hey folks, i've been obessing about this built for a few years now and i really want to do it. I want to purchase a 24 sierra 3500 gas, Regular cab 4x4, i want to remove the longbed and build my own flat bed and custom order a Bison camper. I want to remove the rear window and weld a left n right cover n open the middle as a pass thru. is this all too ambitious?
am currently on a 16 sierra 1500 5.3 crew cab 6 spd, with a permanently mounted travel lite truck camper 1500lbs heavy. only driven on trips, zero commute. love my truck, went thru a transmission at 60k miles.
aside from the look of the new 3500, i just want a dedicated camper thatn can do some offroad, my current camper will not do any offroad, its too overlloaded feeling.
The real reason is I dont want to pull a trailer anymore, i want to build a rack in the back to haul a 550lb adv bike, and i want a pass thru to the cab.
