Overlanding and Camping Mod Thread
dudleyfj40 replied to Robert Peters's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I added a canvas to keep the snow off the tonneau cover. I think I might keep it on for good. I added plywood on top for a shooting platform. Then some ditch lights and train horns to make it mine. -

No, I plan to run it and my Dorm fridge both on it. I have to prove it out yet. We had shore power at our event this weekend so I didn't try it out with both. The factory outlet will charge the batteries while driving. Until I get some solar panels -

I found a "water proof" outlet to for the AC unit. Made a small panel that I can turn on lights from the back or front with my up-fitter switches. Then fabbed up a mount for the AC unit. -

I ordered two boxes to see how they fit. I will have to do some cutting, but, The last truck I cut up they paid me more for it than I paid new. LOL -

Has anyone added storage in the tailgate? I have seen it on different vehicles, so I am thinking of doing it to mine. There is actually lots of room on the bottom with a divider from the opening components above. -

I contacted them. They have since discontinued for the reasons you have described. Shucks! -

What roof rack is that? I like the low profile! I can't believe I just noticed that. -

It's an power cord for my LED bar and then later an AC unit for the window of my RTT. That extruded aluminum is nice to work with and very sturdy when mounted correctly. I added tape to the led as a type of diffuser. -

I have three optimas in the rear with an inverter. I bought a hog crate to put in the kennel for our new pup. When I removed it from the kennel, I noticed the slots looked really close to the Molle's. So I cut it up and installed it around the drivers side wheel hump. Works pretty good and saved me about 500 bucks. LOL I'm looking for a video or something on how to mount a rack to the roof ditches under that plastic strip for some solar panels. If anyone has done this or saw how to, please share. -

Hey Guys! I was excited to see this thread. I had a camper I pulled behind my offroad rig and decided to downsize a bit. This is what I have so far. I pull the tent off so I can mount my Kayaks on top. In the future they will be mounted inside the rack with the tent on top while being able to see out the middle back window. -
I would think so., you would need to touch up with paint of course. Where they meet at the front and back doors are cut straight up and down, the other ends are angled. I would think that would be the place to take off a couple of inches in needed.
-
I got them on, but not before hopefully my last door ding in that area. They are not noticeable at all. Love em.

The tent is a Camping labs, I have had it for awhile. It was mounted on my off-road camper and I am trying to downsize. I fabbed up a rail to put between the rack and the truck to give me extra height so I can roll open my tonneau cover. Plus, I wanted to use the stake pockets. They make standoffs, but I didn't want to drill holes into the truck bed. I used existing holes in the pockets.
-
That is what I have and love it. I went with the taller one so I could walk underneath. I have a "changing room" attachment that attaches to the bottom of the tent.

I agree, that ridge is just sitting there ready to get hit. Adding protection to that area will help tons. This is at my work just this morning. Not my Truck, but I'm looking for the owner so I can show him this picture. Not too many ways to defensive parking here with 3 shifts.

Haha, she just approved it. It looks like the exact same stuff. Seeing a Black truck like mine helps a bunch. Thx @Julio13

Good to hear, it took me awhile to find them. I thought the price was very reasonable also. Just set the link to money miser (WIFE) LOL.

First off, I am a debadging type of guy. With that said, has anyone used some type of side protection to prevent door dings. I've kind of promised the wife I would use my new truck as my work vehicle to insure the purchase. So far I have gotten two door dings from what I can guess in the work parking lot. I found these, curious if anyone has used these and if they are close to invisible as they seem? https://www.sportwing.com/FE-SIL19-CC-Chevrolet-Silverado-1500-Crew-Cab-Painted-Body-Side-Molding Thanks, Brent

I have black sumo springs on mine. It really didn't seem like it was sagging from behind the drivers wheel. Sorry I have no weight info for ya, but, it is a heavy trailer by itself and it pulled great!

Dead battery...2020 L5P
dudleyfj40 replied to Revspan's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Hey guys, Just got my 1500 6.2 with 700 miles on it back from the shop for the same dead battery issue. From what the dealership told me, that brake modulator stayed on when It was shut off. I guess there is a Bulletin on this issue. They claimed to reprogram the modulator and all should be fine now.
