Has anyone heard of a electrical fire in the dash of their 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. Had my High Country one month with 1012 miles on it when the fire happened. The ac blower motor melted and burned all the wires in the dash. Nothing like leaving a restaurant and seeing your new truck full of smoke and flames on the windshield.

Ok, We are all familiar with the instrument cluster (servo) issues with the early 2000's trucks... I have the same story. gauges started to fail one at a time. For the last several years, all I had working was the fuel gauge. (I would measure speed by my GPS, and I have an OBDII module where I could read oil pressure, coolant, anything else...) Anyway, I drove my wife's vehicle to work for a night because she was loading some stuff to take elsewhere. When I got in my truck the next night, I noticed she had moved the steering wheel up. I moved it back down to my preferred position, and when I started the truck, ALL my gauges worked... I even had lights lit that had been out for years... But the REALLY odd thing, is my odometer now shows ~ 80k less miles than it did last week... I was under the belief that the mileage was in the "computer", not the dashboard... and my wife never even started the truck, only loaded some things in to it.... Anyone have any thoughts?

I’m trying to install a ram mount pistol holster and wanted to remove the dash under the steering wheel to make it a little easier to bolt this thing on and there is NOTHING on the internet about the newer models’ dash removal. It’s a bit different than the previous models, as far as the dash configuration. A little guidance would be much appreciated. I removed the fuse panel. There’s a 7 mm screw there, also a T5 hex screw connecting the upper and lower dash. I removed both of those. There’s another 7mm under the dash under the steering wheel. I popped the 2 bracket pins things and I still can’t get it budge. It seems Like the middle portion of the dash under the radio might need to be removed. I’m really not sure. Let me know. Thanks -
I have a 2006 GMC 2500. The problem I have now is dimming of the DIC and mirror display. I can be driving on a bright sunny day, and at any time the DIC will dim. The mirror temp and compass display will also dim and will be unreadable it is so faint. The two displays will dim at different times. I have auto-on lights and daytime running lights.Is this related to the cold solder issue I see in other topics? Thanks again!

I have a 2006 Chevy 1500hd I recently bought. Couple days after I brought it home I noticed the radio display and the display for the temperature for the A/C control are blank. It has auto climate so not the two sliders for temp control but two knobs and the temp and mode position are displayed. The radio and ac still works but the displays are dark. When you turn the key sometimes they will flash and then go dark. So i'm thinking it's in the steering column. Would a worn out tumbler cause this or does the ignition switch send the power to the dash once it's keyed up. Any help would be appreciated let me know if you've had a similar problem. Thanks.

2015 WT 3500 SRW CREW 4x4 Removing my overhead console to install a rocker switch panel and it’s driving me crazy trying to figure out what that little tiny dot in the middle is!!! If I look close it looks like some kind of a light sensor? I noticed nothing happening if I cover it with my finger but I have a WT model so I don’t have anything fancy! Over an hour of googling and looking at every parts diagram but the diagrams for overhead console don’t show a number next to that one! I’ve even put the part number in directly that’s on the plug and get nothing! Of course I ask because I’m going to cut that out and replace it with the panel and if has no use in this truck and it’s just there for the fancier version’s then I’m safe Also, on the dashboard in the middle right next to the windshield is that bubble which I always thought was for the security system and keyless lock unlock, but I just noticed it’s for automatic headlights and such? But yet the owners manual refers to it as a something to do with the security system? And last question, if the bubble is for day and night sensor where is the receiver for the remote control? I know the actual location of the receiver but is there not a separate window or something that’s exposed in a better location, cuz I can click this thing from 100 yards away and it locks and find it hard to believe the receiver that’s buried is actually that sensitive? In short everything I thought I knew about what those things were for, I no longer do and I’m really confused now lol -
So I pick up my new truck. Thought I did a good job looking it over before driving off, but guess not. As I am driving the car a week later, I notice that the dashboard is not fitted properly on the drivers side. There's a noticeable gap where there should not be. It's fine and flush on the rpassenger side. Gonna take it back to the dealer, but I hate the thought of some "technician" trying to adjust/fit it properly. The dealership did a piss poor job of installing the drop in bed liner so am scared that they will mess something up in attempting to fix ithe dash issue. Anyone know if this is an easy fix for the dealership? This is my first chevy and not happy that they can't properly fit a dashboard. Zero quality control for fit and finish. Man I am steamed. -
First of all, let me say that I absolutely love my stock sound system. My truck is a 2015 Silverado LS, and as good quality my stock stereo sounds, I hate its screen, it has big pixels, and it is just ugly looking. So, I decided that I wanted to have an iPad to cover for it, plus with the tablet, I can have all my music and stuff there, to free some memory from my iPhone, and a bigger screen to use for GPS navigation, both for Street/On-Road driving and Off-Road routing. The total cost for this mod was around $200 dollars for the iPad (Gen4 Wifi+Cellular) and less than $3 dollars for the velcro I used to mount it to my dashboard. I totally recommend this to anyone interested on doing this, and I'm very happy with the performance of the setup and with its looks. -You can pull the iPad off the dash and use it normally at home. -Cheaper solution than buying a Lowrance professional GPS plotter that goes for 1,000+ US$ -Bigger Screen is easier to read, rather than using your phone So, without further ado, here is the process and finished product, hope you guys enjoy the video:
