  1. Unlikely but the smoke and shatter could be separate issues. Left side windows are susceptible to debris being thrown up from passing motorists. I once had my driver's window blown out on my '86 Suburban at highway speed. I was having glass picked out of my ear that night!
  2. Yesterday, I took my truck in to my dealership for service. I was called shortly after dropping it off and told that it needed new engine and cabin filters. I was surprised as my truck is low mileage and only sees pavement and mall parking lots. I also knew the cabin filter was probably a guess because it isn't easily inspected. After being assured this wasn't just an upsell and making it clear I could only afford what is absolutely necessary I gave them a reluctant go ahead. At 3 pm I was called to come pick up my truck. Not only was it spotless inside and out, a full service c/w filters had been completed. The best part was the bill was about 30% less than anticipated! I was told this was because I was a such a kind and patient customer. I left feeling great personally and It felt like I was driving a new truck off the lot!
  3. Nice and discrete! I wish I was aware of these when I bought my under the dash mount brake controller!
  4. My first thought was to pour molasses down the vent but figured your issue wasn't really that funny for you. Noise like this would be extremely annoying. My suggestion is to give it time and maybe it will find a nook or cranny to settle.
  5. Yes, but wait until he finds the bump! ;-)
  6. Welcome to this forum. You are correct that this is an older thread. Try: There are newer threads as well. I recommend you take the time and read about other members' experiences. You could save yourself some money and disappointment. I have read much of the information on this topic in this forum and my conclusion was to either go with Bilstein 5100 shocks or 1.5" bottom strut mount spacers. (I chose the latter) With a 1.5" level your truck will look great, accommodate larger tires and maintain some rake for towing. The level lift you are proposing will result in a similar stance and be 1" higher but will likely give a harsher ride for passengers and prematurely wear other suspension components. Many members claim many trouble free miles with the 2.5"+ level kits so the decision is yours. However, you will find far less problems associated with a smaller level.
  7. It is funny but actually a good message. It is healthy to take a break from the demands/intensity of children on occasion.
  8. I thought this medicine would "hit home" with many/most of our forum members! Take a break.mov
  9. Anyone try Realstep or a similar product? It is a metal step that attaches to your standard 3" nerf bars.
  10. Congratulations on your new truck and welcome to this forum. Great vehicle to tackle those Edmonton winters!
  11. Some previous lengthy discussions on this topic can be found on this forum. I prefer no white lettering, not even "turned-in". The bold white advertising takes away from the look, imo. White walls or red stripes on sedans I could understand as a custom/retro look.
  12. Sharp looking truck. The color scheme c/w tint will makes it stand out. I regularly receive compliments on my stock brown truck. You must get inundated with lookie-loos!
  13. I seriously considered the hybrid 5.3 in 2009. It was the cost of battery replacement and the amount of space they took up that made me decide on the traditional setup. It is unfortunate that the 19's don't appeal to you because I am guessing that DFM will have a similar impact on MPG.
  14. I also agree. It took time and care to do this. If it was not intentional op's mirror would show unwanted signs!
  15. ^^^^ Wow, that's commitment! Very nice look and a true "labor of love"!
  16. I asked him earlier!
  17. You take incredible care of your truck! I understand your rationale for adding grounds but I approach this a little differently. Your bed and cab are grounded to the frame through every nut and bolt but some parts seem to make lousy grounds. Whenever I've added an electrical component to an aging vehicle I simply run a desperate ground wire.
  18. This is discouraging! Was this wear directly attributed to your level kit?
  19. I think start/stop technology makes a lot of sense. Reducing emissions is in everybody's best interest and this sounds like a painless way for us to do our part. I test drove a '09 Sierra hybrid when new and was very impressed with how seamlessly it could switch between electric and gas operation. I assume the start stop technology in the 2019 will reflect 10 years of perfecting this function.
  20. This is my "dream" modification. Does the total cost to the owner have 2,3 or 4 at the beginning of the 4 digit price? ;-) Nice work pgamboa, as usual!
  21. If you have the time, I'd recommend going to your dealer now and asking them to have a look. Your concern will be on record and they can check for any potential safety issues. I would save cosmetic items for my next service but I'd deal with mechanical and safety issues as soon as they are noticed.
  22. Does this interfere with the normal function of the back button?
  23. I wouldn't consider GM trucks to be behind any competitor. The consumer has a significant impact on what manufacturer's will include in their vehicles. I chose my current truck largely due to the fact that it feels like I'm driving a truck, not a computer.
  24. You're right, thank you. I forgot to look at the dates on these comments.
  25. I would reread what pgamboa said and look for a bumper without the sensor holes. If he hasn't got them working yet, I wouldn't attempt such a project!
