  1. 24 GMC here. I absolutely love my 10 speed gasser. I pull a 9k+ camper. It did excellent. Traded a 22 F250 with the 7.3 Godzilla for it. Didn't like the Ford at all. Had a 2500 Cummins Ram and nothing but problems including transmission failure. GMC Build quality seems way better than the Ford.
  2. Just took my 24 GMC on its 1st tow trip. Camper fully loaded weighs over 9k. It was maybe 85 outside so not super hot. I saw a maximum of 178 trans temp. This was in the Ozarks. I was very happy with the 10 speed. I was able to pull the steepest grade around 3k or less.
  3. Does anyone have a factory hood light on a 2020-2024 2500? Drives me crazy not having one. Maybe there are part numbers I could simply order???
  4. Just picked up my 2024 gmc and I love it! Seamless shifting, good trans temps (145), great new interior and it sits up higher than the Ford. I ordered it 2wd and it sits like a 4wd. Very happy I ditched the 7.3 Ford!
  5. Having just come back to gas from a 6.7 Cummins I will give my 2 cents. 1st off I loved the Cummins but all the emission issues and dash lights slowly drive me insane LOL. Anyways I traded it for a 2020 Chevy 2500 6.6 gasser. I love it. It tows my 9-10k camper nicely. I love the 6L90 6 speed. It's a fantastic transmission imo and does great towing. My rpm towing 65-70 is around 2300-2500. It only downshifting on a grade and then it's around 3k. I lock out 6th because that will just build up extra heat. I also have a 2022 F250 with the 7.3 Godzilla motor and the 10 speed. It was bought to be my retirement truck to go see the country in a few more years. However there are so many cases of lifter and cam issues with the 7.3 that I ordered a new 24 gmc. If you don't compare the gasser to diesel then you will be happy with the 6.6 gas in my opinion.
  6. Thankyou for your reply. I totally agree with you on your comparison. The main reason the GMC is heavier is because the Ford has the aluminum body. As far as ride goes, my F250 Lariet is 2WD so is does have the front independent suspension but I can say my Chevy 2020 2500 rides Way smoother!!! Also you are dead on about the Godzilla idle. Mine doesn't idle smooth at all imo. How did they mess that up??? I'm really not concerned that the GMC might be down 30-40 ft lbs of torque compared to the 7.3 Ford. I just don't want to be towing my camper and family hours away from home and have lifter delamination destroy my motor and leave me stranded. By the way its not just lifters failing. The cam lobes also can have a delamination issue. The F250 is a nice truck I just feel more comfortable going with the GMC. My 2020 Chevy pulls my camper great and it's the 6 speed so I'm guessing the GMC 10 speed will be even better!
  7. So as the title says we're in the process of trading our 22 F250 Lariet 7.3 gas for a GMC gasser. Wasn't planning on trading it or getting rid of it but after seeing all the lifter and cam delamination issues, I'm not taking the chance. The thing is, I wasn't on the internet or YouTube looking for issues with the 7.3 at all. Unfortunately if you do any search on the Godzilla it pretty much brings up some sort of article or video of the engine failing. Yes I'm aware of the 6.6 potential for using oil. However I'd much rather have to add a quart of oil to a truck than be 1000 miles away from home towing with a family of 5 and a dog then have my motor start knocking and have to figure out how I'm going to get us all home!!!! I know that anything can happen when towing etc but these Godzilla issues are far too numerous!!! To make matters worse the dealership stories related to the 7.3 failures are Horrific. I currently do have a Chevy 2020 6.6 gas and I couldn't be happier so I'm guessing I will love the 6.6 mated to a 10 speed. Thanks for letting me rant everyone! Luke
  8. Finally towed my 9k camper with my 2020 6.6 gasser. Not trying to hijack thread. I just got rid of my diesel because of all the issues they currently have. Anyways I was very pleased with the power and I liked the 6 speed. I bet the 10 speed is even better. My wife has a 22 F250 with the 7.3 Godzilla but we are scared to tow with it because of all the lifter failures. We are so concerned we're tempted to trade it on a new GMC 6.6 gas with the 10 speed.

  11. Hey fellas, they sell bybass kits that just keep the thermo open always. Wouldnt that and a deep aluminum pan be a great way to keep the temps on the low side? Thats what I did on my ram and the temps were alway low. Like 165 was the highest towing 9k.
  12. Hello, im new to the 6.6 gasser but ive had 5.3s with excellent results. They never used or leaked any oil. Its hard to understand why a more modern design would use oil. I have always used Mobile one for my G.M motors. Is this still good for the 6.6? I ditched my ram diesel with the Cummins to get away from all the diesel woes and yet here I am. LOL
  13. Yes makes sense. Its worth a try to simply use the uldated one. I just need a part number if anyone has it. Again I dont trust dealerships sad to say There are a bunch of kits that simply bypass it so its always open. Thats the same thing we use in the Rams. What are your concerns about that? Just curuous.

  17. Thats unloaded. I wonder if the thermostat is stuck It seems to run between 185-190. Seems high to me but thats what the 10 speed Ford is running also
  18. I use a product called Rustfighter by 3M. It comes with big vacuum line wands to get into the inner fenders. I remove tail lights, blow out the dirt, then apply it. Its basically a wax coating. I also dont drive the vehicles I care about in the winter until some heavy rain has washed the salt off the roads. That also allows me to purchase 2wd since I dont drive them in the snow. I just drive cheap fwd work cars instead.

  20. Thanks guys. Glad to be here. I can say this, out of the big 3 hd trucks the Chevy definetly rides the best. I think Ram might have the market on interior. My wifes Gozilla is smooth running and so far I really like the 10 speed. The Chevy and Ford both run too hot on the transmission temps imo. Gonna get rid of the thermostat on the transmission line asap. My ram was a nightmare. Way too many glitches and reliability issues. Gas for me for now on.
  21. Thankyou. The ttype part of my screen name is because I have a Buick Ttype. Also have a 89 Turbo Trans am and a SVO mustang. I bought these when you could get them dirt cheap. Ive also read about the lifter issues with the Godzilla. Pretty scary. Imo they probably outsourced them from China. Ive heard the 5.3 and 6.2 also have lifter issues but not the 6.6.
  22. Hello eveyone. New 2020 2500 HD 6.6. Gas owner here. I had a nice 2014 ram with the Cummins and a built transmission, delwtes and tuned. However I still got engine lights everytime I towed with it. With the high price of diesel I decided to go back to gas. I tow a 9k travel trailer. I also have a new 22 F250 with the GodIlla 7.3. Havent tried towing with it or the Chevy yet but I have a good feeling about both of them. Anyways, if yall have any 7.3 godzilla questions all do my best to answer them. My name is Luke.   23. On Dodges we call it a thermal bypass. Just get rid of the thermostat and enjoy cooler trans temps
