This discussion triggers my recall of an incident that happened to me last week. My neighbor just took delivery of a few items from his father's estate. One item was a totally stock 1966 Chevrolet Caprice wagon. I had a similar vehicle during my University days so I was able to show him a few "features". I laughed when he asked me where the button was to lock the doors!

Sorry for you and your truck! It will repair as good as new! I also feel bad for the valet. Wrecking a customer's vehicle can put significant stress on one's employment status!

I like a sliding rear window but it is very low on my priority list when looking for a truck! It does help get the hot air out quickly when starting out on a summer day! The window place that traded you probably knows how to wire these as an aftermarket item.

Knock on wood... close to two years ...no dings! I am very selective on how and where I park. I don't believe these trucks will ding easier than any other comparably sized vehicle!

Is it a business or a private building? It appears to be either a vehicle restoration shop or an extremely large private workshop! Regardless, it certainly is a huge, clean open space!

Changing the engine coolant is something the majority of owners don't experience so the need for a drain is not necessary. Unless you have had a leak or work done which requires coolant change, the owners manual has this as a 150k (miles) or 5yr. service. I appreciate that there may be other reasons to change the coolant more often and would be interested in hearing them. This is one of those maintenance tasks that I would be glad to do myself if I knew it helped!

I believe we all want to keep this discussion focused on our trucks and not offending people. Taking such an off topic discussion elsewhere is not a threat. There is a section on this forum dedicated to "off topic" discussions. I apologize for my part in getting off topic. I want to know when my comments may upset or offend anyone and I appreciate feedback.

It is difficult for me as a Canadian to ignore this comment. If it is intended to be humorous, it needs rewording. If you are generalizing about a whole country because of one individual's vehicle issues then I would like the opportunity to inform you otherwise. Best practice is to avoid making such comments.

You have a sharp looking truck (except for the lemons)! I am curious why you say GM won't fix your truck. Is there a dealer issue? Your truck is new and factory flaws will be covered by warranty.

Gorgeous car! I remember my dad bringing home his factory ordered '64 Ford Galaxie 500 XL 390 4bbl fastback - Black with red interior c/w buckets....I bragged about my dad's car for years! I love the color combination of your classic . The 4dr. with bench seats was a real workhorse and a very popular choice for police cars! Do you have any history on your find? It looks to be in excellent condition. Several years ago I went to look at one for sale in Washington state. It had been painted with house paint and brush and had obviously worked hard everyday for several decades!

Maybe its the picture, but your two car garage appears twice as big as my two car garage!

I haven't had problems with paint chips on my vehicles since I traveled hundreds of miles of gravel roads on a regular basis in the 70's and 80's! The paint on my '09 was in good condition when I traded it in and my '15 is still chip free after 1.5 years. I believe eliminating solvents in paints in an effort to protect our environment for our grandkids as a small sacrifice. There was a time when we used oil-based paints for a major portion of our house painting needs. Advancements have made water based paints the popular choice and I am sure the same will apply to automobile paint. There were many upset people when the nation switched from leaded to unleaded gas! Blaming the EPA for chips in our paint is not right in my opinion. Finding ways to protect our vehicles from chips such as mud flaps, protective coatings, deflectors etc. is what we need to be doing if chipping is a problem.

Prior to this service, the chime hurt my ears and passengers complained or at least commented. It is now no more annoying than my previous trucks or my wife's Toyota. Passenger comments ceased the day this was addressed. I will check with my dealer to see if they did anything special other than what was stated in the "TSB". I know that the chime volume control on the DIC does nothing and am wondering if less informed dealers are using this control thinking this is all that can be done. I doubt this chime issue was present on all years and models so it is a flaw that can be fixed.

If something like this is not working the way I expect, and I can't find a solution in my owners' manual, I report it to my service adviser. I make sure my concerns are recorded in case a history is required in the future. Annoyances like these can be frustrating and there is no need to put up with them. Take full advantage of your bumper to bumper warranty!

Did you notice the "hard downshifts" before or after reading this thread? Now that I've read this thread I will be listening carefully when I apply the brakes! I know my transmission is working as it should but discussions like this often heighten my awareness. When I read about shifting concerns with automatic transmissions I often wonder why there isn't greater public pressure on manufacturers to produce more vehicles with manual transmissions. I intentionally did some "hard downshifts" on my motorcycle yesterday wishing I could do the same with my truck!

Did you ask your local gm service department if they can turn down your seatbelt chime?

I added a Century canopy yesterday. I posted pictures on the topper thread but added this in case you haven't read that thread and are looking for ideas!

It is your decision, of course, but my preference is stock. I think the body-color framing of the windows gives the truck a much stronger look. When I see blacked out pillars I think of '90's Mazda extended cabs. This image of mine is not necessarily a bad thing but definitely not GM!

Until I had mine turned down by the dealer, I tried to remember to snap my seatbelt prior to stating the truck. I don't like to defeat any warning signals and was glad my dealer was able to repair this issue.

I had the same concern with my '15. The chime control available on the vehicle DIC menu didn't fix the issue. My dealer was able to dial it down to a tolerable level.
