  1. I have yet to experience any motor oil shortages, i actually just bought a 5 quart jug at Walmart full syn for under 20 bucks. I'm no keeper of prices and it is the budget Walmart brand, but under 20 bucks for 5 quarts seems as cheap as ever too me. I remember when i changed my own oil with Dino oil it was around the same price for 5 quarts like 3 bucks and that was for regular conventual oil like 20+ years ago. But the shelves were all stocked so no brands were missing and i think mobile 1 was around 28-30 for the 5 quart jug, not really that expensive imo at like 6 bucks per quart.
  2. I think anyone who sees 200k in any modern day truck today is doing good.
  3. Is this a bottom end issue, if so oil weight is not the reason or cause, i have been running 0-20 weight in my 6.2 since November of 2014 and I'm just about at 100,000 miles. Gm just released a statement yesterday stating they are bringing certain machining back in house for their next gen v-8's. I have been screaming from the rooftops on this issue since easily 2021! These lower end issues all stems from using slave wage labor in Mexico. If you were building a 60-80,000 dollar truck, would you have a guy who makes around 3-5 bucks an hour create the crank shaft for it and finish the surfaces on it? I bet 100 out of 100 people would say hell f'ing no and rightfully so! Gm tried to save penny's and in the end it is costing them millions, not to mention customers who will never look at a single GM product again after this experience!
  4. Just make sure you know who is doing the work, and if they have done it before, and have a trail of happy customers. I cant stress enough how many hack mechanics there are out there clai9kming they can rebuild an engine, make sure you do your due diligence making sure the guy knows what he is doing and has the references to prove it!
  5. Wow it is post like this that make me want to move into something newer with a warranty, i really don't know what i would do in this situation! I just got a quote for replacing 2 rear shocks for almost 700 dollars with 2 Bilstein shocks. So nearly 20k for an engine replacement doesn't sound so far fetched these days. I think many of us just forget like how our grocery food has doubled in price the last 6 years, so hasn't repairing a vehicle. It is getting to a point though were i would rather spend the 8k or so a year in monthly payments on something new then spending 20 grand on something old, facts are that 18k is not far from what a 2019 LT Silvy is worth, in working condition of course! The other issues is if you have the dealer do it, the same parts that failed because of the engine fuel management crap, will have the potential to happen again. Trade-in Value: $21,100 Private Party Sale: $24,000 – $26,000 Retail/Dealership Price: $27,000 – $29,200
  6. Already videos on Youtube of 2026 model Escalades blowing engines. This problem wont end until they bring the lower end part making back from Mexico and their slave labor paying businesses! I mean real F'ing shocker that people who make about 3-5 dollars and hour, turn out crankshafts that look exactly like a guy who is paid 3-5 dollars an hour made it!
  7. It's a rolling computer with wheels, welcome to modern day vehicles. Looks to me like the loaded up a different file then what was on it. Who knows if that contains the fix or if this is just a glitch, even my 14 has had at times random loss of screen and or sound. Most times restarting the car or truck will fix said issue though.
  8. Nope Mary and the bean counters say only your choice of Black, White, Silver, Dark Grey, Fire Engine Red and insert Blue or Brown option for the year here colors! Been the same for over a decade now, only color i liked Cajun/Radient Red Tincoat is of course now only available on the 70k and up top trim level trucks! One of the saddest ass paint selection choices by any manufacture on planet earth imo!
  9. It's a literal shame many of these colors just cant be ordered out right. So many are better then what is actually offered today, the paint color selection is piss poor at best these days with GM trucks. Unripened Green Metallic Dark Torador Red
  10. Yeah i didn't want any part of B&S motor which is what led me on a wild goose chase to find a working Honda. Every available mower today uses that god forsaken engine too! I was lucky to get a used HRX pretty cheap that has blade stop which is a very nice feature, but the new commercial one is going to be my strictly mulcher mower. Thinking about how i only use around 3 gallons of fuel for the entire season for cutting grass, why does anyone want to get battery powered mowers that would require constant recharging. Two 12mAh battery's needing to be charged 5-6 times per month is going to cost a hell of a lot more then 15 dollars worth of non ethanol fuel!
  11. I still much prefer my Stihl leaf blower to any battery operated one. Those things tear through battery's and the last thing i need during leaf season is working for 30-45 minutes then having to charge the battery up. Filling a tank with 2 stroke fuel and going for as long as i need is once again something electrics are not advanced enough to replace right now imo. Electric mowers though are just not even worth discussing right now, performance and battery time are just issues they have not figured out yet with mowers. That and making everything out of plastic, most of these mowers all have plastic transmission housings that just will never in a million years hold up.
  12. The New Honda battery mowers cost 1,300 dollars! It comes with the lesser charger that takes 5-6 hours to charge the battery and only 1 battery, a second one which pretty much everyone would need unless your yard is like 40 sq ft, it will cost you another 600 dollars making it now a 1,900 dollar mower. If you want the better charger to charger said battery in 2 hours, you will need another 150 bucks putting it over 2 grand now and more expensive then every single commercial 21" on the market. Watching Youtube clips of the battery mowers in action, in actual real conditions, they didn't do all that well. Battery's are good for most small engine items except leaf blowers, but they are far far away from making a viable mower imo. Heck every single dealer i had called or visited, refuse to carry the new electric Hondas.
  13. Idiots decided to stop making gas mowers and of course my 12 year old Honda took a dump on me this season. Searching for a new one i found that because of the crap state of California basically most manufactures have given up on gas power push mowers. Anything you will buy at a big box store today is trash, plastic transmissions and cheap flimsy cables, all made to fail within the first couple uses imo. That is proven by reviews, literally you have 0 choices today for a push mower unless you dip into commercial models. So i was lucky enough to find one of the few remaining dealers that still had a few Honda gas mowers left and at MSRP price and brand new. I decided to say screw it and bought an HRC model, build quality on this thing is just unseen with most product you buy today, its nice to see a piece of equipment not intentional designed to fail like most things today.
  14. Looks like a bit more going on here then unfamiliar noises..... His motor let go on him @ 57,000 miles and GM clearly thinks that is an acceptable outcome. How about actually doing something and work to help secure him at least partial coverage here?
  15. Did your dealer just tell you there is nothing they can do? Usually with that low of miles they might be able to secure a partial amount to help off set the cost or something, perhaps call the gm service line. I know it's a long shot but heck even getting a grand in gm accessory's gifting would help with the sting of this. I take it the 13k is a for a direct crate replacement engine? I wouldn't blame you because I'm sorry the independent shop route is a bumpy one imo. There are FAR more hack mechanics out there then good reliable ones imo, and finding a go fast shop that does good solid work is very very very hard to come by imo these days.
  16. Sorry had to fix it for you, lower end 6.2 issues are still happening because the parts is still being made at the same Mexican sweatshop. Why should anyone expect anything other then failure when you have people being paid 5 bucks an hour to make crankshafts for your premium engine. The oil weight has beyond nothing to do with this issue, it has to do with paying near slave labor wages to make important engine components. I think the Oil debate was just a stall tactic and a throw it against the wall change to see if the thicker oil helps prolong engine life to get out of warranty. I have watched tear downs of never run 6.2 engines and all the finish surfaces were trash but like i said you get what you pay for!
  17. No, they will continue committing armed robbery of all Truck and SUV buyers, to keep their trash electric vision alive! Because people buying them certainly is not gong to happen anytime soon, so the only way to keep it going is to continue adding onto Msrp's of the only thing they can sell right now!
  18. We had a post the other day regarding Toyota admitting they have clear issues regarding their newer engines in the Tundra. Here we have a clear example of the Mary Bara led GM were they have a clear known issue known with the trust plate and instead of issuing a recall to keep owners satisfied, the bean counters must of decided it is better to let as many fall out of warranty coverage as possible and only be forced to fix the ones who fall within the 3/36. Sad to continue to see them drop the ball on everything they do it seems, seriously how many here have any faith in the next gen v-8's, because i sure don't!
  19. Got to love that Texas weather, i live in Massachusetts and they all literally leave pieces on the roads when they hit a bump they are all so rusted out most times. I still don't understand the "they are on the top of list for car thieves" though. I mean there really are no factors imo that make them a valued item for car thieves unless i'm missing something.
  20. 01-06.5 are desirable?? I don't get that because they were not the prettiest truck and if you think these newer gen v-8's are noise lol, you had like a 80% chance you would get a motor that suffered from piston slap. I had a coworker who bought a brand new 2001 and literally a year and a half later you could here that thing start from a 1/4 mile away the piston slap was so bad. Right now the only gmt-800's i see on the road are beat up pretty bad, just by age and weather conditions.
  21. I mean he is doing what he should do to be honest.. He posted to a thread that is on point with his comment, instead of doing the wrong thing which would be not scanning for a like or common thread theme, and posting a new one to clutter up the forums.
  22. This, if you want to know who you can thank, the environment chodes are the reason for the weak water based brittle paints we get today. This is an every manufacture problem too, its why anyone with a nice car today, their first stop is usually to get the front PPF'd, and that @#@# isn't cheap either....
  23. I mean if you live in a area that see temps that low and you should know that an EV vehicle is a poor choice. Much like if i moved to say Amsterdam, do you think it would be wise for me to buy a TRX Ram to drive around over there? Streets not even big enough to fit it down there, and your weather severely degrades electrical vehicles range and overall function were you live. Also heat pumps do not work well at those temps, much like how my split unit can not be used to heat my house when the temp drops below 5 degrees, even hyper heat models only go to -5 but they wont work all that great down that low.
  24. These pigs are not made to wheel, way to big and weak for it imo, especially the 19 to current models.
  25. Why are you looking to upgrade the stock led lighting?? Those headlights are super bright imo and give a nice throw of light on the road, why waste money? As someone said above if you do not have fog lights currently i recommend the XB Morimoto's as they give a solid aimed beam on the road were you need it and not those idiocy Amazon specials that blind all oncoming traffic. Spend the $300 for a good set of driving fog lamps imo.
