  1. I bought into the single stack 9mm concept once the Shield came out, been carrying a S&W Shield in 9mm since, its the one when I picked it up I was like, yea this fits good King Tuck Galco IWB holster. I am contemplating one of the following for pocket carry - Keltec P3AT, Kahr CW380, Ruger LCP.
  2. My favorite carry knife was the black CRKT pictured, pocket clip snagged on a purse or something at the county fair this summer and yoink.. good luck finding it in a crowd with a band playing on a dirt track. -Replacement - SOG Flash II.
  3. Nice Rifles, especially like the DMR/SPR's. Post back and let us know how you like the 1-6 vortex. I've been looking at a cheaper version, IE Leupold Mark AR or Bushnell in there 1.25-4's for my 14.5inch gun, would be nice for a setup with less magnification.
  4. PSA rifles are very good basic AR's, a stripped lower and then there complete gun build kit would work to.. takes about 2 hours total for a first timer to assemble a AR-15. All you need is the upper reciever vice block to install the barrel, a pair of lock jaw pliers, some patients, lube for the barrel nut, and a armor's tool.
  5. I'll play a little. This one won Field and Streams 2/28/2014 Friday gun fight names Febu-AR-y Madness. Changes: -Leupold 3x9x40 AR optic in a Nikon M-223 mount -Troy Alpha Rail 9" -Ground off and blued- 3x sling swivels and bayonet lug This one I built at home with my nephew. - Delton Upper and Lower stripped - BCM 14.5 LW Mid length barrel and gas tube - BCM MPI/HP bolt/ carrier group - Gissele G2S trigger - Magpul ACS-L stock and grip/ trigger guard - Fortis Rev 12" keymod rail - Daniel Defense front/ rear sights - BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 charging handle - Fortis QD endplate - BCM Comp Mod 1 - MS4 sling QD (not shown) - Magpul Vert grip (not shown) Rifle as shown - 6lbs, 1 ounce. Fun as hell and dead accurate as far as I can see the target lol Wish list- build a SBR with a suppressor.
  6. So an update, I Finally finished my rifle I was building.. Heres my first one with my LBK Here is my second I just completed last week. Pic of nephew throwing some rounds down range. Rifle Specs: Del-Ton Upper/ Lower Recievers BCM 14.5" Mid-length light weight 1/7 twist barrel BCM Comp Mod 1 BCM low pro gas block/ tube BCM Mod 4 charging handle PSA Lower Build Kit Magpul ACS-L Stock / Magpul MOE grip/ Magpul Trigger guard Geissele G2S 2 stage trigger Daniel Defense Fixed Iron sights 6.27 pounds without a magazine 7.30 pounds with 30 round mag loaded with 55gr fmj's
  7. Nice aggressive look, lots of black with a lil chrome left, very sharp!
  8. That case Is amazing.
  9. I agree with Sputnik, for the most part. If you have a free float rail or are planning on a free float rail. I'd just use flip up's for the longer site radius, If you currently have a gas block with a rail, and non floated hand guards its upto you.
  10. See around where I live it would be the same way with 4.8's, 5.3 is by far the most popular. So issues I've seen with with vortecs and 5.3's in general, a little oil burn on the occasional AFM model- usually not enough to require adding between oil changes. And with Vortec's in general- Intake gaskets.. god damn intakes.. replaced mine at 107k, mines a gen3, but it's been flawless and a workhorse other then the intake gasket. There easy to make decent power with, and well.. its a SBC.. parts are in abundance for sure, and cheap.
  11. Got ya, I knew I sent my core out to the east coast not the west coast ;)
  12. Very nice Scar Jenna, When did you guys move to CA? I thought you were in WV or something
  13. Yea, not as far, I was really surprised how far it stuck out of the rifle, surprisingly though, no more then the forward assist on the other side, obviously different geometry so it doesnt catch but it was interesting.
  14. Your Welcome. They do have replacement latches for the regular one.. or maybe a mod 5.. if you dont like how far it sticks out theres always a grinding wheel and flat black paint. Personally, when I was enlisted I never had an issue with the standard charging handle with full gear and everything, I just chose this one for ease and personalization.
  15. Some side by side action above, forgot to quote you so it pops up in your email
  16. Here are some Pic's of a BCM Mod 3 and a standard charging handle.. and Sputnik that charging handle looks awesome.. but is even more aggressive then a bcm. I apologize for so many pics, but the aggressive ass one above is bound to catch more, it should be noted if its cold out i'm shooting in a Carhartt jacket. These should give a good comparison all the way around, top down, from behind and of the charging handle itself.
  17. Look up the RPO code listed on a plaque in the glove box, like G80 = their diff lock, i believe GT5 is 4.10, GT4 is 3.73 gearing. http://aplsweb.com/Topics/TopicPix/RPO.pdf to find.
  18. For your needs a 6.0 with 3.73 or 4.10's would be fine, I would try find the 4.10's as its to be used as a farm truck, how far away is the cattle barn from your farm? And yes the allison is an amazing trans, but it's also more expensive to work on than the 4l80e, and the 4l80e for OP's uses is plenty stout.
  19. Nice Build, any plans for the future? Tune or anything along those lines?
  20. No issues for me with snagging, Just my input. All rounded edges with only serrations for grip on the front side, and they don't start for a bit so they stay off from snagging Molle gear ect.
  21. I have the Mod 3, large charging handle. It is essential to me because of the scope, the regular charging handles last forever too.. But I needed the bigger latch for charging during hunting with gloves. Works amazing, Rainier arms also has a very nice dual latch charging handle but its a little more expensive. http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3172
  22. Threads kind of died.. figured Id post in it now that my rail is in..
  23. My RRA Elite Operator, Nikon 223 20+ moa base, and a Leupold AR Mildot 3-9, back grounds just a cheap package .243 savage i bought for my nephew for deer.
  24. This is what I mean by star chamber brush, I picked mine up at a local sporting good store for like 8$, usually used a dental pic with it and then clp and cotton swabs until it looked like HzHardy's chamber.
  25. Bought a RRA LAR-15 Elite Operator-2 today.. Pretty sweet rifle, time to get some add-ons and a scope.
