  1. I have a 2003 Yukon XL 2500. The radio started to cut in and out, and then soon gets to the point where there is no audio at all. No chimes and no radio. However the rear radio headphones still work. Thus I thought this was the bose amp and changed the amp. The new amp made no difference until I pulled both fuses and checked everything. I put the fuses back in and I had sound. Great. 2 hours later on the new amp the radio started to cut out again and then I had no sound. No chimes, no radio. I can restore the radio sound by pulling the radio fuse for 5 minutes, plugging it back in and all audio is restored. This does not last long and soon I will be back to no audio at all. It is not the amp as a brand new amp does the exact same thing. So how do I figure out what is wrong? I don't want to start replacing things as that did not go well with the amp. I have read that maybe there is a bad speaker, but since the speakers plug into the amp a bad speaker should only impact the amp. Also since the audio starts to cut in and out many times (longer each time) until there is no audio at all I can't imagine a bad speaker causing that. Once the speaker is detected it should cut the audio off until reset. Only pulling the radio fuse, waiting and then putting it back, will restore the audio. Is the radio bad? I pulled the codes and there seems to be nothing for the radio once the audio is lost. Thanks for any help!
  2. I am replacing the bench seat in my 86 K10 to a 40/20/40 seat set. The driver side seat is electric adjustment only, not heated. Is there more to wiring the seat up other than running a new power & ground wire from the fuse panel?
  3. So some of you are probably aware I had a little "incident" requiring me to replace both hood lift spring hinges and the hood hinge supports on both sides. I'm just wondering what order you would assemble it to prevent any further headaches or injury. So far I've marked with a sharpie where the hood hinge supports attach to my hood (three bolts each side) so it'll line up near where it belongs. I was planning on removing the one bolt and nut on each side of the hood near the windshield cowl that holds the hood to the truck. Then having a neighbor help me lift off the hood I will flip it over and install my new hood hinge supports (three bolts each side) I'm wondering should I wait until the hood hinge supports and hood itself are installed before installing the hood hinge that contains the spring (and lifts the hood) on each side? Or when the hood is off should I install the hood spring hinges? My theory would be it might be easier to install the hood without the hood spring assemblies installed yet so it could sit flat instead of in a lifted position. But I very well could be wrong The other option would be to install the hood spring assembly on each side while the hood is off (but would require my helper and I to lift the hood on in a raised position, then attach the hood hinges with the springs to the hood hinge supports in a "hood raised" position. I want to prevent a mistake or any major problem from doing this incorrectly. Also do you know if the hood hinges with the springs attach with the bolt side in or the nut side in? If anyone has access to information that says how this is supposed to be done and would share an image it would be greatly appreciated. If not, what order would you go about doing this? Hood hinge supports first (with the one bolt on each cowl side going in first, then lift hood to install spring assemblies, or install spring assemblies whole the hood is off or do I have this all wrong. Hopefully I made sense out of this because the parts come tomorrow. Thanks very much.
  4. Im swapping a 4.3 out of a silverado 2003 into a 1996 silverado trans is 4l60 e. Out of a 1998 jimmy they changed transmission to ls style for. 2003 4.3. Do they sell adapters for this. Or a special torque converter. Can I just use the ls to 4l60e adapter with new bell housing if I swap trans to 2003 it moves everything back 3/4 of an inch do I have to modify drive shaft trans mount
  5. I have a 2003 silverado with the 4.8l. Im needing a new motor figured a 5.3 would be easier to find and a better motor. But my question is what other year blocks can i use. Ive heard you can swap the 4.8 for the 5.3 with a tune. But could i fit an 04 - 06 block while keeping all accessories and fuel rails etc. I read in 04 it went to returnless fuel rails.

  7. Replacing Bose factory 6.5" subwoofer in the center consol with a JL audio 6w3v3. I have seen many people talk about doing this but have never actually seen anyone follow through. I also replaced my rear door speakers. Factory size is 4x6 and I put in 6x8. Made tempelate of speaker size and traced onto the truck door with sharpie. Then used tin snips to cut out the hole. It was super easy and there is nothing back there to get in the way. Then made a mounting ring out of MDF and a jig saw. Painted it black and put a foam sealer on it which pulled tight when I mounted the speaker. I did notice a better sound quality when I added the 6x8 over the 4x6. I swapped because I lost sound out of my back right speaker and thought why not throw a bigger speaker in there. I will be installing the JL 6w3v3 with the JL jx250 amp this week and I will post pictures and let anyone know how it turned out. Obviously it's not a 10 or 12 under the rear seat but I think it will add a much better sound overall. Not looking to wake the neighborhood. I have read many places it's is "sooo complicated" to get to the Bose sub in the center consol why bother with it. Not true at all. It took 25-30 min to get the entire console out and pull the sub.
  8. Does anyone have documentation or definitively know the specific location & function of each of the Blend Door Actuators in 2000-vintage Yukon/Sierra/Silverados?Thank you,Scott
  9. I was trying to install a new aftermarket radio and as I was figuring out which wires where which my constant orange wire touch my ground wire and ever since then my prnd321 and speedometer gas and temp isn't working anymore and some bulbs went out and now the power to the illumination in my fuse box went out even when I change the fuse (2003 s10 2.2 auto extended cab)
  10. Hello all! Was wondering if anyone has put a light bar in the air dam of a 03-07 Silverado 2500HD like mine? If so, what size and brand and how did you mount it? Thanks in advance!
  11. Hi guys and gals. Just recently got a 2003 Sierra 1500 4.8 4x4 z71 extended cab with 300,000km on the clock. Ive been noticing it hard on gas and idle isn’t really smooth, especially when it’s colder sometimes I can see the tac jump a little. When it’s cold sometimes the engine light will flash for a few minutes. But when it’s cold sometimes the fuel gauge goes to empty and sets the gas light on and then comes back to normal after a minute or two. Use to have issues with four way randomly coming on, but that stopped for now so far. So so far I have swapped two different fuel pumps (both came from tested and running parts trucks) , new ngk wires, new ac Delco plugs sometimes you can hear what I think is a sparking noise from the passenger side. I dont have a lot of money and trying to fix this without a garage. Any help be greatly appreciated. I hooked up my phone and torque app and have attached the error codes and some data the app gave me. I just dont don’t want to be throwing parts at it trying to guess what’s wrong. Thanks for your time!
  12. Hey guys. So I just bought an 03 1500 LS and I hate the look of the steering wheel. My buddy has an extra wheel from his 08 1500 (which I much prefer). Is there anyway of swapping the second gen wheel into my first gen? Thanks for your time.
  13. I picked up my daughters 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ 4.3L V6 yesterday, and it was running terrible, no power and it felt like it would stall out starting off from a stop. I put my OBD scanner on it and it came up with P0171 and P0174 (running lean on bank 1 and bank 2). I found the Schroeder valve behind the intake manifold and did a fuel pressure check. I came up with 28 psi, and it would hold there for quite some time, so no fuel pressure leaks it appears. I changed the fuel filter, and I still get 28 psi. When I rev the engine it drops maybe 2 psi for a split second but pretty much stays at 28 psi. The strange thing is that it starts just fine, which amazes me being that the truck should be around 55 psi+. It appears to me that the fuel pump is going bad, but I want to make sure before I order a new one. Any ideas on what else I should check? I looked for vacuum leaks, couldn't find any, and I also cleaned the MAF sensor, which didn't change anything. Let me know your thoughts, Thanks.
  14. so i have a 2003 sierra and the signal and defrost went out of the passenger mirror, so i bought a new glass and the signal didnt work, so i returned the mirror and got to looking into a whole new mirror. i looked at my build sheet and it says i have power folding mirrors, which i didnt know ! i bought the truck used. once i recognized this i tried to fold them in and it didnt work. the production code in the glove box says i have DL3 mirrors. so after all this i just want to know if i have power folding mirrors and maybe there broken? any thoughts or advice and maybe the best place to get new mirrors or mirror thanks
  15. Anyone know a cheap fix for a blend door acuator? 2003 yukon XL. front dash and floor vents blow cool air when heat is on. Front defrost does not work. Rear heat works fine. thanks Sean 2003 GMC Yukon XL 160k miles. (great truck BTW)
  16. From the album: 4silverado

Got these 2003 replacement tail lights and harnesses for Christmas. I think these look better than the stock 2004 ones, especially on a red truck.
  17. 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8L This is my first post on any kind of forum but I am desperate for answers because I am unable to find info anywhere else online. Today I had my instrument cluster fixed by a guy who says he has done several. The gear indicator, oil pressure gauge, and the backlighting were not working properly. When I went to pick up my truck today he explained to me that everything was working except the fuel gauge. The gauge has worked with no problem until today. He claims that the fuel gauge is not getting a good connection because it has a bad lead, which I've never heard of. The gauge starts to bounce a little when I turn the key on but stops after about 3 seconds or so, which tells me it's getting power. He replaced the stepper motor with a new one. Any ideas on what it could be? I put a full tank of gas in it after I discovered it wasn't working
  18. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/5/2015 Doug Blake is the Tire Man. He is the owner/operator of Medfield Tire and Battery in the Metro West area of Massachusetts. There has been a tire shop at the location he owns since there were tires. Doug can help anyone who needs tires or batteries, but we found him because he is a hands-on guy. He will use hand tools to change your tires if your car is special, and many local car-nuts come to him for the extra service he provides. Like the owner of the classic Mercury ahead of me at the shop. Don’t let us give you the impression his shop is old-school. Only the service is. He has the most modern mounting and balancing equipment available. Doug’s personal ride is 2003 Chevy Silverado rocking a 6-liter V8 powering all four wheels. There is nobody that knows more about truck tires than Doug. So what does he run on his special Silverado? He chose the Michelin LTX M/S2 all-season performance tires. The Silverado SS came with 20-inch rims ready to accept 275/55 rubber. Doug has found that the Michelins offer great all-season traction, sharp handling, and can they handle the abuse of New England's terrible pavement. Doug has 110K on the truck and still loves it, having had no problems with it since he brought it home 12 years ago. If you have a sporty truck, or any truck you’re proud of, tell us what you think of Doug’s choice and what you run on your special ride in the comments below.
  19. I have a 2003 Silverado 2500HD with 88,000 miles with a 6.0L, does anyone know of cheap upgrades to the motor. Not looking to pull the motor and rebuild it just trying to make a little more power or get better fuel economy. ( I currently get 10MPG) The truck is bone stock.
  20. I have a Silverado 6.0 and in the morning when it is cold the heat takes along time to warm up. If I turn it up and put the blower on high the motor takes along time to warm up to operating temperature. So I have to shut the heat off let the motor warm up and then turn the heat on. Any suggestions on what to do so I don't freeze to death driving to school and work?
  21. hi, i have been looking everywhere for the size of the interior bulbs (map, dome and foot well) for a 2003 gmc sonoma and cant find anything... if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. satan
  22. Hey guys! New to this forum because im looking for some advice here. Ive recently got a faulty code PO332 and something about an o2 sensor on a code reader. Now ive heard a knock sensor wont set off a check engine light but mine is on. Will a faulty o2 sensor give a knock sensor code?
  23. I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4. The problem I am having is that my truck is pulling to the right very hard. After my back tires spin, for any resson or I hit a pothole, the truck pulls to the right very hard. If I try to make a left its ver hard and my tires start to squeal. What ever is doing it, releases after a hard right turn (example: if I'm driving north and turn east.) is made and a single loud click is heard from the rear, then my steering is fine. I have changed the front differential, the transfer case and had an alignment and no change. Please help...
  24. I have a 2003 GMC yukon XL 1500 that I have had since new. it has 139750 miles and has been a great truck. Probably 4 years ago, the light that tells you whether your in P, R, N, D, 1,2,3 etc went out. Not really a big deal. Now it seems that all the gauges will go out intermittently. Everything from the Speedometer, Tach, fuel and temp gauges all went out. Next time I drove the truck, the gauges worked. This has happened on two different occasions recently. Any thoughts on what could be the issue? I noticed there was a recall out there for this problem a few years and 60,000 miles ago.
