    Thanks man! Trying to get as many perspectives on this as I can here. Oil is full. Very clear. Less that 500 miles on it. Light only comes on as slowing to stop and stopping in gear. Once out of gear it’s fine.

    While I’m at it and you’re here, my 01 Silverado after driving for 30 minutes and when coming to a stop with my foot on the brake, the oil gauge gets low and bouncy. A warning light comes on to check gauges. However if I put it in N or P light goes out gauge to normal. Someone at work says it the pump. I’m thinking sending unit. Thoughts?

    That’s what I did and it works just fine. So much brighter than the factory light. I like the switch a lot because if it’s very bright out, who needs it. No reason to let it burn in broad daylight. Thanks again.

    Thanks! I am leaning towards a simple switch myself.

    Just as the title says. Switched out to a non GM LED unit under hood. Even though there is a mercury switch the new light will not go off when hood is down.
