  1. Nice - thing works great, as I expected. I've just got the stock towing package cooler on mine. Last week I hauled 7k lbs. down the Cape (BMW x5, plus 2k for the trailer). Was 36° when I left, and about 45° down the Cape. Ran 80°-100° above ambient. It's pretty flat, relatively speaking, headed that way though. I've had tranny temps hit 120° over ambient on long, steep grades in the summer, with about 6k behind me. Where did you get that cooler from? I may have to look into one of those. EDIT to fix my math ...
  2. One hell of a tranny cooler you got there! Could run through Death Valley in August towing 10k with that, and I bet it would only be 30° above ambient. Same if it's an oil cooler I'd bet. Got that thing fixed up fast! I would've got around to it a year from now, lol - "the cobbler's children have no shoes", as they say. Of course, I'd have been stopped by the fellas 10-15 times to remind me ...
  3. Spent the day out in the barn. Mounted and balanced some Blizzaks for a neighbor, then spent the rest of the day fixing a few things, and getting ready for parts to arrive for my dad's '07 Arctic Cat 400. Resealed the leaky valve cover and inspection covers, cleaned a mouse nest out of the airbox, vacuumed 5 lbs. of corn and bird seed out of there and the ducts, and removed 2 dead adult mice, and 4 dead babies from the CVT system - also vacuumed at least a pound of ground up corn out of there as well. What a mess! Mice were chewing on edges of belt. My dad must've went for a ride, and scooped the whole family up into the belt and spinning sheaves. What a bloody mess, lol. Carnage. I hear peppermint oil is about the only thing that repels mice. Might have to buy some for my dad and try it at this point. Had my home-built waste oil burner blasting away out there today. Was in the 30's this morning, then started raining. Had it up to 68° in there today - I was sweating! Thing was cooking at just under 900°. Got rid of 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid today, and got extremely warm, for free, in the process. Not a whole lot of room out there these days. 2 full sized vehicles, some motorcycles, and several pieces of OPE, tire machine, balancer, some supplies, tools, etc., and now there's no room! Believe it or not, there are 4 motorcycles buried in that pile there in the first pic ...
  4. Was that vid in real time? If it was, it would be a riot flipping those lights on in this state - you'd have 10 troopers box you in on the side of the highway claiming "impersonation of a police officer". That would make a fun Youtube video. They come out with tape measures if you truck is anything but stock height ... and spot you 10 miles out if ONE plate light is out up here. They need the revenue for all their social engineering programs. But I digress ...
  5. Modules .... I'd like to beat GM engineers over the head with them.
  6. Sorry man - that sucks big time. At least from here it looks like you'll get out of it relatively cheap - just bumper and plastic, and probably all the brackets. Just a little different angle and it would've cost thousands.
  7. They'll cut off a 100k lb. oversize-load heavy truck - clueless idiots everywhere today. Just try and sell things on Craigslist - they all come out of the woodwork then ...
  8. That's a great idea. I used to wash the inside of the Corsa tips on mine every time I washed the truck. Had an old sponge used to wash the ATV down that I used for that. Would stain it jet black with carbon. I gave up cleaning them a few years ago. Would take steel wool to get that shine back now, if it's even possible. Toilet brush is a great idea! I might have kept up with them had I thought of that one.
  9. Yeah, the Chevy bowtie ain't what it used to be. I instantly hated that the second I saw it. Found some cheap vinyl decals on eBay back in '07 the day I brought it home, and ordered them up. Just shy of 10 years and still holding strong. I just hope I never have to replace them - lining them up and sticking them without bubbles was a MAJOR pain in the ass.
  10. I kept scraping mine on everything and breaking it constantly. I took it off and threw it in the trash. I think the truck looks better without it anyway. Gained some needed ground clearance, at least.
  11. My '07 hasn't cracked yet, although it's starting to get that wrinkled look to it on the side. Only 87,8xx on it, and it's a garage queen most of the time, so we'd hope it ain't cracked.
  12. Ran down the Cape this morning with this heifer. BMW X5 - thing weighs 5k! Sure doesn't look that heavy. Isn't really that big at all. Maybe the Germans stuffed the door panels with lead.
  13. I drove that whole stretch of I-80 Eastbound 15 years ago in a raging blizzard, in a '72 El Camino with tires that spent 10 years in the hot desert, towing an enclosed U-Haul trailer. White-knuckled all the way! Most stressful 12 hours of my life - that's how long that trip across WY took. Not 15 minutes after I had passed through, they closed the gates and shut the highway down! Most I ever got out of a set of tires in my life was on the OEM Bridgestone Dueller A/T's on my Silverado - 34,000.
  14. I think this is one of 4 registered in all of New England.
  15. Finally finished that '88 Trooper. 2 friggin months, thanks to parts store clerk incompetence and online vendors that just ship out whatever garbage is laying around, whether it's 6 months, or 2 decades old (Rockauto). Here's the mismatched rear shocks they shipped out. Same part number, different century of manufacture ... I used my special tool to ventilate the old shocks for safe disposal. It's a Marlin Express .338 . Not bad for not shooting it for over a year, offhand too. Was only 20 yards, but still. How about that exit wound? Left side: Right side:
  16. Been there, and to that Flying J you stopped at - it looks familiar. I almost hit 3 deer coming down into the valley on 80 westbound a few years back. Was 2am, and I was just starting to nod off a bit. Was wide awake after that encounter, LOL.
  17. Campers are nuts these days. Hardly "roughing it" anymore, lol! I just wheeled the Silverado uphill to my favorite spot on the planet to watch the sun set. My neighbor is building a house there next year. One in a million location - some millionaires don't even have views like this in MA. My shit cell camera doesn't even come close to doing it justice. It was BRIGHT red and purple up there - friggin awesome.
  18. Nice - thanks for the heads up. Might have to stockpile some of that, even though my local Advance store drives me absolutely nuts with incompetence.
  19. Use packing tape, or a pet hair remover on a roller - something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sticky-Master-Remover-Reusable-Washable/dp/B0083SC3EW .
  20. This year I did the same - got new ones on both my 3-season, and winter wheels. Nothing like new rubber. These Hankooks stick like glue! Don't even squeal when pushing the 6k lb. truck to it's limits. Won't be doing much off-roading with them, but for the majority of what I do, they work.
  21. Yeah, that'd be a nice set of winter wheels. I always hate throwing mine on - the 18's aren't nearly as nice as my 20's are.
  22. The wheels are MINT! Aren't many out there today I like, but I like those. You probably don't have to worry too much about ice and snow, but I agree with Daly on that, especially if they have some years and the rubber has hardened a bit. Skinny is good for snow, and heavy rain. Would be great 3 season tires though. Speaking of that, I just finally mounted my Blizzak DM-V2's I got last month on the OEM 18's. Was waiting for this to come in before I did: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015WWHZQ2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Should stop the constant bead leaks from aluminum corrosion.
  23. Use # 1,002 for chinese food container wire. Anti-rattle clip for my Volvo 940 rear brakes. Worked great, and saved me $18. Forgot to take the pic when I had the wheel off - this is looking at the inside of the left rear wheel:
