  1. With all the negative talk about GM your dealer agreed to, his business sounds pretty tight so stick with him. But you may want to go back to your post and delete his dealership name, GM might just give him a call.
  2. Yeah, same here, you're on point with this. I would think though as far as ride, if a manufacturer provided a 22 or more wheel for a truck, that size should have been tested for effectiveness and compensated to provide for a good ride? Don't seem to be the case with the GM truck line from PU to SUV, 22 inch wheels and larger may be aggravating some of the other issues going on with the truck line.
  3. I don’t know if the 20s are a fix for the noise and pressure, but if that’s what the salesperson thought, he should just change them back to the 20s and find out for sure. FWIW, I have the same tire with concave five spoke factory wheels and mine never had any noise or pressure.
  4. I also have a bug deflector, however my truck never buffeted without it. Don't know how this helped your buffeting, but I wouldn't discount it seeing there is no understanding as to the cause.
  5. Folks on this thread with problems is not looking for quality to improve, just quality would be a good start.
  6. You make my point about the small percentage of owners experiencing issues. An adult driving vehicles for a while would have experienced driving one without these issues not to know a shaking and vibrating truck. There is a large segment of owners under represented on threads because they are not having problems. Trucks experiencing issues associated with this thread do not provide an acceptable driving experience, especially at the 50K starting price point. After numerous visits to the shop to address repeat shaking and vibration issues, GM should offer owners another truck or refund a very large portion of their money. What good is a warranty without integrity.
  7. Tires, wheels, motor mounts, body mounts, rear end, roof bows, AFM, ANC, suspension, sheet metal, etc? I don’t know if anyone, to include GM, really knows what’s going on. Haven’t heard any permanent progress from 15 to 16, so that's a huge mountain to climb from 16 to 17. With the hundreds of thousands of trucks on the road not experiencing anything, GM should just give folks their money back ‘cause obviously those trucks have problems. With record Fullsize SUV sales, this is not going to impact GMs bottom line. There is probably less than .01% of these trucks that’s having the problems.
  8. For those looking at the stoppers or seals on the liftgate, I've always noticed my automatic gate closes with a “double action”, meaning the gate closes down to the weather stripping and momentarily stops, then moves another 2 inches and pressure seals with the stripping. The other day I popped the gate with the fob and it only released the seal and then stopped, never did that before. I had to press the button on the handle for it to move, the fob did not move the gate. Once the gate went up and back down with the handle button, it reset with the fob but no longer had the double action, the gate just slammed shut in one motion. I got in the truck and pressed the gate button located on the roof to see what would happen and it may have reset something 'cause the gate again closes double action with the fob. Didn’t drive it after it slammed shut so I don’t know if it made a difference with the seal in the cabin. Again, this is just an observation and may or may not be relevant to issues on this thread, but mine has been closing with double action for 2 yrs and for my truck it's normal operation.
  9. I don't know if the writer is going down the road again, but the report looks like a generic, paraphrased compilation of information on this thread.
  10. Your question is familiar, see the below link. The link references "ear pressure" from certain radio stations, different from issues on this thread. After drilling down a bit, my conclusion was it's the XM signal on specific channels that causes the pressure. It wasn't a known issue to dealers when I advised the service tech, so I filed a NHTSA complaint over a year ago. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/166600-2015-tahoe-enhanced-sound/
  11. I've read where 2 other folks have gotten a return notice from NHTSA, maybe a good thing. I made a complaint on another thread and also received a notice from NHTSA today. The press visibility with the GM fullsize SUVs may have caused NHTSA to assign someone to now follow-up. Hello I work for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at the Department of Transportation. It is my job to follow up with vehicle owners when they have motor vehicle issues that are submitted on the NHTSA (http://www.nhtsa.gov/) or safercar.gov websites . We would like your permission to share information regarding your complaint, including your vehicle identification number (VIN), with General Motors. Thank you for your assistance. 12. The only place on my truck that moves like this is the lower rear quarter panels, everything else seems to have support or slightly thicker sheet metal. I think the sheet metal and support is the same as your truck but keep in mind my truck was one of the first to roll out at the end of 2013 and GM may have provided more quality control or attention to detail on the first trucks. Lower gas prices and rising sales led GM to increase to 3 shifts and that may have hurt quality control.
  13. Someone on the thread made a video where he tested the bounce on the roof behind the passenger driver side door, I conducted this test and my roof did not bounce. The sheet metal was consistent throughout the entire roof, hood, front quarter panels, doors, and the tailgate. The only place on the truck that looked like the video was the rear lower quarter panels.
  14. Read and be as informed as possible, this is your payment. That friend may have spared you a headache, by him a beer then read some more.
  15. Not answering the rare piece, but it’s not that hard to believe a truck does not have any shaking or vibration. I have been driving mine since Feb 14 and my truck has never shook or vibrated. But I will disagree with GM, I do believe this is a safety issue.
  16. Disconnecting the mag shocks with certain set-ups may cancel out some of the stiffness in the chassis. As long as the ride is like butter and no problems show-up, I would go with it for a while. The goal is to get whatever type of comfort you can until or if GM comes up with something better. If you have 22’s, throw a smaller wheels into the mix if you can and see what additional that does for you. Also, ask your tech the question if disconnecting the Magnetic Ride shocks equivalent to riding with the PRS. The characteristic of the PRS to me is a bit bouncy, but the ride is soft and pretty dominating on smooth surfaces.
  17. Read in your posts you only had vibration and droning, no pressure or buffeting? Next time you speak to your tech, ask the question if disengaging the mag shocks equivalent to the ride of the PRS (Premium Ride Suspension). Why buy more shocks if you drove on a bad road and the ride was smooth, just leave them disconnected? What type of work did they do with the differential? Does anyone have pressure and buffeting with the bench second row and no 4x4?
  18. Uaedenali - You had the dealer fix the bows and differential. Did you pay for the new tires, shocks to replace your disconnected OEM shocks, and V8 to V4 tune? If so, I don't think any of what you did will void your warranty (may want to check on the tune) but you are hitting known problem spots, good for you. Why didn’t you get a smaller wheel to also test? Do you have second row captains and 4x4?
  19. I read it just fine, there was good intent, back off a bit. But, driving 100 mph with that weight is not smart.
  20. Don’t know how accurate this is in determining if the truck will buffet or not, but after driving my truck for about 2 years and over 15K miles with no issues, I went out and watched the roof while closing the door; no movement in the headliner.
  21. If your truck is one with separated roof bows, you should be careful of adding weight to a roof with just thin metal as a support?
  22. Definitely not a design flaw. Two years in to this generation GM is going through the process of finding out which part is defective or improperly installed.
  23. Man, I sharpened my talons and planned on tearing into Lock and Snuke in a private message, but then I thought better of it. They wouldn't understand 'cause, neither of them have a truck. Oh well, maybe next time.
  24. This may not work for all trucks, the work probably has to be done exact. But for an owner, it's not like elripsters dealer did the work and the truck started buffeting with pressure? Even if the buffeting and pressure returns, it's gone now. Maybe wait in the beginning pages of the thread, but 18 months later and someone said their truck did a 180, I don't see the logic in waiting just because the buffeting and pressure stopped with only one truck?
  25. Don’t need a response from anyone else, this is an advancement on this thread and pretty definitive results from elripster. He had buffeting, pressure and droning resulting in the dealer reconnecting all of the roof bows along with using dynamat to fill the space between the headliner and roof. If your truck has buffeting and pressure, your maintenance manager needs to call elripster’s maintenance manager and find out “exact” details what was done to his truck. If you are in the market now or in the future, you have to ensure the dealer shows you a completed TSB detailing the work exactly like elripsters or you should not buy that truck. What was done to elripsters truck prove what was done works, even if the completed work does not last.
