  1. Turn the key on off several times, chances are the stepper motor has quit.
  2. I just find it makes all the red look brownish, I mean I like it but not my favourite. The cool white is my favourite.
  3. Tonight I refurbished a 2004 Sierra cluster in green even though I told this guy it didn't look that good in green. He insisted and loves it. What do you guys think?
  4. Today was a slow day, only sold and programmed a (22733524 ) to a 2010 Cobalt and replaced the 2 front speakers for him. Me and my big mouth!!!!!! Anyway he left happy but doing this outside was a bit harsh while he sat in the car.
  5. This morning working on a Hummer H2 cluster, it was dead when I received it, it now works but not 100% sure I fixed it. I will be switching it on and off all day to see if it fires up every time. Just repaired a 2003 Tahoe cluster with the usual problems except motors were still good. Sometimes it wouldn't come on, sometimes it wouldn't shut off and kill his battery and of course the PRND321 display was dead. All the bottom bulbs were burnt so I LEDed it in cool white. 18:30 Just finished a 2005 Venture 3 gauge cluster.
  6. A member PMed me for the polarity in the HVAC control panel so he could add LEDs to replace the burnt bulbs.. Might be a nice to know for some of you. The black stripe indicates the negative side.
  7. I stand corrected then. Thank You! Now we all know. Did you need a GM activation code like before or the menus are all there?
  8. AU3 ( Electric door lock ) means your truck didn't come with remote keyless entry from factory. Contrary to what's been said previously here you can still get OEM remote start but the kit is very expensive because it includes a hood switch with harness, key FOBs (2), a different RCDLR an AP3 sticker to apply over your AU3 and an activation code, all this has to be done at the dealer or a certified GM shop. They will sync the new RCDLR to your BCM and with the activation will be able to download the proper menus to your BCM to enable these options.
  9. Just repaired and refurbished a 2004 Gas HD cluster that had all of the problems that these clusters have. 1. It would kill the battery after 3 days of non-use 2. PRND321 display was dim when the cluster ever came on. 3. Cluster most of the time wouldn't turn on. 4. Half the bulbs were burnt. 5. Most of the stepper motors were shot 6. High beam LED dim lit all the time. Took it apart and fixed everything, replaced all the motors and bulbs. He wanted OEM background color so warm white LEDs were used.
  10. Check RPO codes in glove box for AP3, AP8, AU0 or AU3
  11. This morning I fixed a 2005 Silverado cluster.
  12. Dullest 2 days of my life, nothing to do, so boring.
  13. Man that sure sounds like it spun a rod bearing and the piston is hitting the head.
  14. Dielectric grease will stop water from getting in....
  15. 11:00 Replaced all motors in a cluster I had already repaired 4 months ago. Told him then he should get all the motors replaced because it was just a matter of time before they failed since it was a 2003. And one by one they started to fail, first it was the oil pressure, said he could live without it, then Speedometer, said he could live without it since Tach still worked but when the fuel gauge pinned itself right around he knew it was time. Didn't charge him full price since I already got $60 from him 4 months ago and I was in a good mood. Waiting on a 2005 H2 to show up for a cluster repair.
  16. 12:00 repaired a candi module for a friend. 13:00 repaired 2 ( 15252034 ) FOBs for a 2010 Cobalt.
  17. Well I received the cluster, refurbished it and to my surprise the same truck pick it up 10 minutes after I called. So customer shipped it yesterday and will receive it tomorrow. I'd say that's pretty dang good service. Client is 200 miles away.
  18. Received motors this morning just in time for a Purolator delivery of a cluster or they should maybe be called ''Purelylater''. Meanwhile did a few FOBs and a cluster repair while waiting!!! One thing about Purolator they are consistently inconsistent or is that inconsistently consistent. They're never on time.
  19. By trying to find a cheaper way to replace these GM bulbs I bought 12 volt bulbs not realising at the time that these clusters run at 14+ volts most of the time. The GM replacement are very expensive, that's why I went LED mostly, the other advantage is less heat on the surrounding components.
  20. That's the best way I could put it in words. the lens blackens from the inside and looks like chrome on the outside. lamp produces very little light even if filament is still good. Let me try and take a picture up close.
  21. I will need to change my TPS soon too. This morning sold and programmed a FOB for a 2003 Silverado. Then finally received that cluster from NewFoundland and refurbished it in blue, I had saved 6 stepper motors for this. Hopefully my motors will be in in the morning so I can fix the 4 waiting on my shelf. This is how I prep the LEDs to minimize hotspots I grind the lens flat. Yesterday redid a cluster I had done 6 years ago with the white motors. Truck has since changed hands but I knew it was one of mine because I used to write the kilometers on the white case with a Sharpee. ( Now I apply a sticker ) Truck only had 32000kms more on it but the Tach and Speedo motors had gone bad again, and the bulbs I was using at the time had all turn a chromed black, redid the whole thing in warm white LEDs anyway and the guy was really happy.
  22. Well did that Grand Prix, Candi module worked flawlessly, then repaired an other 2005 truck cluster, all out of motors now. Hope the new ones come in tomorrow. 3 for the day.
  23. Just finished an other 03 Sierra cluster repair already this morning! And started work on a second one.....a 2005 Well this one a bit more difficult but got it going, the odometer display was dead on it and a few bulbs Hope my order comes in soon,.....one lonely stepper motor left. Good news I received my new Candi module in the mail this morning and already have a Grand Prix on the way for sale programming of a ( 22733524 ) FOB
  24. Just sold and programmed 2 FOBs ( GQ43VT20T ) for a 2008 Tacoma ( Yes Toyota FOBs fail too ). Then sold and programmed a FOB for a 2008 Suburban ( 22951508 ). Dog ate his FOB l0l
  25. Whenever it comes to A/C I never trust anybody but the experts, often in trying to save money by doing it myself I ended paying more down the road. My A/C guy charges me $20 to put his machine on and test. Then the fix if needed is extra, the last time I took in my red Cobalt it cost me $75 total and almost had to wear gloves in the summer.
