 Installation

Thanks, that is what I wanted to hear. Did you order your truck with the intellihaul 2.0 or install it yourself? -
Scan tool options.
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Engines & Drivetrain (V8, Duramax, TurboMax)
Hey guys, thanks for all the helpful advice. I have the latest update ordered for my Mac ET6250 scan tool so as soon as it comes in, I will run a scan on my truck to see if there are any codes in the history. I felt that since I already had a high-end tool the update was the best way to go. When I bought the tool a few years ago I got a good deal on it as the Pawn shop that had it did not know what it was worth. -

Well, I finally made up my mind. I decided to update my Mac ET6250 Scan Tool. The update will allow me to download software updates for one year from the date of activation so I should have some 2024 diagnostics on before the sub runs out. I am anxious to get the update installed so I can check for any codes in the history. -

I am trying to decide if I should update my Mac scan tool or put it up for sale and just buy something like a BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool. I doubt I will need a full featured scanner until my truck gets a little older. I bought the extended warranty for it because of all the possible lifters and transmissions problems so I should be worry free for a few more years. TheBlueDriver will allow me to check for trouble codes and help keep the dealers honest. -

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Since I already have a very good Mac Scout 6250 scan tool, I might be better off buying the latest update subscription. It is good for one year and will allow free updates to the tool database during that time. The sub also includes one year of access to the Mac repair source repair database. There are a total of nine vehicles in my family that I can use it on so I think I can defiantly make use of it. The only time I would need to update again is when one of us buys a vehicle newer than the subscription date. Most of the scan tools out there do not come with a repair database. I checked with Mac on the added features and tests that the latest update will provide, and it looks like it will do anything I could ever need. Seems like the best long-term solution. Gotta think on it some more. -

I did a search and read reviews on it, and it seems pretty sketchy at best. I do not think I want to chance it after reading reviews of all the issues with malware and problems getting it set up and running. Have you used this program? -
As the title indicates, I am looking into different scan tool for my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. I have a Mac Scout 6250 that I bought for a very good price a few years back and it is a great tool, but the software is out of date, and it will cost $1,099.00 to update it to 2023. It will not read my truck without the update. I started researching and found the BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool for iPhone & Android, and the INNOVA 5610, OBD2 Bidirectional Scan Tool. Both offer repair solutions and suggested fixes and link up to a cell phone. Any thoughts or user experience with either of them? Recommendation on what you are using. If I update my Mac tool it will update the diagnostics and the repair database on the tool. After the subscription runs out, I will lose the repair database, but the diagnostics will remain. I have thought about updating the Mac 6250 and at the end of the year buying the Bluedriver for $119.00 to get access to the free repair data included. The Mac tool can do bidirectional testing and procedures. https://www.amazon.com/BlueDriver-Bluetooth-Professional-iPhone-Android/dp/B00652G4TS/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3EMUQKG8QOAUO&keywords=bluetooth+scan+tool+obd2&qid=1675002991&sprefix=bluetooth+sca%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-2&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840#customerReviews https://www.amazon.com/5610-Bidirectional-Lifetime-OE-Level-Functions/dp/B07Z481NJM?&linkCode=sl1&tag=validconsumer-20&linkId=dd7a9d3e9df36d4b9d963b31aa28c7a9&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl#customerReviews

IntelliHaul 2.0 Installation
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
My big concern is compatibility between the IntelliHaul 2.0 and the DSP harness both piggybacked to the radio control module. I would really like to know if anyone has added the Kicker amp upgrade to a truck that has the Intellihaul 2.0 system from the factory or as a dealer installed option. I spoke to my dealer's service dept, and they have never done this combination. I tried to reach out to MVI but his website is a real mess with all of the various video's he keeps producing. I wish he would just offer what is currently available. -
Front Camera GM Parts & Installation Help
Tom Hoshock replied to GarandPappy's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
GarandPappy, I also have been wanting to install a front camera in my 2019 Sierra with the IOS radio. I was considering the Intellihaul 2.0 system but don't think I can justify the $1200 price. I just found a front camera kit at Camera Source that integrates with the IOS radio in my truck. and it was $549.00. I can get it with a 10% military discount, so I am really thinking seriously about getting it. Here is a link if you want to check it out. https://www.camerasource.com/automotive-backup-cameras/gm-front-side-cameras/2019-2021-gm-front-camera-kit-for-8-ios-iot-display -
I am looking forward to installing the IntelliHaul 2.0 camera system on my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. Can anyone on here tell me if it will work in conjunction with my subwoofer and dsp amp from GM? I noticed that the camera system also ties into the radio control module with a piggyback plug. I have an IOS radio. With the intelliahaul module and a second piggyback plug it will get very crowded under the dash in that area. Has anyone done this install along with the subwoofer kit?

Kicker subwoofer and DSP amp install.
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Today I was able to get the FlexTune app to work on my android phone. I disconnected the truck from the phone and also disconnected the phone from the radio. I then searched for available Bluetooth devices with the phone and the Kicker amp showed up as what looked like a part number. I connected to it and then reconnected the truck to the phone and started playing some music. I opened the FlexTune app on the phone and then clicked on the device tab on the screen. The same part number showed up and then it connected. My son and I played around with it, and it works pretty well. Now I need to change the dip switch settings on the sub amp and fine tune it. I now have the base output on the built in eq turned down and centered the mid and highs settings. This really changed the sound quality in my truck. I will install the Kicker sub controller next so I can tone down the bass when needed. I think with some more tweaking I can get it to sound almost good as the Bose system in my Cadillac CT6 You can really shift the sound stage with the FlexTune app. Now all I hear from the front speakers is the mids and highs and they are much cleaner. If you do not tune the system by using the app all the upgrade does is add bass. JMHO. Your mileage may vary due to differences in music tastes. My son and I tried some hard-hitting classic rock and some heavy metal and to say the least he was impressed. My next move will be to upgrade to speakers made to work with the factory head unit. -
Chevrolet Performance Intake & Exhaust Installed w/video
Tom Hoshock replied to Zane's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I did a marketplace search last week and scored a new in the box kit for a 6.2. The seller let me have it for $600.00 so I couldn't pass it up. I bought a 3-inch female ball socket and a 3-3.5-inch adapter all in stainless and modified the 6.2 cat back pipe to bolt up to my factory system. It fits and sounds just like I wanted. Nice rumble at idle and start up, comes alive under acceleration and it is very subtle when cruising. no drone and no complaints from the wife. Next is intake tube mod using a K&N kit. -
Kicker subwoofer and DSP amp install.
Tom Hoshock replied to Tom Hoshock's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Yotaman, I am going to try an Apple I phone my son has later today to see if it will connect. From everything I have read the app should work. It is mentioned in the GM ad's as a big selling point. -

factory subwoofer
Tom Hoshock replied to Stovespipe's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I just finished the installation of the factory sub amp package 2019417166 in my 2019 Sierra 1500 with the IOS radio. It sounds pretty good but definitely needs to be EQ'd I loaded the flex tune app on my phone and it will not connect. I contacted Kicker but at this time they don't know why it will not connect. Just wondering if anyone here has been able to make it work? The rep said to try it without the Bluetooth on the phone connected to the system. That does not seem right to me. I tried it both ways but no luck. Anybody care to try to help. I was wondering if the app needs to be loaded on the radio> -
I just finished installing the GM upgrade sub amp kit (19417166) in my 2019 Sierra SLE with the IOS audio system. It was a challenge due to my age. I do not do well crawling under a dash like I used to. I found a couple of YouTube videos that were a big help. The hardest thing was releasing the rear seat back latches. I must say it sounds surprisingly good to my old ears. I was not looking for loudness, simply good clean sound. The paperwork included a link to download the Kicker flex tune app. Has anyone on here used it? It looks like it would be a good way to balance it out and EQ the system for the best sound. Tomorrow, I hope to try it out. The flex Tune app includes a 5 band EQ.
