  1. I didn't think of the wheel weight, I should weigh them just to see what it is. They are factory rims which are already quite substantial but I know the tires are much bigger and heavier than the stock rubber bands it came with. What is involved in a top end cleaning? I don't know if it's really bad or not, I turned off AFM early on in my ownership and I understand it's the V4-V8 thing that contributes more to gunk buildup than anything else. I still think there's something else though. The delay in responsiveness is not just sluggishness, it's not sluggish, just not as impressive as I would like. The delay between pressing the pedal and the truck waking up is what bothers me most.
  2. 2014 Sierra SLT, CC, std. bed, 4x4 with the 6.2, 6-speed, 3.71 diff, and 34" tires The engine is supposed to have 420hp and 460ft/lbs of torque but I just don't feel it. I have the Diablew tune with TM turned off and I know the upsized tires will change the final gear ratio a bit but it just seems to me that I should feel much more of a kick in the pants when I hit the gas. There's at least a 1-2 second delay when flooring it and while the truck runs out strong it just doesn't have the responsiveness or the kick my old 2000 Silverado with the 5.3 had. Am I the only one? I have to say I'm probably the only one who's underwhelmed with the diablo and diablew tunes, I knew I wasn't going to get a 100hp boost but I expected more. Been running the tunes since probably 2015 so I'm late to the complaint dept. I know, but as the warranty winds down I'm wondering if there are any other mods I can do that will give me a significantly better driving experience. I'm not expecting to beat mustangs or chirp in second gear but I would like more responsiveness. I'm looking for reasonable mods, not $10,000 supercharger addons or anything. Am I expecting too much?
  3. I get what you're saying. Problem is I'm not confident that the steel would last long enough. I figure I need something at least a 1/4" thick and then coat it with truck bed liner or something to protect against rust and the corrosion that would be caused by steel against aluminum. I was told there are adapters out there that would do what I need but I haven't found one yet.
  4. Related question. I have 285/65/20s on my truck and have just replaced them after 50k. (BFG AT KO2s). I told the tire tech to take the best old tire and mount it on an aftermarket 20" wheel I bought for the purpose and sling it under the truck. The tire will fit but the problem is the hole for the hubcap is too big for the keeper on the winch. The cross piece on the end of the cable is too small for the hole. Anyone aware of any adapters that can accommodate that problem?
  5. First of all, how do you search the forums? I can't see an option to do so. Now, on to my topic of concern. My truck (2014 GMC Sierra SLT) was built in February of 2014, purchased by an owner who had it for a couple months and decided he wanted a diesel truck instead. Basically he took his truck and reordered the same truck but a 3/4 ton with diesel and traded this one in. I purchased it in July of 2014 with only 5,000 miles on it. Got a pretty good deal too. I love everything about this truck but the payment... And the frame now... When I checked out the truck before purchasing I even got underneath and checked out the undercarriage. Still looked clean and new. When I was signing the papers they offered me an appearance warranty which would cover paint issues, damage to the interior, rust, etc. They offered me a good deal on that so I bit on that as well. Part of that package included an undercoating and protective spray coating of the frame and suspension components. Said it would significantly delay the onset of your typical surface rust on the frame. Check out these pics: (this should be the maximum amount of rust visible after only three years and that on an untreated frame... Am I wrong to expect less rust, especially after a protectant has been sprayed over the metal? How good can 'high-strength steel' be if it rusts this much after only three years? This vehicle has never been submerged in water much less salt water, and during my ownership hasn't even been driven that much on salty streets in the winter. I working with the company that warranties the treatment and with the dealer but I'm fearful that their 'fix' will be just just scrape off the loose protectant and rust scale and just reapply the coating over the leftover rust. Anyone else having this issue or is it just my truck?
  6. Sorry loghead, that was snatched up shortly after I made it available. R
  7. I must be missing something. I got under my dash and looked at the pedal assembly. There does appear to be some looseness side to side in the assembly and a lot of flex when you PULL on the gas pedal, but when pressing the gas pedal, there's very little flex in mine. I have not put a shim in to see if there's any real world difference but frankly, I just don't see how it would help, at least in my case. I see two bolts, one lower and to the right, one higher and more left. I assume from the pictures that the shim is going under the bracket near the lower bolt, correct?
  8. This was a second set so I just spliced the wires into the existing leads, one on each side of the truck.
  9. Well, I added the second set yesterday. Noticed a couple of items. I ended up having to mount them slightly lower than the factory lights due to drill bit access to the bed wall. The rail prevented me from drilling as high as I wanted to. I used the provided inserts rather than just throwing a couple of sheet metal screws in there. That was most of the work. They work fine and add the light right where I want it. I have the harness plug end available if anyone needs it.
  10. How is that part number different from GM part# 23145347?
  11. Those rims plasti-dipped or painted? I have those same wheels and was thinking of plasti-dipping them just like that as they're just too much chrome for me.
