  1. typical, its everybody elses fault the radio doesn't work but they wont admit the truth that GM has crappy radios lol
  2. very smart thing to do, wait a few more years to be sure there are at least 2-3 years of unchanged production without any issues to be sure you aren't buying into problems. im sure they will get past all of this but right now they have no idea (or at least act that way) as to what is causing the widespread multiple causes of these vibration issues. add to that the many other things, seemingly fool proof things such as radio reception issues and such that its like trying to hit the lottery to get a trouble free GMC or Chevy truck. if you have to have a new truck now buy some other brand and come back in a few years when all this is sorted out to take another look at GM trucks.
  3. videos people, start posting youtube videos showing your vibration issues. there are only a few videos showing truck vibrations on youtube now yet there are hundreds of people just at this one website with this issue so please get your cameras and go made videos showing how bad your truck vibrates and then post your videos and call some public attention to this issue so the general public starts taking notice and talking about these crappy trucks GM wont fix or stand behind. without public pressure GM can continue to tell us all to go to hell and that's what they are doing to us
  4. in your case with that much out of round my bet would be the u-joint was assembled 180* out so take the u-joint lose and then flip the yoke 180* and then reassemble. I would bet your shaft will be much closer to being true if not actually true with just that one change.
  5. well there is no denying the dealer tires are all crap and much lower quality then the retail versions of the same brand tires you buy at the store but the vibration issues are not the tires and depending on where you are in the country about half the trucks use goodyears and the other half use the bridgestones and both have equal representations of truck vibration issues. that said, they ask for bids for the cheapest crappy tires at the lowest prices to put on the trucks they sell today, so manufacturers just don't care anymore, its all about saving a dime at the customers expense.
  6. it slipped off the first page what with the long long list of many issues these trucks have going on with them but here is the thread for the people discussing having frame rust issues http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/163244-frame-rust-build-date-1213/
  7. I have to agree that's excessive, that's more then just surface rust you would expect, that's pitting and deep rusting from within there. I can see this causing issues around year 5 or 6 even if it continues like that. most likely a batch of inferior metal was used when casting it
  8. haven't you been reading this thread? file with BBB go through the process then if still unresolved get a lemon law attourney and file in civil court if you don't do these things you will never be offered a buyback, GM just stalls you until you have too many miles on the truck to file lemon law
  9. its getting where those with unfixable vibrations are going to be the lucky ones because they can at least get out of these turds at some point, even if does feel like it takes forever
  10. the common denominator in all of this is everything on these trucks has issues due to lowest bidder parts that don't work well together along with very poor or non existant quality control or oversight of the assembly process, I mean some people are even find the beds are mounted on crooked on their trucks! that's what you get when the government decides who is going to run a car manufacturing company and lets the unions make all the decisions on how and where to build them its government run motors at its best
  11. right before your arbitration hearing they will call you and offer a full purchase value trade-in credit towards another truck and you pay any additional cost if its a higher price. at that time you can make a deal for them to transfer all your upgrades to the new truck and I would "assume" they will absorb the labor cost but then maybe not and you will have to pay the labor but that's still a decent deal. short of that its up to you to remove everything yourself and then sell it or buy another truck you can use them on. you are not going to get a penny more from GM then the cost of the truck the way you bought it in stock condition, consider the rest lost money unless you can remove it without leaving any damage to the truck from removing it because scratches and holes and anything else will all be depreciated at full retail body shop repair prices.
  12. I just want to apologize to everyone dealing with this issue because I was lazy and forgot to file a NHTSA complaint for my truck. I filed it this morning people need to understand that doing things like this is needed to help ourselves as well as everyone else dealing with this as long as we do nothing and stay silent then GM wins and we get screwed over. everyone should do this checklist: 1 file with BBB lemon law (to get it on record) 2 get yourself a good lemon law lawyer because GM will not treat you fairly, and check that he is a good lawyer and not an ambulance chaser who doesn"t belong to a law firm, if he is a small time lawyer he might be a nice guy but GM can manipulate him 3 file a complaint with NHTSA 4 create a video showing your vibration and upload it to youtube. keep it professional and no cursing and be direct and to the point, let the truck do most of the talking. any digital camera will take a decent video and uploading to youtube is free and easy 5 do nothing to try to fix the truck yourself or it will be used against you in court and claimed you caused the problems yourself 6 document everything and keep a written log of all events and conversations about the truck and keep all original documents yourself, only give copies of the documents out because GM will say they cant find them or give you reproduced and altered documents if you lose yours
  13. im just guessing but I think he was just showing the drivetrain so everyone speculating about things can look and see if "they" see something. I think its more of a "this is what it looks like" rather then trying to show a problem they think they found, if that's not it then im with you guys because I cant see anything strange no matter how many times I viewed it. would have ben nice if he got on an interstate somewhere and went in a straight line in stead of stop and go turns and such. maybe he was trying to show the low speed vibration?
  14. i hope he is right or you will have lost any chance to go back to GM for anything even with documented proof the parts you removed had issues they will just say it was within tollerances they deam to be satisfactory
  15. its obvious we need to skip the whole GM process and go straight to a lawyer to lemon law it. AND MAKE VIDEOS AND POST THEM TO YOUTUBE AND FACEBOOK only if you call attention to this and people get the word out, then and only then, GM might care enough to treat people better. the BBB and GM process is just designed to stall for time hoping you give up or just get used to it and they win. the GM mediator told me her findings were it was flat spot tires which are not a warranty issue so if I wanted to pursue it any further she couldn't help me. she said this while holding service tickets in her hand that their mechanics said this issue was not related to the tires being flat spotted. im now waiting on the final mediation process where a GM rep to come ride in the truck to witness the complaint and of course he will deny it vibrates and I will have to get a lawyer and take them to court. they know most people are weak minded and will just give up before going that far with this so they win even if they lose in court because they only have to buy back one out of ten lemons when people give up.
  16. ok I finally got around to uploading my vibration videos. I did a second one because in the first one, traffic wouldn't allow me to show how the vibration never hanged as I switched lanes please, everyone with these vibrations needs to do similar videos and file with NTSHA and BBB as well as find a good lemon law lawyer in your state because in 9 out of 10 cases you WILL have to take it all the way and having your own video proof goes a long way to dispute GM claims of it being a "minor" vibration they don't notice. GM is playing hard ball and refusing to do the right thing by customers unless they are forced to.
  17. yes but then it restarts the 40 day clock all over again to reopen it so your backed up another 40 days on top of how long it takes to figure out what your going to do. it sounds like a stall tactic, so tell them make the deal first and it only takes 5 minutes to close your claim and sign on the dotted line. if they give you any lip on it then they aren't trying to help you but just stalling for GM. there is nothing stopping them from making a deal with you, the only thing you cant do without closing your case is to sign the truck over to them and my comment about destroying the value is not about them or the truck or who has to sell it later but im trying to impress upon you that a safety issue or something to cause greatly reduced resale value is one of the core defects that are protected by lemon law so greatly reduced resale value is just as major an issue as a safety issue that can kill you unlike a "normal characteristic" of the vehicle as they are hopping to somehow claim so there is no BS they can use to hide from that clause of the lemon law. just be sure to bring it up at the hearing because if you don't bring it up then it wont be part of your claim
  18. why in gods name would you close your BBB case, let it go the required 40 days and have the hearing and get your full refund buyback. it destroys the resale value of your truck which is an automatic 100% victory for you regardless of what BS level of vibration they want to call normal. the dealer isn't involved in the BBB case because its between you and GM and that's why the dealer cant make a deal to take the truck from you as long as you have an open BBB case because GM needs to take ownership of the lemon but you are giving up on a full refund to take a big loss
  19. stop being a dancing monkey for them and file lemon law they just string you along until you give up and live with a defective truck or trade it in at a loss so they will continue this dance until you file
  20. well I just purchased a used Tacoma to drive. I just cant drive my vibrator anymore, I get car sick every time I go more then a few miles in it so I can no longer drive it without being sick for hours after. it is pathetic the lying BS they are using for excuses for not fixing these trucks, they are all just a POS unless you are lucky enough to get one without problems
  21. this is why they get away with not fixing these trucks, because people give up and agree to live with defective trucks all you have to do is file lemon law, if GM arbitration doesn't agree to buy it back, get a lawyer and file lemon law claim in civil court what people don't realize is this may not be a safety issue where it automatic becomes a lemon but they will try to wiggle out of it by saying its "normal" but lemon law also applies to anything that substantially reduces the resale value of the vehicle and this is where they cannot wiggle out of it by saying its "normal" because not all trucks do it and they cannot deny it GREATLY reduces the resale value.
  22. well with an 08 you are in that sweat spot where the trade in value is still high so IMHO its best to trade it in on a new truck, most dealers don't take it for a test drive if it runs good so they may not notice the issue and even if they do say you know it has a bad tire because they don't care to do any work and most likely will just take your word for it. I say trade it in because its going to start losing value fast from here on and you know it has issues so trade it in is your best solution to your problems.
  23. the squeak in v4 is the little restrictor valve on the exhaust pipe, its not made right and needs replacing, its the shaft squeaking when it operates so some tie it open with hose clamp. there is a thread about it somewhere and yes I agree we need to start making noise with youtube videos and filing with NTSA because this thing greatly affects resale values which is something they cant avoid by calling it a "normal" condition
  24. yep, they might have to spend millions buying back 5% of all the trucks they sell but doing full recall and fixing "everything" that's wrong with all of them would cost billions plus they can keep things out of the public news buying them back but a major recall is going to be front page news
  25. they only give prices on new vehicles so you get the best deal. if you select find used cars, they just send you to a list of cars for sale but there is no option to get correct values for those
