  1. Interesting idea. This is one way to compare vehicles and has some merit. It doesn't work as a formula to define what makes a vehicle a slug but I don't doubt that a lighter regular cab will have more pep than a 4X4 crew. For fun I checked out this formula with a HD 4X4 crew Dmax and the weight is 19.1 lbs per horsepower! 2
  2. I agree that cab high canopies look the best. Some mid-rise versions like the Century High-C look pretty good, imo.
  3. Your post is still alive and well! What is your impression of the 4.3 after after three months of ownership?
  4. You may also want to consider a mid-rise version of the brand you choose. Many manufacturers offer a topper that is 3-4 inches higher than their cab-high models. I would have chosen a mid-rise if I planned to sleep in the back of my truck.
  5. It reads more like having fun to me than trash talk. I strive for the Grandpa look which usually earns me a few jabs on this forum! You are proud of your truck and undoubtedly receive compliments from your peer group!
  6. Yes the 4.3 has AFM. I can often predict when I may expect to see V4 light up but I can honestly say there is no feel or sound that indicates the change. My 09 Sierra had the 5.3 with AFM and it wasn't noticeable but I also didn't pay attention to it until reading concerns about AFM on this forum!
  7. I read what others have said but I am curious as to why you don't like your truck in V4 mode? You should only notice the change by the indicator in your DIC. Your truck has an abundant amount of power and it makes sense to reduce use when the need isn't there. I believe there is some stigma associated with running in V4 when we paid for a V8. I still feel the same way about driving a truck with an automatic transmission! If you're noticing any lack of responsiveness or power as a result of the technological advancement of AFM then your vehicle needs service, imo.
  8. That is hilarious! It is fun going back to read the other comments relating to the op's concern. Diagnosis over the internet can certainly lead you in the wrong direction! The solution to his issue may not be as simple as yours but your outcome demonstrates the need for him to take his vehicle in for service.
  9. This is a popular topic! I am also interested in pictures, particularly the Leer 180. the Century High C or the Jason Trek!
  10. I like this, subtle yet to the point!
  11. In January they offered three new plate choices. http://www.icbc.com/vehicle-registration/licence-plates/Pages/bc-parks-plates.aspx
  12. You certainly can see that this hood scoop is not just decoration!
  13. Thank you for sharing this information. Is it basically installing a hood from a 2500 on to a 1500? If so, is the fit the same or is there some modification required?
  14. Nice truck and welcome to this forum!
  15. Those are nice emblems. My first choice would be placing them on the outside of your vehicle and my second would be as in your first picture.
  16. I would also like to hear more about the hood swap. I like the HD hoods!
  17. Go with your dealer's service adviser or the assigned technician for a ride and let him/her hear the chattering. Your truck is brand new and needs to run flawlessly!
  18. No, but I sure like my truck and I get treated well by my local dealerships!! I had some major issues with my previous truck ('09 Sierra) and I found GM customer support reasonable when repairs were beyond the scope of the dealership. Prior to this I had a '00 Silverado for nine problem free years.
  19. Definitely no offence taken. If you could feel it on my truck and it demonstrates the same "surge" feel that you hate, I would be questioning you and not the truck! (lol) I don't doubt that your truck or others may have a faulty component. My point is for you to get it fixed if it is broken. Shortly after buying my truck, my front left signal light quit working. I didn't blame GM or hate my truck, I got it fixed. If you Google "left signal light not working" you get over 3 million hits. It is easy to find others that share a complaint. I doubt that you'd have a concern for this feature if it was working as intended!
  20. Do I understand this to mean that you didn't get the problem fixed or have I misunderstood? I believe that this feature is designed to work seamlessly. I did a 125km return trip on the highway today and tried to determine when my truck was switching in and out of V4 mode. I could not do it without looking at the DIC. I would be sure to mention this issue to your service adviser while your vehicle is still under warranty. No need to put up with faulty components when under warranty!
  21. Did you take your truck in under warranty for service when it was having these problems? The transition from V4 - V8 is designed to be seamless. This was the case with my previous V8 and is with my current V6. If you did take it for service I am curious as to what the service adviser said about this issue.
  22. "The Kermode bear (Ursus americanus kermodei), also known as the "spirit bear" (particularly in British Columbia), is a rare subspecies of the American black ..." Revenue from the purchase of these plates also goes to our parks and wildlife! I am 100% with you on supporting the outdoors!
  23. I felt the same way until these were offered to me as a bday gift this year! They were a lot less expensive than other modifications! Op, your truck looks great! The legacy plates will make your truck look outstanding! You will be surprised how many more people will take notice of your truck!
  24. Very nice plate! I recently purchased BC parks plates! I like unique licence plates and I don't think it matters if the colors conflict with a vehicles' color scheme!
