  1. Another +1. Got rid of mine too? Dealership for free oil change only. I look forward to going to work in the morning only because I want to drive my new smooth truck.
  2. Doing great too w/ my new Tundra. I love it. Took a beating on the trade in, but no regrets, just resentment with GM. Been a GM guy for over 25 years. I even supported the bail-out! I am done with them now. Tundra is every bit as stiff as the old vibrator, but no shake. Kinda like a truck should be.
  3. I bought a Tundra as well. Runs and drives great. I feel bad for the poor bastard who buys it. I hope they check the CarFax first. It does show all the times it has been back to dealer. Some have yet been updated on CarFax. You can find the Shakerado on the Beck and Masten (south) web page. Has about. 8,200 miles of hell on it. Review of Tundra: Pro: lots of power, a bit throaty. Ride is stiff as would be expected in a truck, but no shake at any speed. Very smooth. Get a sense of being well made. Everything is solid. Rear seats in CC are huge, and still have more than enough space in drivers seat. Seats are more comfortable than my old vibrator. Cons: poor MPG . Averaging 16 while vibrator was 21. Base sound system is weak. But, it has good reception. Wish it had the App where you can turn on remotely. All in all I love it. Looked at Ram, Ford and even Nissan. Tundra just best over all IMO.
  4. Good news. Shakerado is gone. I simply got to a point that I hated driving the vibrator and dealIng with GM. So, now I have a proven truck with the only issue is that it eats gas. Runs like a truck, but smooth without the shake. Sounds note is a bit more throaty and love it. Definitely worth the $ I lost on the GM. I look forward to driving my truck now!!! GM- get your act together or your sales or your sales will continue to decline I wish the best of luck to the vibrator owners on this forum.
  5. I washed my vibrator today. You know when you wash your car it seems to drive better? Not mine. Conclusion: riding a clean or dirty vibrator, the stink remains the same
  6. You are one of the lucky ones then. In my case, and many other postings on here many also concluded it was not the tires. In my case, they replaced all four tires. It still vibrated. Then they Road forced and had to replace one of the new ones they just installed. Yes, when they replaced and RFB's the tires, the vibration was better, but it time, the vibration came back. I still have a vibrator. Been a GM guy all me life, but I think I may need to bend over and get a Ford. I cringe when I say this!
  7. It's not the tires. this has been mentioned many times on this forum. Try another truck instead?
  8. I was reading an article the other day regarding GM is planning on downsizing the Silverado assembly factory in Mexico. The article said they would be moving some manufacturing back to the US. I find this interesting as you would think the cost of labor is less in Mexico? Perhaps GM is having some quality control issues with manufacturing in Mexico. Guess what? My Shakerado was assembled in Mexico. Hmmm! Oh, did you read about Silverado's sales were down and Fords were up! Perhaps GM is waking up? Seems like it, they are certainly hammering ford in their advertising of late.
  9. What size is the factory U-Bolt nut? I'd like to stop by on way home from work to pick up appropriate size socket.
  10. Because like the "Chevy Shake", GM does not consider crappy seat frame a safety issue. It's simply a $ issue.
  11. I know for sure I feel it in the steering wheel. But, there is also times when I hear the rear seat belt rattling, so I can only assume the vibration is being transmitted from the rear to my steering wheel? Also interesting to note. .there was no documentation on any of my service tickets regarding balancing drive shaft? Supposedly replaced all tires and RFB's. Still vibrated. Took it back and RFB'd yet again. They claim they PICO'd it and was within GM Spec. on recently paved asphalt, but said readings will be higher on concrete roads ie, 98% of the roads that have not been recently paved. GM considers the case to be closed since they got vibration is Spec. on a super smooth asphalt road. Have a nice day Mr. customer, glad we could help, now go away.GM is just trying to wash their hands of this. It's unbelievable to me to me how GM is dealing (rather not dealing) with this obvious problem.
  12. What do you think these marks mean? This is how I found it when it came out of shop when they told me all was okay. Well it's not, but was wondering what these marks are, and what were they trying to do>
  13. trying to post a Pic of my drive shaft that has some markings on it from dealer. Interested to know what they may be? How do I post this image?
  14. What is the factory Spec. on the U Bolts?
  15. Perhaps because they no longer want to deal with GM anymore with all the hoops people have to take. Just dump it, take the loss and carry on with another manufacturer. If I had the cash and was not buried in my truck, I would take this route as well. Who wants to deal with the hassle?
  16. So, if hey were to pull the whole thread, would anyone be aware of the Chevy Shake? I can only assume you do not have a vibrator?
  17. Certainly understandable, It is so irritating living with a "shaker". Love everything else about the truck-nice 5.3 that is smooth and relatively fuel efficient. Brakes are great and have a nice firm feel to them. Wind noise much better than last gen. have just been a GM guy, don't see myself driving any manufactures mention above. Ford- Aluminum body scares me a bit and long term reliability of Eco Boost??. Ram needs cosmetic update. Toyota- maybe-the engine is an gas hog though. Nissan Titan? But, a smooth ride for a $40K truck, I reluctantly maybe heading down the same road as you, no matter what it is, may just preserve my sanity So disappointed with GM
  18. I found out something that may be of interest to some. I work for a Junior College that has a GM Certified Training School (many other major manufacturers do as well). I spoke to the lead GM Instructor if he as ever heard of vibration issues in 14 and newer trucks? He immediately said "yes, very common, they make the frame so stiff it tends to manifest itself in steering wheel" I told him my story about Dealer replacing all Goodyear tires and Road Forced Balanced" them. But, still vibrated. Told him I took it in again and they RFB's one tire again and told me everything was now within GM Spec's. He indicated that the Goodyear's were not great tires, and suggested Continental tires if on a budget, or Michelins if you can afford them. So, he went on to say that RFB, if not done correctly will not necessarily balance tire properly. So, IMO he was aware of the issue and said I need to get RFB's by recently instructed Tech. on RFB's. He clearly said many of the tires were flat spotted, especially if they sat on the dealer's parking for a long time. Here's the part that blew me away: When I was talking to him in the School's shop, I noticed the students were working on relatively two new Silverado's. They were working on electrical systems as they both had their hoods up. I asked "where do you get these slightly used trucks'? he said "they are "buy backs", where he surmised the customer just insisted on a buy back because dealer was not capable of RFB's or they just thought the slight vibration is simply not acceptable to them. So, now we at least know where these trucks go. They are not put back on the street, but rather donated and I assume GM gets some form of tax break. Makes sense to me. So, I believe many need to find a dealer with a Tech. who has taken a recent RFB class offered by Hunter, and insist the newly trained Tech does the work. This helped my vibration significantly. Do I think it is the "cure all'? No, but in my experience it helped to level where I can live with it, assuming it does not get worse in time. My dealer claims it is now in Spec. when the recently FRB's and Pico'd it. If this is true, GM's level of acceptable of tolerances certainly suck.
  19. Summary to date Took truck into dealer at 400 miles or so to address the acute vibration. Several days later, dealer calls to say it is ready to pick up. Service ticked said they replaced all FOUR tires and Road Forced Balanced. Took truck home, truck did drive much smoother but over a period of a week or so, It clearly was vibrating and getting worse. It was at this point I had some correspondence with GM Rep. They indicated they would call my dealer on my behalf. Dropped off my truck and had a "suspension" Service Writer look at it. I insisted he drive it and sure enough, agreed it was still vibrating excessively. They gave me a new 16 CC with 5.3 as a loaner. Truck was smooth compared to mine. Next day they call me to say truck is ready to pick up. I asked what they found? "Had to RFB tire" I said " something along the words as if they were kidding right"? My regular Service Writer is not real customer friendly to say the least. The Suspension guy was a good guy who I actually thought cared? Get to dealer and inquired again to what they found" My original stand offish Writer said it was the tire and put the Service Ticketing front of me and said " here, read this" Ticket said they did RFB and Pico'd before and after RFB and now they claim it is within in GM Spec. So, I leave the dealer sucking my thumb wondering what the heck just happened here? I will say, truck vibrates much less than when I dropped off at dealer. Still scratching my head" hmm, so it was the tires all along? It took 5 new tires to fix". Is this possible? At this point, I do not know. I thought to myself I would just drive it for a few more weeks since I am on Spring Break w/o truck. I get a call a day or so later from the GM Rep. I had spoke with earlier. She wanted to know if Dealer was able to fix it to my satisfaction, I told her truck felt good, but wanted to put some more miles on it just to be sure it does not vibrate excessively again. She agreed and asked me to get a hold of her a few weeks from now with my thoughts? I felt a bit comforted that GM actually reached out to me. I think they do care.I am happy with GM for this. So , wish me luck fellow vibrator's. I am pessimisticly optimistic the truck will be okay. Will update in a few weeks.

  21. Update- truck is back ar dealer to measure the vibrations as has been described in this forum many times. The dealer Service Rep. Acknowledged the vibration and most if not all Crew Cabs with 20 in wheels will vibrate to differing extents. I could sense their frustration in this on-going issue with many trucks coming back to them describing the same vibrations. It is not clear to me if GM is covering all these issues at warranty so dealer can get reimbursed . I certainly hope they are as it puts Service Dept. in the middle of GM and customer. GM puts a big emphasis on customer satisfaction these days, but how can customers be satisfied with a "vibrator"? They are stuck in the middle with a no win outcome. I am so disappointed with GM. I still can't believe they know they have a problem, but appear to be turning their heads because it will cost them big $ to fix so many affected vehicles. What makes it even more frustrating, they are making big profits these days. So, I knew where this is going. I am going to have to make a decision soon. Try to et GM to buy it back, trade assist or live with it. All of these options suck? Do I want a trade assist in hopes to find a non- vibrator. Buy back? I can't imagine a driving a non GM truck? I love everything about my truck, but the vibration will be difficult to live with. Shoot me!
  22. I know it's difficult and time consuming to go through this whole thread. Bottom line is, Road Force Balancing helps many trucks reduce the vibration significantly, but does not eliminate it completely. From what I have read from this entire thread , GM has yet to identify, or care to divulge the source of vibration. Most dealers have tried unsuccessfully to eliminate the vibration and often times spend much time and money to remedy. In my case, they refuse to look at truck any further because they have "been down this road" before without success and support from GM. I think GM dealers are as frustrated as us unfortunate owner's of "shaker's". I think some posts in this thread are mixing the V4 shake with the shake/vibration at speed. They are two independent issues, and this thread is intended to express vibrations of trucks at speed. it appears the 'shaker's" at speed there is no known "fix' or any definitive cause. There has been many, many speculations concerning the "fix", but most are unsubstantiated and not approved by GM. I can't begin to express how disappointed I am with my truck vibration as with many on this thread. I am so disappointed and frustrated with GM. I find it hard to believe they do not know what the problem is. I have to think they do, but it is not safety related or affects the vast majority of trucks they sell. As it was told many years ago..,"just follow the money" and you will likely find their motivations. In this case, why would GM want to publicize that some of their trucks have some inherent defect which cause some of their trucks to vibrate? Answer- bad publicity which may mean less sales, less profit. I think this issues is a simple as that.
  23. Update: Dealer told me they replaced all four wheels with 4 wheels that took from one on their lot. They claimed this fixed the vibration and decided to replace all 4 tires on My original rims. They say all is fine now. As you may recall from my previous post, there certainly is a lot less vibration, But I still get a slight shake at 65 to 75. I called dealer back and explained that the truck still has a vibration. He told me he would have his shop foreman call me.? Well guess what, no phone call. Not sure what the shop foreman was going to tell me? I have a sense I may be stuck with a vibrator. I am beginning to believe that since the 14' re-design, this may be the new normal in Q/C in their trucks. Think about it,, they sell a bunch of them and are profitable, Q/C may tend to be a bit overlooked. For those of you older people, this was true beginning in the early 70's to mid 80's. GM was cranking out cars, but they were unreliable to say the least. It was not until the Japanese started to introduce cars to the American market, GM finally woke up and started putting out more reliable vehicles. I hope I am proven wrong, I have been a Loyal GM guy even when they put out crappy vehicles. They have always produced decent drive lines, the rest of parts, very poor. I will stay loyal to GM because I think when autos sales slow down, Q/C will increase and put out consistently well engineered vehicles. This is especially to be true of trucks, they sell so many of them. In conclusion, my Wife now requires very long trips at higher speeds to get her rev'd up. Before, I could just go around the block. Damn GM, costing m more gas & and time to get things going down there.
  24. Well I have some good news and bad news about my truck vibrations. Good news is that my truck has a significantly less vibration at speed. The bad news is my truck has significantly less vibration. For some reason, my Wife always got frisky after riding in my truck. Now that it vibrates less, not so much.
  25. I just got off the phone with the dealer. He said he replaced all four tires and it now drives fine. I asked if he drove it and he said no! Let the games begin.
