John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 7-2-2019 The new Ford Ranger did pretty well on its newest safety tests by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS), but it did not have the scores to earn either level of the Top Safety Pick award. The Ranger fell short in three ways overall. First, it scored Acceptable for its passenger side small frontal overlap crash test. Like some other manufacturers, Ford does not reinforce the passenger side of its Ranger as robustly as it does the driver's side. That boots the Ranger off of the Top Safety Pick Plus designation. Next, the Ranger's best headlights are only Marginal. That boots it off of the Top Safety Pick list. Finally, the child safety anchors are scored Marginal, which does not factor into the IIHS scores, but makes parents swear quite a bit. You can see detailed score info at this link. IIHS has a good video with more details below.

I've always thought the rear headrests were awful short and stubby in my 2016 Sierra Denali Crew Cab. For adult passengers and my kids once they are tall enough, I wanted a better option. After digging around in here I noticed that in pics of double/extended cabs the rear headrests were different and looked taller than my crew cab headrests. There are a few options on ebay and I found rear headrests from a double cab that match my black leather interior. Thought I'd show comparison pics of the crew cab headrests vs the double/extended cab headrests. You get about an inch more of coverage, so nothing spectacular but it is more. Headrests in good shape ranged from $50-$200 in my ebay search, so it all depends on how much you want to pay for the additional head coverage. Next on the to do list will be to add notches down the steel leg mounts to have them stay higher than the factory notches. I did notice the double/extended cab headrests stay locked in position much better than the crew cab ones. Why? I have no idea, but the crew cab ones would fall down even when going over a slight bump in the road. In the last pic I just slid the crew cab headrest legs behind the middle seat to have something there. It stays in position pretty good, won't be able to extend up but it doesn't move at all while driving.

Unlike my 2020, my 2024 HD would not keep the reverse sensors active when I left any type of hitch in the receiver. I tried popping the inner bumper sensors out slightly and angling them up and out; that made absolutely no difference. What did work very well was draping some one-half inch open cell foam over the top of the trucks receiver and whatever hitch I had pinned in. It turns out for some reason the foam doesn't actually need to extend clear back and over the top of the ball itself. The second picture shows that foam folded back and that still worked just fine. The real test was my Air Shock hitch. Surprise surprise, another simple piece of foam draped over the top worked great; the system has worked flawlessly for over 2000 miles.

I’m looking for some new jack stands and I’d rather be over safe than cheap. What do you use? I came across these by US Jack but not seeing tons of reviews. Wondering what others are trusting. Thanks! https://www.usjack.com/products/garage-jack-stands

Hello, New here. I just got a used 2015 Yukon SLT and cannot get both the left and right seat haptic motors to come on at all. I did some checking and disconnected both the left and right motors and applied 12V to them and heard each of them go off just fine. However when i go into the intellilink menu, under vehicle settings, there is no option for me to change the alert type from beep to vibrate. Is this a software update of some kind? I can not find any information about this anywhere.

The Silverado and Sierra models did much better on the roof crush test. Both scored Good along with the Toyota Tundra and Ford F-150. Rollover crashes account for 44% of the deaths in pickups, so this test is important in this vehicle type. The Ram had the worst day of the bunch. It performed worst of the bunch on the IIHS small frontal overlap test and only Marginal on the roof test.
