    Don't own a Toyota so I'm not speaking on their behalf, but sometimes Red, White, and Blue runs deep regardless of quality. In some folks mind, anything less just won't do.

    You'll find problems in all of the brands and models, so I wouldn't say all SLTs ride well. But if you have an extended version, 6.2, Magnetic Ride, and 22s, any problems you have will probably be worse as compared to the standard version, 5.3, Premium Ride, 20 inch or less wheels.

    A minor redesign will naturally happen in 8 years, maybe 7. But that's about as much as GM can do based on retooling and inventory, I agree with that. For me, the current design being a problem is unlikely, since my truck's performance is getting better.

    This is too extensive coupled with getting a dealer to agree to removing the headliner, I don't see this happening. What makes you sure of your comment. As opposed to what you said, my truck has not been reinforced with anything and never buffeted or vibrated. For trucks exhibiting problems, I think the solution is more complex than just reinforcing the density of the metal.

    Harmholland - Yeah a new redesigned truck may fix the issue for a prospective buyer, but a new design won't help a current owner.

    When they change out your tires, ask them to look at the camber. With only 19K miles, sounds like your wheels may have too much negative.

    Go for it, you might get lucky. But a new truck can't be worse than what you already have? At the very least, a newer truck is better trade bait than your current one.

    My transmission does not drag like going from 1st to 4th. If I drive down the road with the windows up, radio off, and no talking in the truck, I could not tell when the truck goes from V4 to V8 and vice versa. The only way I could tell would be to look at the dash. Knowing my truck is in 4 or 8 doesn't matter to me 'cause the truck immediately transitions to 8 when there is a change of terrain or if I touch the gas pedal. I have not read if the AFM feature can be disabled.

    Once I am at a set speed and on flat terrain, 4 cylinder kicks-in with no vibration or no notice. This could be at 35 or 75. To answer your question, on my truck it happens at any speed and whenever it feels it can.

    Man, this is the best truck I have ever owned, it's everything and a bag of chips. I have not experienced any of these issues and I am probably the longest owner on this site with the same truck. I can go on for days, but I need to answer your question below... Are you crazy (nothing personal, just had to say that). Everything is great on my truck, but if GM offered an even trade with a newer truck, I would tell them they were smoking crack. I believe problem trucks are a small percentage, but it would suck if I was in that percentage. Go ahead and get a new truck, but Eastwood said it best, you feelin' lucky.

    Just like the GM customer service on this site, the issue is not being addressed by anyone with any horsepower. Issues don't rise to the senior executive level, or else junior executives will be out of a job. Junior, inexperienced executives don't yet have the big picture to work out issues or they don't have the 'nads to bring them up. A lot of times senior executives are out of the know, they just look at $ signs.

    I agree with this to a point, but it is there responsibility to fix the issue. If a dealer touches a customer's truck to rectify an issue, they are acknowledging a problem. They can't then come back and say the truck is operating as designed after they can't solve the issue? At that point the manufacturer has to acknowledge he built a lemon. So not the dealers fault, but still hold them accountable to fix it. I treat my dealer nice, but he's also the one that sold you that lemon.

    I do agree with 1, but 2, 3, and 4 couldn't be more different for me. Keep in mind I'm not having issues with my truck. #2, I have been driving 20's on my Tahoe for 16 years, I don't hit severe pot holes often, but my wheel and tire combo handled it when I did. The only issue I have with 20's is the ease of hydroplaning in wet conditions. #3, I never put more than 33 psi in my cars or trucks. #4, my truck suspension rides too bouncy or spongy, actually made a complaint to the dealer about 2 years ago. Still rides the same way today. I also still have a gen 2 Tahoe, the suspension is firmer than my new gen 4 Tahoe.

    One week before arrival, you still have enough time to peel back this thread and read about pressure, buffeting, and droning before your test drive. You will also find in this thread that some issues didn't begin until a few thousand miles later.

    Individual fixes handle certain things, something like what Norcal is doing. However, a fix for shaking and vibration will probably do nothing for the truck that buffets or has pressure. An individual fix of how and what Norcal is doing may ultimately be an overall fix for the shaking and vibration piece on platforms with larger wheels and/or longer wheelbases. Norcal, have some of your customers log on and talk about their experience. Speaking for the folks that are not having any of these issues, a redesign in 2022 for looks will naturally be in the cards, but a redesign to address these issues won't change what's going on. If GM could adjust the tune on AFM for droning, get a solid weld on the roof bows for buffeting, lower the truck and adjust the springs (maybe check wheel size) for shaking and vibration, and adjust the mics for pressure, they may just have this figured out.

    Pinion angle and vehicle height may have helped with vibration in some of your customers trucks, but this alone is not the issue. My truck has been totally stock since Feb 2014 and it never shook or vibrated.

    GM will mix and match some things, even change out parts and components that are not broken, all in an "attempt" at decreasing the shaking to pacify owners. But nothing will be fixed until the next gen, 18 or 19 is what I say too. Not buying a first year of a new gen used to be the rule, but I don't know if that doesn't extend to year two and three these days. C6Bill could probably talk you into a Toyota.

    Usually you won't know about a TSB until you take your truck in for some other maintenance, then the service tech will ask if you want it done. But folks with the booming may want to mention radio software update next time the truck is in for service. My truck does not boom, but the radio update info is good to know if it does, thx.

    Pull the trigger and quit letting these folks drive the train, you just have one of those trucks that can't be fixed. You'll take a financial hit, but quit wasting your time, get something that works.

    Not really, especially if software programming involved mics, speakers, and amps. This thread went down that road pages back, but booming talk was early in the process. I don't remember reading anything where an update to radio software helped with the booming. What happened when your radio froze up and what was the TSB?

    Seems that dealer would need rules of engagement other than a news article, unless he’s working on the truck based on what he believes versus a written GM “how to” check and trouble shoot. But then again, none of GM’s TSBs has permanently corrected the issue. So why not, the dealer is probably digging into it like I do sometimes; you can't break what's already broken, right.

    Your customers confirmed they still have a vibration, so I don't agree with your analogy of the stock ride height cause there are three prior generations that were just as high. I tell you what, I would never set-up my truck like that, but I sure give you kudos for looks. You did a good job with that Escalade.
